Visualization of Ships in a Mixed-Reality Environment and Automated Situational Awareness using Live AIS Data
The aim of this graduation thesis entitled "Visualization of Ships in a Mixed-Reality Environment and Automated Situational Awareness using Live AIS Data'' is to develop a framework for an automated situational awareness system for human operators using live AIS measurements. In this context, situational awareness means having an accurate understanding of what is happening around you and what is likely to happen. The main tool for this is 3-D visualization of AIS detected ships and a remotely operated unmanned surface vehicle (USV) in a mixed-reality environment. The chosen environment is the fjord outside the city of Trondheim in Norway, which is implemented in Unity as a virtual world. The 3-D model is based on geographical information system (GIS) data and the AIS detected ships are overlaid the virtual world using their real geographical positions, which are live decoded AIS messages.
The main result of the thesis is an automated situational awareness system, which consists of subsystems for decoding of the AIS messages, state estimation and motion prediction, risk assessment, 3-D visualization and a graphical user interface (GUI).
Several case studies for motion prediction and computation of online risk collision risk indexes are presented to demonstrate the concept of automated situational awareness. The results have been published in two conference papers and one journal paper.
Finally, the author recommends that an automated situational awareness system onboard a commercial ship or an USV combines navigation and sensory data from other sources than AIS. Redundancy is important from a safety point of view. AIS is not considered to be a reliable system due to loss of signals, limited range, slow update rates and the problem that the system can be turned off during operation. Consequently, an industrial system for automated situational awareness should be based on sensor fusion where information from radars, lidars, infrared thermal cameras, optical cameras, satellites etc. are combined in an optimal manner.
In addition to this, it is recommended to develop a 3-D visualization system, which makes it possible for a human operator to analyze a large amount of data in real time without saturating the human cognitive system
Bestandsstatus hjå auren i Gjende
Hesthagen, T., Sandlund, O.T., Saksgård, R. & Øyjordet, K. 2022. Bestandsstatus hjå auren i Gjende. NINA Rapport 2069. Norsk institutt for naturforsking.

Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the physical activity and stage of exercise behavior and its influential determinants of junior students in Taipei City. By using a stratified cluster sampling method and ch- osen randomly, 701 of the valid samples were collected with a self - administrated questionnaires. Descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Scheffe Post Hoc tests, Pearson’s product-monent and Multiple Regression were used to analyze the data. The results were followed:
1.The gender, grade and participated in exercise team of the subjects have a signific- ant effect on moderate-vigorous physical activity. The moderate-vigorous phys- ical activity of junior students had significant relationship with psychological variables, social cultural variables and environmental variables.
2.The junior students involved more in moderate-vigorous physical activities on weekend leisure time than that on weekday. The more popular activities were playing baseball, soft baseball, volleyball, table tennis, ten pins bowling , and riding bicycle.
3. Percentage distribution of the sample across the stages was: precontemplation , 13% (n =91); contemplation, 11.4% (n = 79); preparation , 43% (n = 299) ; action,13.6% (n = 96); and maintenance, 19% (n = 136). One-way ANOVA showed that there were significant differences between students’stages of exercise behavior and gender , grade, participated in exercise team, psychological variables, social cultural variables and environmental variables.
4. The moderate-vigorous physical activity of subjects in maintenance stages of exercise were more than who in other stages.
5.Gender, sport team membership, self-efficacy, physical activity enjoyment, exe- rcise role model, exercise social support, use computer on weekend and enviro-
nmental facilities were significant predictors of moderate-vigorous physical acti-
vity of junior students. The 35﹪variance of physical activity could be explained by demographic characteristics, psychological variables, social cultural variables and environmental variables. Gender was the most important predictors of mode- rate -vigorous physical activity of subjects.
