Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Upaya Meningkatkan Kemampuan Metakognitif Melalui Konsep Spiritual Quotient Pendidikan Agama Islam Di SMP Swasta Tunas Mandiri Tanjung Pura
Based on the data obtained by the author, it is known that 73% of students still have relatively poor metacognitive abilities. This is caused by several things, including students' lack of interest in learning activities in the field of study of Islamic Religious Education, the learning process still relies on the teacher as the provider of all material information related to the field of study of Islamic Religious Education and students have not been actively involved as learning subjects. According to the teacher in the field of Islamic religious education at Tunas Mandiri Private Middle School, he explained that students' metacognitive abilities in Islamic religious education learning activities were included in the low criteria because students had not been able to fully understand the subject matter given by the teacher in the Islamic religious education study field. The background of this problem makes researchers interested in proposing research using a classroom action research model to find out whether there is an increase in metacognitive abilities through the concept of Spiritual Quotient which can be identified through the application of action interventions for 3 (three) cycles. Based on the results of observations, interviews and test instruments used by researchers, data can be obtained, namely the Spiritual Quotient Concept can improve learning outcomes in the subject of Islamic Religious Education for Class VIII students of Tunas Mandiri Private Middle School with a percentage increase, namely from the pre-cycle the completeness value of students only reaches 29 .8 % students. Then in the first cycle, the percentage of students' completeness score was 45.9, an increase of 16.1 from the pre-cycle. In cycle II, the percentage of mastery learning was achieved by 78.4%, there was an increase in student mastery by 32.5 from cycle I. In Cycle III, learning mastery was achieved by 100, an increase from cycle II. So, there is an increase between cycle II to cycle III, namely 21.6. If taken into account from the pre-cycle to the third cycle there is an increase in the level of 70.2. So it can be concluded that the application of the Spiritual Quotient Concept can improve students' ability to improve metacognitive abilities
Upaya Meningkatkan Kemampuan Berpikir Kritis Siswa Melalui Model Pembelajaran Deep Dialogue/ Critical Thinking (DD/CT) Pada Mata Pelajaran Fiqih Kelas VIII MTS N 1 Langkat
This study aims to determine the critical thinking skills of students in Fiqh learning after the application of the Deep Dialogue / Critical Thinking (DD / CT) Learning Model in class VIII MTs N 1 Langkat. This research is included in class action research (Action Research). This study uses a type of collaborative model, namely researchers with Fiqh study teachers in class VIII MTs N 1 Langkat. The subjects in Class Action Research VIII are students of class VIII MTs N 1 Langkat with a total of 32 students. the instruments in this researcher are observation sheets and tests in accordance with the research procedures by observing cycle I and cycle II. The application of the Deep Dialogue/Critical Thinking learning method can be implemented well through two cycles. This can be seen through the activities of students in cycle I and cycle II have increased. The results of observations of student activity in learning which initially in cycle I only reached a score of 67.5% then increased by 17.5% to 85% in cycle II. There is a difference in the critical thinking skills of students in class VIII MTs N 1 Langkat between before and after the implementation of class action research using the Deep Dialogue / Critical Thinking learning method, this is known from the completeness of learning in class VIII MTs N 1 Langkat in the pre-cycle is 66.71% while in cycle I reached 72.96% and in cycle II amounted to 80.93% . After the application of the Deep Dialogue / Critical Thinking learning method, students' critical thinking skills have increased, this can be seen from the results of the pre-cycle critical thinking skills test which only reached an average score of 66.71 (less) and increased in cycle I to 72.96% (sufficient) and in cycle II increased again to 80.93% (good). The increase in critical thinking skills can also be seen in the increase in the percentage of student completeness, namely in the pre-cycle only 40.62% while in cycle I it reached 65.62% and in cycle II it was 84.37%. In addition, from the test results it is known that in cycle I and cycle II the Sig (2- Tailed) value is 0.000. <0.05, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test learning outcomes. Therefore, it is concluded that the use of the Deep Dialogue/Critical Thinking method can improve students' critical thinking skills
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Analisis Teori Sibernetik Pada Era Pembelajaran 5.0 Dalam Perkembangan Hasil Belajar Siswa Di Kelas VII MTsN 1 Langkat
The application of cybernetic learning theory to class VII students of MTsN I Langkat has generally been implemented in Madrasahs where every learning is always related to the internet or computers and smartphones which are used as student learning resources. The learning process that is carried out always utilizes existing artificial intelligence in order to obtain information related to learning so that students are able to process the information obtained into knowledge. The application of cybernetic learning theory has been carried out using various media and methods that utilize information and communication technology that has been integrated with people's lives in the 5.0 era so that students get complete information and are able to process this information into knowledge. The form of learning in the 5.0 era that is carried out in Madrasas is more concerned with process. The information system is processed because the information will determine the learning process that is carried out. The development of student learning outcomes with the application of cybernetic learning theory in the 5.0 learning era in class VII students of MTs Negeri I Langkat has been able to improve student learning outcomes because understanding of the subject matter is better with the cybernetic theory. Era 5.0 learning is very helpful for learning that is carried out because of the extensive support of information technology in providing information to students. In general, the value of student learning outcomes is good and meets the established criteria of completeness
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
koamabayili/VECTRON-author-checklist: VECTRON author checklist
We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
