Detection of trending topic communities: Bridging content creators and distributors
The rise of a trending topic on Twitter or Facebook leads to the temporal emergence of a set of users currently interested in that topic. Given the temporary nature of the links between these users, being able to dynamically identify communities of users related to this trending topic would allow for a rapid spread of information. Indeed, individual users inside a community might receive recommendations of content generated by the other users, or the community as a whole could receive group recommendations, with new content related to that trending topic. In this paper, we tackle this challenge, by identifying coherent topic-dependent user groups, linking those who generate the content (creators) and those who spread this content, e.g., by retweeting/reposting it (distributors). This is a novel problem on group-to-group interactions in the context of recommender systems. Analysis on real-world Twitter data compare our proposal with a baseline approach that considers the retweeting activity, and validate it with standard metrics. Results show the effectiveness of our approach to identify communities interested in a topic where each includes content creators and content distributors, facilitating users' interactions and the spread of new information

Franziska Meier\u27s study represents an important contribution to current scholarly research on Dante\u27s Divina Commedia. In her new book, she not only explains the fundamental contexts of the genesis of the Commedia and biography of the author, who was already controversial during his lifetime. Rather, Meier also succeeds in coherently presenting linguistic aspects, questions of translation and reception outside Europe. The author and translator Lorena Pircher, herself also a Romance scholar, reviewed this study for Medienimpulse
A Social Framework for Set Recommendation in Group Recommender Systems
This research article presents a study about the background in Group Recommender Systems and how social factors are directly related to these applications. Some important group recommender systems in academia are described to exemplify their contribution in different domains. Besides, a framework that is intended to improve group recommender systems is proposed. The main idea of the framework is to enhance social cognition to help the group members agree and make a decision. Its structure includes a process where an influential group is detected among the target groups of people to recommend to. Social influence detection uses the knowledge behind online social connections and interactions. Trying to understand human behavior and ties among groups in a social network and how to use this to improve group recommender systems is considered the main challenge for future research. Combining this with the kind of item recommendation which involves a temporal sequence of ordered elements will present a novel and original path in Group Recommender Systems design
Argentine political leaders on Twitter: A study about the midterm elections in 2017
The use of Online Social Networks (OSNs) in electoral campaigns is no longer an option for candidates and their campaign teams. Their performance in the virtual public sphere will mark substantial differences at the time of vote. Indeed, although the presence of politicians in social media does not guarantee their victory in elections, it is unthinkable to build their public profile outside of them. The present study intends to analyze the use of Twitter by the main female Argentinian political leaders during the campaign of the mid-term legislative elections in Argentina in 2017. Specifically, it is intended to investigate which were the topics promoted by these leaders in the public virtual sphere and what kind of dialogues they established with citizens and between them. Likewise, based on their interaction in social networks, an attempt will be made to identify which leadership characteristics these candidates possess. Finally, the aim is to analyze the influence of the gender variable on its narratives. Results show that the conversations focused on campaign slogans, they included information linked to the local dimension and did not abound on gender-related issues. In a context where issues related to women became relevant in the political, media and public agendas, this work aims to go beyond the political use of Twitter to identify particular features of the construction of female leadership in social networks.Fil: Zunino, Esteban.
