    History that comes to us as a chronology of events is really a collective existence that is evolving through several stages to develop Individuality in all members of the society. The human community, nation states, linguistic groups, local castes and classes, and families are the intermediate stages in development of the Individual. The social process moves through phases of survival, growth, development and evolution. In the process it organizes the consciousness of its members at successive levels from social external manners, formed behavior, value-based character and personality to culminate in the development of Individuality. Through this process, society evolves from physicality to Mentality. The power of accomplishment in society and its members develops progressively through stages of skill, capacity, talent, and ability. Original thinking is made possible by the prior development of thinking that organizes facts into information. The immediate result of the last world war was a shift in reliance from physical force and action to mental conception and mental activity on a global scale. At such times no problem need defy solution, if only humanity recognizes the occasion for thinking and Original Thinking. The apparently insoluble problems we confront are an opportunity to formulate a comprehensive theory of social evolution. The immediate possibility is to devise complete solutions to all existing problems, if only we use the right method of thought development

    Review on solar dryers for drying fish, fruits, and vegetables

    India is one of the highly developing countries in the world and it has the second-largest agricultural source of income, which covers 61% of the entire income of the country. The most valuable income group, by giving the appropriate training in this technology, will make their entire country to become one of the most highly developing counties in the world. In recent years, many developing, developed, and underdeveloped countries face shortages of fish, fruits, and vegetables due to natural disasters like earthquakes, tsunami, and any other unexpected events. Now the main issue of this paper is to preserve the food products from post-harvest to consumer-level, which cover 60% of losses due to the unavailability of preservative methods. This paper mainly focused on the conventional methods to advanced solar drying technologies for perseverating fish, fruits, and vegetables and also it discusses the technology used for drying the yield range of fish like Atheriniformes, Catfish, Chilwa, etc. Fruits like banana, mango, and papaya, and vegetables like bitter gourd, cabbage, and cocoa beans have been reviewed and also discussed some problems along with their solutions in concern with food products drying, thereby the selection of dryer for drying products will be made easy by this review article. On the whole, this investigation would help researchers in fish drying to choose the better drying methods for acquiring better results for particular fish, fruits, and vegetables that enable any entrepreneur to select the appropriate method reducing the cost and time

    Neural correlates of elbow joint kinematic variability:

    A fundamental tenet of motor control is that point-to-point reaching motions follow an approximately straight line trajectory with a bell-shaped velocity profile. However, these abstractions are not universally observed. Previous work in our lab revealed that most spatiotemporal elbow trajectories do not necessarily conform to a straight-line, which is believed to be ‘natural’ human motion. Instead, spatiotemporal trajectories are best characterized by a small set of simple, analytic functions including both linear and non-linear waveforms. Here, I suggest that the differences observed in elbow kinematics are a direct consequence of varying motor planning, which is represented by the electromyography (EMG). Fourteen healthy subjects were asked to perform several self-paced, untargeted elbow articulations that maximize smoothness within a comfortable range of motion; EMG of the biceps and kinematic traces were recorded simultaneously. Kinematic traces were modeled by a set of simple, monotonic functions, while EMG traces were reconstructed by parabolic waveforms, via a parameterized curve-fitting method. EMG traces (r-EMG) and their parabolic reconstructions (p-EMG) were used independently to predict adherence to each of 3 kinematic types. It was hypothesized that the p-EMG and r-EMG from the kinematic adherence group (r2 > 0.9979) would exhibit statistical and parametric differences from the departure group (r2 < 0.9951) of the same kinematic type. Both r-EMG and p-EMG were useful in predicting adherence to global kinematic morphology with high sensitivity and specificity across subjects. Coupling the substantial predictive value and the similar information content (87.80% of the decisions were identical) of both EMG modalities implied that p-EMG can be used as a simple, informative approximant of r-EMG of the biceps during self-paced, untargeted elbow flexions. The features selected for classification were robust across subjects along with the predictive value, suggesting there is degeneracy in the neural command. Degeneracy in the neural command matches the widespread observation of highly stereotyped kinematics. Elbow trajectories most commonly adhered to sigmoid morphology.     Challenges and Opportunities for Complexity Analysis in Food-Energy-Water Interdependent Systems

