    Daun dewa is tradional medicine plants, containts flavonoid, saponin alkaloid, tannin and atsiri oil. The aim of this research is to know the effect of daun dewa extract to the growth of candida albicans on acrylic resin denture base.The research used 31 heat cured acrylic resin discuses with 10 mm in diameter  and 2 mm in thickness. The subjects were incubated in 10 ml candida albicans suspension for 24 hours at 37â°C. the subjects were divided into 3 groups . each group consisted of 10 acrilic resin discuses soaked in daun dewa extract with different concentration , 25%, 5%, 10%. The control was soaked in sterile aquades. The duration of soaking was 8 hours at room temperature. The solution 0.,01 ml from serial dilutions 10⻳ were planted in sabouraund dextrose Agar Media. They were incubated. Four 48 hours at 37â° and the colonies of candida albicans were counted. The collected data were analyzed by using one way Analysis varian and t-test.The result showed that there was a significant difference of daun dewa extract among 2,5%, 5% and 10% concentrations to the growth of candida albicans (p<0.05). the conclution of this research was that the daun dewa extrac has an effect to reduce the growth of candida albicans on acrylic resin denture base. 10% concentrations of daun dewa extract is the most effective in reducing to the growth of candida albicans.Keyword : daun dewa, candida albicans, acrylic resin denture bas

    EFFECTIVITY ANTIBACTERIAL ZINC OXIDE EUGENOL WITH ZINC OXIDE PROPOLIS FOR ENDODONTIC TREATMENT IN PRIMARY TEETH

    Background: Enterococcus faecalis is generally found on the failure of root canal treatments. Zinc oxide propolis is believed to have an antibacterial effect on that bacteria. This research aimed to compare bacteriostatic effect of zinc oxide eugenol (ZOE) and zinc oxide propolis (ZOP) as the sealer materials of root canal.Method: This was an experimental research with post-test only control group design with two different groups (ZOE and ZOP). Culture of Enterococcus faecalis bacteria was smeared on Blood Agar Plate media with six times replication per group and kept inside incubator for 24 hours. The result was obtained from the inhibition zone formed around the pasta.Result: The average result of ZOE and ZOP was 27.7 mm and 13.45 mm respectively. Normality test using Shapiro-Wilks showed that data was normal (p>0.05). Then, the data was analysed using Independent Samples T-test. The result showed that there was different inhibition zone between ZOE group and ZOP group (p<0.05).Conclusion: Based on the result, it can be concluded that ZOP has lower antibacterial effectiveness of the Enterococcus faecalis than ZOE

    AbstrakPeriodontitis adalah inflamasi kronis pada jaringan periodontal yang didahui olehgingivitis dan mengakibatkan kerusakan permanen jaringan pendukung gigi. Salahsatu terapi penyembuhan periodontitis adalah kuretase gingiva. Prosespenyembuhan periodontitis terjadi 2-7 hari pasca kuretase gingiva. Angiogenesismerupakan salah satu tolak ukur dalam penyembuhan luka. Propolis mengandungflavonoid yang berfungsi sebagai anti-inflamasi dan pro-angiogenesis sehinggadapat mempercepat penyembuhan luka. Near infrared (NIR) menyebabkanvasodilatasi pembuluh darah, sehingga oksigen dan nutrisi ke jaringan luka lebihbanyak, mengakibatkan penyembuhan luka cepat terjadi. Penelitian ini bertujuanuntuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian topikal gel propolis 10% dan fototerapi nearinfrared pada penyembuhan luka pasca kuretase ditinjau dari angiogenesis.Penelitian ini merupakan Laboratories Experimental dengan desain Post Test OnlyControl Group. Sampel yang digunakan adalah 36 tikus jantan Sprague dawley yangdibagi menjadi 4 kelompok yaitu: kelompok yang diberi gel propolis 10%, NIR, gelpropolis 10% + NIR, dan kelompok kontrol. Pembuatan preparat dilakukan padahari ke-3, 7, 14, dan pewarnaan menggunakan cat Hematoxylin Eosin. Analisis datamenggunakan uji Kruskall-Wallis dengan uji lanjutan Mann Whitney. Hasilpenelitian menunjukkan rerata jumlah angiogenesis pada kelompok gel propolis10% + NIR memiliki hasil tertinggi pada hari ke-3, 7, dan 14. Berdasarkan ujiKruskall-Wallis didapatkan hasil angiogenesis hari ke-3 p=0.022, hari ke-7p=0.021, dan hari ke-14 p=0.023 (p0.05. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapatpengaruh penggunaan gel propolis 10% dan near infrared terhadap penyembuhanluka pasca kuretase dilihat dari peningkatan angiogenesis.Kata Kunci: Periodontitis, Angiogenesis, Propolis, Near Infrare

