La movilidad transfronteriza México-Guatemala desde la representación cotidiana de los trabajadores centroamericanos
This study explores the human mobility experience of transborder workers who travel to localities in Chiapas for the purpose of working in a specific economic sector. The workers, who are primarily Central Americans, experience everyday life trajectories that are shaped by mobility practices linked to migratory, labor, and private spheres. From the social perspective of everyday life, the author seeks to analyze this sector’s border crossing experience, which occurs in one of the most important regions with regard to population flow: the southern border between Mexico and Guatemala. A labor market has been formed in this region in which some social actors are able to construct ways of life based on their daily mobility and their recognition of a difficult and controlled spatial and temporal dimension.Este trabajo está centrado en explorar la experiencia de la movilidad humana de los trabajadores transfronterizos que viajan a localidades de Chiapas para trabajar en algún sector económico específico. Los trabajadores, en su mayoría centroamericanos, experimentan trayectorias de la vida cotidiana bajo prácticas específicas de movilidad que involucran ámbitos migratorios, laborales y privados. El presente artículo busca analizar, desde la perspectiva social de la vida cotidiana, la experiencia del cruce fronterizo de un sector específico en una de las regiones más importantes en cuanto a flujo poblacional refiere: la frontera sur entre México y Guatemala. La triple frontera: propuesta conceptual para explicar las dinámicas de la región fronteriza entre México y Guatemala
The purpose of this article is to explain the cross-border region between Mexico and Guatemala by deconstructing the concept of border and proposing an epistemological scheme in which different analytical categories and dimensions converge for its study. It is explained that the state-centric paradigm limits openness to dialogue with other ways of imagining border regions and human mobilities. In this sense, the viewpoints, currents and approaches that have studied the border between Mexico and Guatemala as a heterogeneous concept were retaken, in order to propose in this text that the studied cross-border context is constantly reconfigured in nuances, contradictions and ambiguities.O objetivo deste trabalho é explicar a região transfronteiriça entre México e Guatemala desconstruindo o conceito de fronteira e propondo um esquema epistemológico no qual convergem distintas categorias analíticas e dimensões para seu estudo. Expõe-se que o paradigma estadocêntrico limita o diálogo entre outras formas de imaginar as regiões fronteiriças e as mobilizações humanas. Nesse sentido, retomaram-se olhares, correntes e enfoques que estudaram a fronteira entre México e Guatemala como um conceito heterogêneo, para assim propor, neste texto, que o contexto transfronteiriço estudado se reconfigura constantemente em matizes, contradições e ambiguidades.El objetivo de este trabajo es explicar la región transfronteriza entre México y Guatemala deconstruyendo el concepto de frontera y proponiendo un esquema epistemológico en el que converjan distintas categorías analíticas y dimensiones para su estudio. Se expone que el paradigma estadocéntrico limita la apertura a dialogar otras formas de imaginar las regiones fronterizas y las movilidades humanas. Las bibliotecas académicas y los profesionales de la información de cara al contexto de la Inteligencia Artificial generativa: el caso de la biblioteca jesuita Dr. Jorge Villalobos Padilla S.J.
This text analyzes the mediating role of academic libraries in the context of generative artificial intelligence (GAI), with particular attention to the training and professional development of information specialists. The Jesuit library Dr. Jorge Villalobos Padilla S.J. at ITESO is taken as a case study. Based on a qualitative methodology and participant observation, the study gathers experiences, workshops, and programs developed within the ReflexIA project, as well as micro-workshops offered by librarians during 2024. Key skills that information professionals need to develop in the GAI era are identified: technical knowledge of tools, critical capacity to evaluate AI-generated content, among others. The library is recognized not only as a technology adopter, but also as a promoter of educational processes and ethical debates within the academic community. GAI represents an opportunity to rethink the functions of the library and the roles of library staff. The importance of continuous training, critical thinking, and ethics is highlighted as core pillars for keeping libraries as formative entities in today’s educational landscape.Este texto analiza el papel mediador de las bibliotecas académicas en el contexto de la inteligencia artificial generativa (IAG), con especial atención al proceso de formación y actualización de los profesionales de la información. Se toma como caso de estudio la biblioteca jesuita Dr. Jorge Villalobos Padilla S.J. del ITESO. A partir de una metodología cualitativa, basada en la observación participante, se recuperan experiencias, talleres y programas desarrollados en el proyecto ReflexIA, así como microtalleres ofrecidos por bibliotecarios durante 2024. Se identifican habilidades clave que los profesionales de la información deben desarrollar en la era de la IAG: conocimiento técnico de herramientas, capacidad crítica para evaluar información generada por IA, entre otros. Se reconoce que la biblioteca no solo adopta tecnologías, sino que también impulsa procesos formativos y debates éticos dentro de la comunidad académica. La IAG representa una oportunidad para repensar las funciones de la biblioteca y los roles del personal bibliotecario. Se destaca la importancia de la formación continua, el pensamiento crítico y la ética como ejes de acción para que las bibliotecas se mantengan como entidades formadoras en el contexto educativo actual
REPENSAR LAS FRONTERAS: UNA REVISIÓN BIBLIOGRÁFICA (2011-2021)
Se desarrolló una genealogía del concepto de frontera, reconstruyendo el concepto mismo. Se buscó entender la idea de frontera en su forma más genérica, como un espacio polisémico, dinámico y privilegiado para el estudio de las movilidades y las migraciones internacionales. Es revisada como concepto y como categoría, especialmente en su naturaleza compleja, heterogénea y poliédrica. Históricamente se le ha discutido filosófica y epistemológicamente; de toda la literatura que se ha producido sobre la frontera durante los últimos diez años, encontramos que hay acepciones y dimensiones que colocan a la frontera como un significado valioso para entender las realidades contemporáneas

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. La cobertura de las primeras caravanas de migrantes en los medios informativos mexicanos
The media in Mexico have played a fundamental role in the social construction of the migratory reality and, in this regard, it was suggested that, on the issue of migrant caravans, some of them have performed thorough and rigorous coverage as a result of journalistic research, while others have not. The focus of this work is mixed and its scope is descriptive. Ten media outlets were analyzed, specifically 1,048 journalistic texts on the issue of migrant caravans, from October 2018 to February 2019. Quality indicators were used to analysis in the journalistic coverage and the results showed that certain media have a greater attachment to these indicators, while others tend to present a neutral-negative assessment.Los medios informativos en México han tenido un papel fundamental en la construcción social de la realidad migratoria y en ese sentido, se planteó en este trabajo que, en el caso las caravanas de migrantes, provenientes principalmente de Centroamérica, algunos medios han realizado una cobertura de fondo y rigurosa como resultado de la investigación periodística, mientras que otros han carecido de ese enfoque. La metodología empleada fue mixta y su alcance es descriptivo. Se analizaron diez medios informativos, con una muestra total de mil 48 textos periodísticos sobre el tema de las caravanas de migrantes, de octubre del año 2018 a febrero del año 2019. Se usaron indicadores de calidad para analizar la cobertura periodística y los resultados mostraron que determinados medios poseen mayor apego a esos indicadores, mientras que otros tienden a presentar una valoración neutra-negativa.