    abstract: The Food-Energy-Water (FEW) nexus is the interaction and the interdependence of the food, energy and water systems. These interdependencies exist in all parts of the world yet little knowledge exists of the complexity within these interdependent systems. Using Arizona as a case study, systems-oriented frameworks are examined for their value in revealing the complexity of FEW nexus. Industrial Symbiosis, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Urban Metabolism are examined. The Industrial Symbiosis presents the system as purely a technical one and looks only at technology and hard infrastructure. The LCA framework takes a reductionist approach and tries to make the system manageable by setting boundary conditions. This allows the frameworks to analyze the soft infrastructure as well as the hard infrastructure. The LCA framework also helps determine potential impact. Urban Metabolism analyzes the interactions between the different infrastructures within the confines of the region and retains the complexity of the system. It is concluded that a combination of the frameworks may provide the most insight in revealing the complexity of nexus and guiding decision makers towards improving sustainability and resilience

    The Warwick Hip Trauma Evaluation – an abridged protocol for the WHiTE Study : a multiple embedded randomised controlled trial cohort study

    Fractures of the proximal femur are one of the greatest challenges facing the medical community, constituting a heavy socioeconomic burden worldwide. The National Hip Fracture Audit currently provides a framework for service evaluation. This evaluation is based upon the assessment of process rather than assessment of patient-centred outcome and therefore it fails to provide meaningful data regarding the clinical effectiveness of treatments. This study aims to capture data from the cohort of patients who present with a fracture of the proximal femur at a single United Kingdom Major Trauma Centre. Patient-centred outcomes will be recorded and provide a baseline cohort within which to test the clinical effectiveness of experimental interventions

    Stable extended finite element method: Convergence, Accuracy, Properties and Diffpack implementation

    peer reviewedProblems involving singularities and moving boundaries, especially when they involve discontinuities, create difficulties for the finite element method. On another, albeit related, front, two diametrally opposed approaches are attempting to simplify the CAD to Analysis pipeline: isogeometric methods on the one hand [1] aim at coupling the geometry and field approximations, whilst implicit boundary definition-based methods attempt to decouple them [3,4,5]. We examine in this paper one instance of the latter approach, and rely on partition of unity enrichment of the field variable to capture discontinuities along material interface or domain boundaries. We study in particular the stable generalized finite element method of Babuˇka and Banerjee [6] for higher order approximations in two and three dimensions and propose a generic implementation within the C++ library Diffpack from inuTech GmbH [7]. In a companion paper, the implementation of enrichment within Diffpack is presented in more detail. We will present results obtained with our 3D implementation of partition of unity enrichment within Diffpack. This implementation represents the interfaces through level-sets and palliates blending problems using various approaches. We study here the stabilisation approach proposed in [6] in more detail and pay particular attention to the global convergence rate of the approach and to the stability and the local flux converence close to the interfaces

    Adapting Language Models for Non-Parallel Author-Stylized Rewriting

    Given the recent progress in language modeling using Transformer-based neural models and an active interest in generating stylized text, we present an approach to leverage the generalization capabilities of a language model to rewrite an input text in a target author's style. Our proposed approach adapts a pre-trained language model to generate author-stylized text by fine-tuning on the author-specific corpus using a denoising autoencoder (DAE) loss in a cascaded encoder-decoder framework. Optimizing over DAE loss allows our model to learn the nuances of an author's style without relying on parallel data, which has been a severe limitation of the previous related works in this space. To evaluate the efficacy of our approach, we propose a linguistically-motivated framework to quantify stylistic alignment of the generated text to the target author at lexical, syntactic and surface levels. The evaluation framework is both interpretable as it leads to several insights about the model, and self-contained as it does not rely on external classifiers, e.g. sentiment or formality classifiers. Qualitative and quantitative assessment indicates that the proposed approach rewrites the input text with better alignment to the target style while preserving the original content better than state-of-the-art baselines
