Desenvolvimento sustentável e uso dos recursos naturais em áreas de várzea do território do baixo Tocantins da Amazônia paraense: limites, desafios e possibilidades
The central goal of this thesis is to understand and analyze the dynamics of sustainable use the natural resource by the cabocla-riverside populations aiming the application of sustainable development concept and, starting the observation the everyday the way of life, the use of natural resources and the process of diversified production as empirical elements required to think a new pattern of development, in other words, the sustainable, anchored to traditional knowledges of cabocla-riverside populations of lowland areas the territory of Baixo Tocantins of Amazon Paraense. Like this, sought , starting of theoric debate, develop a criticizes to modern science, with specificity to instrumental rationality, that promoted fragmentation the relationship between man and nature, through development of destructive activities the natural resources that compromise the own human life , the same time, was introduced an approach of interdisciplinarity as one possibility of articulation in different areas of knowledge for a intervention under perspectives of dimensions the social life and natural. The study to elaborate this thesis has as universe the Baixo Tocantins territory, where it considered the lowland ecosystems of municipalities Abaetetuba and Igarapé-Miri, in their components considered strategic like: riverside communities, agro ecosystem and riverside population, constitutive the Tocantins river margin. For this, was reconstituted of synthetic mode, the historical trajectory of this territory through of occupation, development, and use of natural resources, which were analyzed from adaptive productive dynamics , and use of natural resources in their multiple activities of management of lowland ecosystem focused for production and management of açaí , agroforestry systems (SAFs), agriculture, creating of small and medium-sized animals , creation of fishes, vegetal extractivism and animal , shrimp fishery and fish on lowland ecosystem. This practices of use the natural resources, traditionally employed by inhabitants of lowland areas makes part of one lifestyle, that secularly has guaranteed the production of knowledge acquired/inherited of past generations, how management and use nature resources of this agrosystem. The productive diversity strategies, management and multiple uses the nature resources follows the rhythms imposed by nature of adaptation capacity of relation with natural conditions of lowland areas, such as : flood process, flood and ebb the rivers, erosion/ deposition , environmental impacts by great developmental projects, elevated levels of the rivers , among others factors, keeping a high degree of interrelationship balanced with nature. Assim, buscou-se, a partir do debate teórico, desenvolver uma crítica à ciência moderna, com especificidade para a racionalidade instrumental, que promoveu a framentação da relação entre homem e natureza, por meio do desenvolvimemto de atividades destruidoras dos recursos naturais, comprometendo a própria vida humana. Ao mesmo tempo, introduziu-se a abordagem da interdisciplinaridade como uma possibilidade de articulação das diferentes áreas de conhecimento para uma intervenção sob a perspectiva das dimensões da vida social e natural. O estudo para a elaboração da tese teve como universo o Território do Baixo Tocantins, considerando-se os ecossistemas de várzea dos municípios Abaetetuba e Igarapé-Miri, em seus componentes, considerados estratégicos como: comunidades ribeirinhas, agroecossistema e população ribeirinha, constitutivos das margens do rio Tocantins. Para isso, reconstitui-se de modo sintético, a trajetória histórica desse território por meio da ocupação, desenvolvimento e uso dos recursos naturais, os quais foram analisados a partir das dinâmicas produtivas adaptativas e uso dos recursos naturais em suas múltiplas atividades de manejo do ecossistema de várzea voltadas para produção e manejo do açaí, sistemas agroflorestais (SAFs), agricultura, criação de pequenos e médios animais, criação de peixe, extrativismo vegetal e animal, pesca de camarão e peixe no ecossistema de várzea. Essas práticas de uso dos recursos naturais, tradicionalmente empregadas pelos habitantes das áreas de várzea, fazem parte de um modo de vida, que secularmente vem garantindo a produção de conhecimento adquirido/herdado de gerações passadas, de como manejar e usar os recursos naturais desse agroecossistema. As estratégias de diversidade produtiva, manejo e uso múltiplo dos recursos naturais seguem os ritmos impostos pela natureza da capacidade adaptativa em relação com as condições naturais das áreas de várzea, tais como: o processo da enchente, cheia e vazante dos rios, erosão/deposição, impactos ambientais pelos grandes projetos desenvolvimentistas, elevação dos níveis dos rios, entre outros fatores, mantendo um alto grau de inter-relacionamento equilibrado com a natureza. O presente estudo evidencia a relação entre produção de açaí, mercado e espaços geográficos dando ênfase para integração dos atores institucionais e dos elos da cadeia produtiva, a fim de proporcionar melhores melhor entendimento dos procedimentos de gestão capazes de manter os parâmetros de qualidade e satisfazer as necessidades dos atores sociais. Neste sentido, o objetivo geral deste trabalho é analisar a dinâmica da cadeia produtiva do açaí, com ênfase nas rotas de comercialização do fruto do açaí in natura por meio da técnica de Geomarketing do município de Igarapé-Miri do estado do Pará. O processo metodológico foi centrado na investigação aplicada que buscou gerar conhecimento para a aplicação prática através da abordagem quali - quantitativa com a utilização de recursos técnicos envolvendo uma ampla pesquisa bibliográfica e pesquisa documental, pesquisa de campo, pesquisa-ação e o Geomarketing. O locus da pesquisa foram as áreas de várzea do município de Igarapé-Miri aplicada à dinâmica dos agricultores familiares ribeirinhos associados da Associação Mutirão (AMUT). Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