Women in Mizoguchi’s Films: Author in the Face of Cultural Changes
Powstały wówczas między innymi filmy takie, jak Białe nici wodospadu (White Threads of the Waterfall, 1933) Osen - papierowy ptak (The Downfall, 1935), Czerwone maki (The Field Poppy, 1935), Elegia Naniwy (Naniwa Elegy, 1936) Siostry z Gionu (Sisters of the Gion, 1936), Opowieść o późnych chryzantemach (The Story of the Late Chrysanthemums, 1939). The article is dedicated to Kenji Mizoguchi’s films of the 1930s when he developed his own distinctive artistic style that manifested itself not only in the fictional aspect but first of all in the way film-specific instruments were used. White Threads of the Waterfall (1933), The Downfall (1935), The Field Poppy (1935), Naniwa Elegy (1936), Sisters of the Gion (1936) and The Story of the Late Chrysanthemums (1939) were some of the films made in this period. Loska points out a few interrelated issues that were reflected in the subject of Mizoguchi’s films: the picture of cultural and social changes stemming from modernisation, the attempt to show contradictions between tradition and modernity, and the reflection on the role and status of women in a patriarchal society, and consequently - his critique of the model. Loska also points to the relationship between Mizoguchi’s auteur style and genre conventions as well as the narrative patterns used in the films. Loska is interested in the influence of both traditional Japanese aesthetics and contemporary literary and theatrical pieces that are more or less successfully adapted for the screen
This article attempts to understand the motor experience in children’s first years, soas to develop a psycho-motor education according to children’s needs in their earlystages. We inquire into the nature of pedagogical mediation required to guaranteethe child the maximum of opportunities. We confront the available interdisciplinarytheoretical knowledge with the author’s experience in actual pedagogical practiceobservation. In this development we ask ourselves: To what extent “the good theory”available is the one that enlightens the educational action with young childrencurrently attending education centers? This question is highly relevant consideringthe increasing tendency to early incorporate children to nurseries, particularly ifthe focus of public policies is centered on deprived children, whose future opportunitieswill largely be provided by an education of quality. We will briefly outlinesome considerations about the dimensions of a motor education in accordance withchildren’s vital-social needs.
Bid participates in genotoxic drug-induced apoptosis of HeLa cells and is essential for death receptor ligands' apoptotic and synergistic effects
Background: The BH3-only protein Bid is an important component of death receptor-mediated caspase activation. Bid is cleaved by caspase-8 or -10 into t-Bid, which translocates to mitochondria and triggers the release of caspase-activating factors. Bid has also been reported to be cleaved by other proteases. Methodology/Principal Findings: To test the hypothesis that Bid is a central mediator of stress-induced apoptosis, we investigated the effects of a small molecule Bid inhibitor on stress-induced apoptosis, and generated HeLa cells deficient for Bid. Stable knockdown of bid lead to a pronounced resistance to Fas/CD95- and TRAIL-induced caspase activation and apoptosis, and significantly increased clonogenic survival. While Bid-deficient cells were equally sensitive to ER stress-induced apoptosis, they showed moderate, but significantly reduced levels of apoptosis, as well as increased clonogenic survival in response to the genotoxic drugs Etoposide, Oxaliplatin, and Doxorubicin. Similar effects were observed using the Bid inhibitor BI6C9. Interestingly, Bid-deficient cells were dramatically protected from apoptosis when subtoxic concentrations of ER stressors, Etoposide or Oxaliplatin were combined with subtoxic TRAIL concentrations. Conclusions/Significance: Our data demonstrate that Bid is central for death receptor-induced cell death and participates in anti-cancer drug-induced apoptosis in human cervical cancer HeLa cells. They also show that the synergistic effects of TRAIL in combination with either ER stressors or genotoxic anti-cancer drugs are nearly exclusively mediated via an increased activation of Bid-induced apoptosis signalling
Variations in multiple birth rates and impact on perinatal outcomes in Europe
Objective: Infants from multiple pregnancies have higher rates of preterm birth, stillbirth and neonatal death and differences in multiple birth rates (MBR) exist between countries. We aimed to describe differences in MBR in Europe and to investigate the impact of these differences on adverse perinatal outcomes at a population level. Methods: We used national aggregate birth data on multiple pregnancies, maternal age, gestational age (GA), stillbirth and neonatal death collected in the Euro-Peristat project (29 countries in 2010, N = 5 074 643 births). We also used European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) data on assisted conception and single embryo transfer (SET). The impact of MBR on outcomes was studied using meta-analysis techniques with randomeffects models to derive pooled risk ratios (pRR) overall and for four groups of country defined by their MBR. We computed population attributable risks (PAR) for these groups. Results: In 2010, the average MBR was 16.8 per 1000 women giving birth, ranging from 9.1 (Romania) to 26.5 (Cyprus). Compared to singletons, multiples had a nine-fold increased risk (pRR 9.4, 95% Cl 9.1-9.8) of preterm birth (<37 weeks GA), an almost 12-fold increased risk (pRR 11.7, 95% CI 11.0-12.4) of very preterm birth (<32 weeks GA). Pooled RR were 2.4 (95% Cl1.5-3.6) for fetal mortality at or after 28 weeks GA and 7.0 (95% Cl 6.1-8.0) for neonatal mortality. PAR of neonatal death and very preterm birth were higher in countries with high MBR compared to low MBR (17.1% (95% CI 13.8-20.2) versus 9.8% (95% Cl 9.6-11.0) for neonatal death and 29.6% (96% CI 28.5-30.6) versus 17.5% (95% CI 15.7-18.3) for very preterm births, respectively). Conclusions: Wide variations in MBR and their impact on population outcomes imply that efforts by countries to reduce MBR could improve perinatal outcomes, enabling better long-term child health. © 2016 Heino et al.