    Introduction: Fennel plant is known as a medicine plant. Fennel plant parts that have the highest content is the seed. Essential oils, flavonoids, and saponins contained in fennel seed have an influence against candida albicans growth. Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the influence of various concentrations of fennel seed extract as a denture  cleanser against candida albicans growth on acrilyc plate. Methods: This research was an experimental laboratoty and study design was an experimental with post test only control group design. Total sample is 30 acrilyc plate measuring 6x1 cm. The sample were divided into 6 groups, 5 groups were  soaked in various concentrations of fennel seed extract (20%, 40%, 60%, 80%, 100%) and one groups was soaked in control positive polident. Soaking was done for 5 minutes. Candida  albicans were incubated for 48 hours at 37˚C. The result of this study were analyzed by one-way ANOVA and LSD (Least  Significance Difference). Results: Based on the one-way ANOVA test was done then  obtained significance value of 0,000 (p0,05) which means there are no significant differences between two groups. Conclusion: The researchers’ conclusion that there was the influence of various concentration of fennel seed extract as a denture cleanser against candida albicans growth on aclilyc plate.     Background: Ulcer is a pathological condition characterized by loss of epithelial tissue. Ulcer will experience healing within 2 weeks after trauma source is removed. Nigella sativa Oil has been known to heal wounds. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of NSO on healing of ulcers in male wistar rats from the use of chemicals. Method: This study design was quasi-experimental methods. Ten male wistar rats were exposing the H2O2 on the mandibular anterior gingiva. divided into negatif control group and NSO group. NSO group treated twice daily for 10 days. Observaton wound size was measured on 0, 3,7, 10 days. The results were analayzed with Repeated Anova test and LSD test. Result: The observations difference diameter of traumatic ulcer negative control group and NSO on 0-10 days was 1.458 mm and 2.182 mm. The results of data analysis showed that there are significant differences (p<0,05) between negatif control group and NSO. Conclusion: NSO has an influence of the size reduction of the diameter of traumatic ulcers

    AbstrakUlkus mulut dapat dialami berbagai jenis kalangan tanpa memandang usia, jeniskelamin, pekerjaan, danlokasi tempat tinggal. Rasa tidak nyaman dan sakit yangdiakibatkan ulkus dapat diatasi dengan obat antiinflamasi. Gel ekstrak daunbinahong memiliki kandungan flavonoid dan saponin yang berperan sebagaiantiinflamasi sehingga dapat menyeimbangkan ekspresi TNF-α sebagai agenproinflamasi yang kemudian fase inflamasi dapat cepat terlewati. Tujuan daripenelitian berikut ialah guna menganalisis ekstrak daun binahong (Anrederacordifolia) 40% terhadap ekspresi Tumor Necrosis Factor-α (TNF-α) padapenyembuhan ulkus mulut. Penelitian berikut berjenis true exsperimentallaboratories post test only, terdiri dari 6 kelompok yaitu gel ekstrak daun binahong40%, gel CMC-Na dan gel hyaluronic acid pada hari ke-3 dan hari ke-5. Sampelpenelitian menggunakan blok parafin. Penelitian berikut menggunakan ujinormalitas dengan Shapiro Wilk dengan hasil data normal dan uji homogenitasdengan uji Levene Statistic dengan hasil data homogen dengan nilai p = 0,179(p>0,05). Data penelitian dianalisis menggunakan uji One Way ANOVA denganhasil ekspresi TNF-α menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan, dengan nilai p =0,000 (p0,05). Hasil analisis data menunjukkan pemberian gel ekstrak daun binhongmampu menurunkan ekspresi TNF-α, dengan rata-rata pada kelompok gel CMC-Nalebih tinggi (41,65) dibandingkan kelompok gel ekstrak daun binahong 40% (36,96).Kesimpulan dari penelitian berikut ialah gel ekstrak daun binahong mempunyai efekantiinflamasi serta mempercepat penyembuhan ulkus mulut.Kata Kunci : Gel ekstrak daun binahong, TNF-α, Proses Inflamas

