Telgemeier, Raina. Sisters. New York: Scholastic, 2014.  Print. In this graphic novel, Telgemeier tells the story of two sisters - namely herself, Raina, and her sister, Amara.  Raina dreams of the day she will become a big sister but, when that day arrives, it is nothing like she imagined.  Her younger sister likes to play by herself, is always cranky and does not want much interaction with anybody, including the long-lost cousins they visit.  We watch as the family grows bigger in an apartment that seems to shrink.  Tight quarters do not help the relationship between Raina and Amara especially when each girl wants her own privacy.  In a story told over a long family road trip mixed in with memories from the past, Raina comes to see maybe having a sister, even one who is different than she expected, is maybe not so bad after all.Telgemeier’s drawing will delight readers with her characteristic colourful pictures that are easy to absorb and understand.  Young readers will know when the author is in the present tense and when she is relating a story in the past as the colours of the pages turn a time-worn yellow.  This makes the jumping back and forth in time a smooth transition for readers.  In a story that is relatable about siblings, family life and growing up, young readers will find her humour funny and timely.  This book is a must-have for every school and public library.Highly recommended: 4 out of 4 starsReviewer: Shawna ManchakowskyShawna Manchakowsky recently completed her MLIS at the University of Alberta.  When she is not working at Rutherford Library as a Public Service Assistant, she can be found with her husband parenting her two young girls; avoiding any kind of cooking; and reading for her two book clubs. In between book club titles, she tries to read as much teen fiction as she can get away with

Nuorten aineistossa esille nousi toive vaikuttamisen mahdollisuudesta pajatoimintaan. According to various estimations, in Finland there are from 14 000 to 100 000 young people in the risk of social exclusion. The large variation between different estimations comes from the lack of exact definition of the term risk of social exclusion. The reasons and consequences of risk of social exclusion have been studied by statistics. There are few qualitative studies of youth in the risk of social exclusion as well as studies of activities to how reduce or prevent social exclusion. The aim of this report is find out experiencies of youth workshop activities on preventing or reducing social exclusion. The basis of this report is the risk of social exclusion as phenomenon and youth workshop activities. Additionally report looks into key targets of youth workshop activities which are social empowerment and inclusion. The target groups of my examination were young people under the age of 29 years who have been participating in youth workshop activities in Social Foundation Raina (later Raina-foundation), coaches who have worked with the youth and steering group which evaluate the activities of youth workshop. I collected the data with questionnaires to youth and their coaches. I also organized group interviews separately with youth, coaches and steering group. In my data analysis, I picked the ideas and requests to develop activities as a focal point. The need to develop available training forms to the youth stood up from both questionnaires. The youth also gave development ideas regarding the implementation of traineeships. The youth appreciated group activities as an important and valuable part of workshop’s function. In the data gathered from the youth, there was some hope to have a chance to influence the workshop functions. From the data, we can see that expectations of the youth are broad and even conflicting when they start the period at the workshop. For example, on workshop period youth might have a target to rehabilitate but also to complete a degree in a vocational school. The coaches appreciated group activities as a good method on coaching the youth and they hope to develop it ever further. Group activity is also answer to steering group as they set target to offer alternatives and future views to the youth. Inclusion was one of the other goals which stood up from the steering group conversation. My report indicated that it is important to listen the youth, the coaches who are working with the youth and the steering group which evaluates operations, when we want to develop operations which aim to reduce or prevent the risk of youth social exclusion. The examination is hard due various perspectives, but it gives reliability to the results. As a topic for further study, I would pick the question what kind of events, activities or things advance the social empowerment of the youth during workshop functions. During data collecting, the most fruitful results came from youth group discussion. The development ideas that came from the the discussion were more suited to the youth context. Prepping the group discussion with a questionary or another method can be adapted to any organisation, when you want ideas from the youth. It also grows inclusion stronger
