    Moisture absorption and diffusivity of epoxy filled layered-structure nanocomposite

    This paper studies moisture absorption and diffusivity of epoxy reinforced layered structure nanocomposites and its effect on fracture toughness. Two different types of layered fillers employed in the study were clay and graphene platelets, in which both surface layers were unmodified and modified by characterized by swelling analysis and fracture toughness measurement. The outcomes surfactant. The nanocomposites were showed that the moisture absorption and diffusivity decreased with the addition of layered fillers. It was found that the modified graphene platelets and clay outperformed the unmodified layers and neat epoxy in terms of reduction of moisture absorption and diffusivity. The modified graphene platelets reduced the moisture uptake and diffusivity about 30% and 33%, respectively compare to neat epoxy, thus indicates its outstanding performance in barrier applications. However, once the nanocomposites were swelling in the water for 5 days, it is noticed that the fracture toughness of nanocomposites were reduced significantly about 35% in average. Nevertheless, the modified graphene platelets still display the better performance compare to the other samples although there was reduction of fracture toughness

    There are so many forecasting algorithms and techniques available. The abilities of Data Mining to obtain and gather data from multiple sources is very useful to researcher, practitioner, business and more. From a long list of forecasting algorithms that have been built throughout the years, it will be exhaustive for someone to go through the list one by one to choose which algorithm to use. With M competition established, there are many more new techniques being innovated each time it is organized. This research aims to compare and contrast the machine learning forecasting techniques that are used in M4 Competition, to get better understanding on each technique and to identify the best technique. Three machine learning techniques from M4 Competition were chosen to be compared in this research. Each technique was replicated, trained and tested accordingly. M4 competition dataset was used in this research, with 100,000 time series data and multiple data frequency, which is enough to replicate the real-world situation. The results indicate that the three techniques have their strength, with RNN+ES technique on top of it. RNN+ES and CNN-TS performed well in relative to Naive2 benchmark, while k-NS model performed the worst. Further research on the datasets and investigation of each model to further improve its capabilities are needed to improve the performance of the model

    Development of latex-based as new coagulant for industrial coolant wastewater treatment / Ku Halim Ku Hamid and Salina Abdul Rahman

    In recent years, polymer application has become more important in wastewater treatment due to easier sludge disposal, reduction in cost for chemical consumption and increase pollutant removal efficiencies. It can be used either as coagulant or coagulant aid to destabilize and aggregate colloidal particles. In this study, industrial coolant wastewater was treated with latex-based material as a new coagulant. Latex is a liquid particle of rubber in an aqueous serum containing various kinds of organic and inorganic substances. It can be coagulated by adding acetic acid (1 %) or formic acid (0.5 %). Composition of latex are varies depending upon botanical species and influenced by biological and climate. Characteristic of the industrial coolant wastewater was determined before and after the treatment. It was found that COD of the wastewater was reduced to 99.9 percent and comply the Environmental Standard to be discharged to the monsoon drain after polishing with commercial grade of activated carbon and dilution process

    This article aims to see how the role of Sheikh Abdul Halim Khatib in the spread of Islam in Mandailing Natal. Sheikh Abdul Halim Khatib is a major scholar figure who is quite well known in Mandailing Natal and its surroundings. However, the role of Sheikh Abdul Halim Khatib in developing the religion of Islam, especially in Purbabaru, the people there participated in many recitations, and the people there were more active in religion. The researcher aims to find out the historical process of the entry and development of Islam in Mandailing Natal, the life of Sheikh Abdul Halim Khatib and his role in the development of Islam in Mandailing Natal and the writings of Sheikh Abdul Halim Khatib in spreading Islam in Mandailing. The research that the author is doing is field research using historical research methods, and this research was conducted in Purbabaru Village, Lembah Sorik Marapi District, Mandailing Natal Regency, and the informants in this study were Musthafawiyah alums who were considered more knowledgeable about the role of Sheikh Abdul Halim Preacher. Sheikh Abdul Halim Khatib's relationship with the community is different from that of his teacher, Sheikh Musthafa Husein because he teaches more in the classroom, such as giving recitations at home to the community and his students on a scheduled basis, and Sheikh Abdul Halim Khatib has knowledge in the field of Sufism

    How Vulnerable are Bangladesh’s Indigenous People to Climate Change?

    This paper compares the vulnerabilities to climate change and climate variability of the indigenous people with the Bengali population of Bangladesh. It distinguishes between (a) individual vulnerabilities that are related to an individual’s capability to adapt to climate change and; (b) spatial vulnerabilities, that is, vulnerabilities that are related to the location of a person (like the exposure to climate change-induced disasters). While an individual’s capability to adapt to climate change is determined by many factors, some relatively simple approximation is to look at poverty, landlessness, and illiteracy. Spatial vulnerabilities are reviewed by looking at drought hazard maps, flood hazard maps, landslide hazard maps, and cyclone hazard maps. Hence, the paper compares levels of poverty, landlessness, illiteracy, and the more direct though also more subjective exposures to increased droughts, floods, landslides, and cyclones across the two population groups. The paper concludes with some broad suggestions on adaptation strategies of indigenous people as well as suggestions for policy interventions to reduce climate change-induced vulnerabilities for indigenous people in the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT).Bangladesh, climate change, vulnerability

Nurur Rahman Tamanan Mosque, Bondowoso is one of the institutions that is included as a Non-profit entity, which in its management requires making financial statements as a Form of accountability for funds. Which has been obtained. The financial statements of Non-profit entities include statements of financial position, statements of Comprehensive income, statements of net assets, statements of cash flows and notes to Financial statements. Included in the type of descriptive qualitative research. The data collection technique used in this research is to use observation, documentation and interviews. While the results of his research explain that the Nurur Rahman Tamanan Mosque is not in accordance with the current standards, namely ISAK NO 35 in making its financial statement

    The modern computing applications are presently adapting to the convenient availability of huge and diverse data for making their pattern recognition methods smarter. Identification of dominant emotion solely based on the text data generated by the humans is essential for the modern human-computer interaction. This work presents a multimodal text-keystrokes dataset and associated learning methods for the identification of human emotions hidden in small text. For this, a text-keystrokes data of 69 participants is collected in multiple scenarios. Stimuli are induced through videos in a controlled environment. After the stimuli induction, participants write their reviews about the given scenario in an unguided manner. Afterward, keystroke and in-text features are extracted from the dataset. These are used with an assortment of learning methods to identify emotion hidden in the short text. An accuracy of 86.95% is achieved by fusing text and keystroke features. Whereas, 100% accuracy is obtained for pleasure-displeasure classes of emotions using the fusion of keystroke/text features, tree-based feature selection method, and support vector machine classifier. The present work is also compared with four state-of-the-art techniques for the same task, where the results suggest that the present proposal performs better in terms of accuracy