    Background: Bleeding is often found in dental practice. Excessive bleeding can hinder wound healing. For the surgeon to achieve rapid and effective hemostasis is important. Therefore, a topical hemocoagulation solution is given to help control surface bleeding by applying it locally. One such topical agent is Feracrylum. Feracrylum is a polymer of polyacrylic acid containing 0.05 to 0.5% iron. Feracrylum iron element will react with albumin and then convert water-soluble fibrinogen into water-insoluble fibrin which then forms a coagulum. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of Feracrylum 1% and Feracrylum 4% in stopping bleeding after gingival incision.Method: This study is a true experimental study that includes 3 treatment groups, namely the group without being given hemostatic agents, the group being given Feracrylum 1%, and the group being given Feracrylum 4%, each group consisting of 9 rats. Data were collected by calculating the bleeding time from the start of bleeding until the bleeding stopped after the gingival incision using a stopwatch and then recorded. Data analysis using Shapiro-Wilk, homogeneity test using Levene Test, nonparametric test using Kruskal-Wallis and Mann Whitney.Result: The results showed that the average bleeding time in the group without hemostatic agents, the group receiving 1% Feracrylum, and the group receiving Feracrylum 4% was 221 seconds, 103 seconds, and 50 seconds. The results of the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann Whitney showed that there was a significant difference in bleeding time between groups.Conclusion: The conclusion of this study is that the application of Feracrylum 4% was faster in stopping bleeding compared to the application of Feracrylum 1% after gingival incision in wistar rats

    Background: An incision wound is a type of open wound obtained using a scalpel by paying attention to the size, location and purpose of the wound. Collagen has an important role during the wound healing process. The content that can trigger the formation of collagen is phenolic compounds such as oleuropein, oleocanthal, and luteolin that can be found in olive oil. This study aims to determine the effect of olive oil cream 5% on the amounts of collagen on incision wounds process.Method: A quasy experimental design in vivo with a post-test only control group design on 12 wistar rats. The control group and the experimental group with 5% olive oil cream. Incision wounds was seen from the amount of collagen using One-Way Anova analysis.Result: The study showed that there was a significant effect of 5% olive oil on the amount of collagen with a significance of 0.000 (0<0.05).The results between the control group and the treatment had significant differences on 3th and 5th days.Conclusion: The conclusion is that there is an effect of giving 5% olive oil cream on the amount of collagen in the healing process of wistar incision lips

    Comprehensive Analysis of Oral Health-Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) in Periodontitis Patients: Evaluating the Impact of Non-Surgical and Surgical Periodontal Therapy

    Introduction: Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory condition that affects the supporting structures of the teeth. Due to its often asymptomatic progression in early stages, timely diagnosis is frequently challenging.Objective: This study aimed to assess the impact of non-surgical and surgical periodontal treatments on the Oral Health-Related Quality of Life (OHRQoL) among individuals diagnosed with periodontitis.Methods: An observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design was conducted using a pre-test and post-test group approach. The study involved 100 patients aged 18–60 years who met predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria and underwent periodontal therapy either non-surgical or surgical at Sultan Agung Islamic Dental and Oral Hospital (RSIGM) between August and December 2024. The OHIP-14sp questionnaire was used to measure OHRQoL across seven domains using a Likert scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-tests to evaluate differences between pre- and post-treatment scores.Results: A marked reduction in OHIP-14sp scores was observed across all domains following treatment. The most pronounced improvements occurred in the domains of social disability (−46.2%) and functional limitation (−45.1%). Overall, the total OHIP-14sp score improved by 43.9%. All domains exhibited statistically significant differences between baseline and follow-up scores (p < 0.001). Conclusion: The findings indicated that both non-surgical and surgical periodontal therapies contributed significantly to enhancing patients’ quality of life by alleviating physical discomfort and improving psychological and social well-being

    Development and Analysis of a Web-Based Management Information System for Dental Practices to Improve Healthcare Services

    Introduction: A website-based management information system is needed in dental practices as a public service center that is required to work quickly, precisely, and accurately. The performance of dental practices becomes more optimal with a computerized management information system. Objectives: This study aimed to develop and analyze a web-based management information system for dental practices to improve healthcare services in Indonesia. Methods: This is an action research design conducted at an independent dental practice in Kudus, Indonesia. The research utilized the waterfall method, which started with requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and deployment, as well as maintenance. The analysis was carried out using two methods: Black-Box Testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT). The UAT percentage results were categorized into 5 sections: 0%-20% very unsatisfied, 21%-40% unsatisfied, 41%-60% neutral, 61%-80% satisfied, and 81%-100% very satisfied. Results: Testing used the Black-Box Testing method on 17 menus, with results meeting the expected specifications and no errors detected during the testing. The User Acceptance Testing (UAT) indicated a 96% approval rate, which signified an excellent rating in users\u27 assessment of the developed system. Conclusions: Based on the results of the study, a web-based electronic dental practice management information system was proposed to meet the needs of dentists
