Structural Performance-Based Design Optimisation of a Secondary Mirror for a Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) Plant
Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) plants use mirrors to reflect and concentrate sunlight onto a receiver, to heat a fluid and store thermal energy, at high temperature and energy density, to produce dispatchable heat and/or electricity. The secondary mirror is a critical component in the optical system of certain Solar Power Tower plants (SPT), as it redirects the concentrated sunlight from the primary mirror onto the receiver, which can be arranged at ground level. In this study, we propose a design optimisation for the secondary mirror of a CSP plant. The design optimisation method consists of two steps. The first step involves the use of the finite element simulation software Abaqus 2022 to analyse the structural performance of the secondary mirror under thermal loads and wind. The second step consists of the use of simulation results to identify the combination of design parameters and best performances, with respect to both design constraints and structural safety. This is carried out by developing an algorithm that selects those configurations which satisfy the constraints by using safety coefficients. The proposed optimisation method is applied to the design of a potential configuration of a secondary mirror for the beam-down of the CSP Magaldi STEM® technology, although the methodology can be extended to other components of CSP plants, such as primary mirrors and receivers, to further enhance the structural performance of these systems
Lengua y derechos lingüísticos en Arán: régimen jurídico de la oficialidad del aranés
This work deals with the legal framework of the official status of Aranese language within the territory of Aran and in the rest of Catalonia. For that purpose, the author explains, firstly, which has been the path followed until the full recognition of the said language as an official language, which took place with the adoption of the Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia in 2006. Secondly, the author analyses how the ordinary Catalan legislator has developed the statutory provisions regarding the official status of the Aranese language. In that regard, it has made a clear distinction between the effects of such declaration in the territory of Aran and in the rest of Catalonia, but outside Aran. Finally, the paper also deals with the preferential use of Aranese language, established in the Catalan Law on Aranese language, and questions its conformity with the Spanish Constitution.El presente estudio analiza de forma sistemática y detallada el régimen jurídico de la oficialidad del aranés en Arán y en la Comunidad Autónoma de Cataluña. Para ello, expone, en primer lugar, cuál ha sido la evolución normativa hasta llegar a la declaración de oficialidad en el Estatuto Autónomo de Cataluña de 2006. Seguidamente, se estudia cómo se ha desarrollado este mandato estatutario de oficialidad del aranés, tanto en el ámbito territorial de Arán como en el resto del territorio de Cataluña. Fluidized Bed Torrefaction of Agro-Industrial Residues: the Case Study of Residues from Campania Region, Italy
2014 - 2015The purpose of this Ph.D. project was to investigate the potential of the torrefaction treatment for upgrading low-value agro-industrial residues into useable solid fuels to be employed as high-quality energy carriers.
The first phase of the project involved a screening of the agro-industrial residues available in Campania region (Italy) with good potentiality for energy applications. As a result of this analysis, tomato processing residues and olive mill residues, which have stood out as those in need of a more sustainable and environmental friendly disposal solution, were at first selected as biomass feedstocks for this Ph.D. project. However, practical difficulties encountered in the pre-treatment of the virgin olive husk (i.e., specifically in reducing the size of olives stone fragments which compose olive mill residues together with the olive pulp) led afterwards to discard such residue as a potential feedstock for the subsequent lab-scale torrefaction tests... Rupi Kaur: Women’s Writing Tradition in Translation
This paper will present a brief background of the author, Rupi Kaur, and her artistic work, focusing in her poetry. The book approached is Honey and Milk, and it will be analysed though the feminist criticism theory of Elaine Showalter in order to discuss the poetry of Kaur in the context of the third phase of women’s writing. To achieve that, this paper will discuss some selected poetry and some details about the translation of the book to the Portuguese Brazilian language and the rewriting entailed in the process of translation
A relação entre as TICs e a cibermuseologia : o estudo de caso da Exposição Leonardo Da Vinci - 500 anos de um gênio
Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso (graduação) — Universidade de Brasília, Faculdade de Ciência da Informação, 2021.O desenvolvimento científico e tecnológico, das últimas décadas, marcou um período de
transformações nas instituições museológicas e suas práticas. Novas possibilidades de acesso
à informação são apresentadas à sociedade, através de processo de virtualização dos museus e
dos acervos. O uso de instrumentos e suas possibilidades de ação modificaram a relação do
sujeito/objeto, com a promoção de experiências interativas e ambientes imersivos. E
atualmente, as Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação - TICs e a Cibermuseologia, sendo
essa última voltada ao campo da Museologia, têm apontado para reflexões contemporâneas
sobre essas transformações que requerem estudos teóricos e práticos sobre os processos e as
atividades museológicas. A partir dessas ponderações, a presente pesquisa objetivou analisar a
relação entre as Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação (TICs) e a Cibermuseologia, a
partir do estudo de caso da Exposição Leonardo Da Vinci - 500 anos de um Gênio. A
investigação analisou a aplicação das TICs no espaço museal, como foram construídas as
experiências interativas e imersivas; e o impacto sobre os interatores. Buscou-se, então,
identificar quais as práticas e teorias que foram aplicadas na exposição escolhida como estudo
de caso. A proposta metodológica é definida como descritiva, e teve como fundamento o
levantamento bibliográfico e conceitual. A pesquisa de campo se baseou no método
quantitativo e qualitativo, a partir do estudo de caso. Em que, foram coletadas informações
que permitiram relacionar conceitos como TICs ao processo de aplicação das mesmas na
Exposição imersiva Leonardo Da Vinci - 500 anos de um Gênio. Nesse estudo foram
aplicados questionários, entrevistas, além da leitura de documentos expográficos, com a
finalidade de contextualizar a presença das TICs nos museus contemporâneos. Concluiu-se
que o MIS Experience é um exemplo das novas tendências que surgiram nas últimas décadas
nos ambientes museológicos brasileiros, que permitiram a inserção de profissionais
multimídias, modificando a relação do público com os objetos da exposição. Identificamos os
elementos expográficos da mostra e os recursos aplicados que estimularam outros sentidos,
além do visual tornando o interator um coautor. Observamos que a mostra em seus núcelos
fez uso tanto do formato convencional expositivo, quanto de dispositivos tecnológicos como a
Câmera Multiespectral e o sistema SENSORY4™. E foram essas características que o
trabalho buscou compreender, através do estudo de aspectos da musealização, virtualidade e
comunicação museológica desta subárea da Museologia que denominamos de
Cibermuseologia.The scientific and technological development in recent decades has marked a period of
transformation in museum institutions and their practices. New possibilities for accessing
information are presented to society through the virtualization process of museums and
collections. The use of instruments and their possibilities for action changed the subject/object
relationship, promoting interactive experiences and immersive environments. And currently,
Information and Communication Technologies - ICTs and Cybermuseology, the latter being
focused on the field of Museology, have pointed to contemporary reflections on these
transformations that require theoretical and practical studies on museological processes and
activities. Based on these considerations, this research aimed to analyze the relationship
between Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and Cybermuseology, based
on the case study of the Leonardo Da Vinci Exhibition - 500 Years of a Genius. The
investigation analyzed the application of ICTs in the museum space, how interactive and
immersive experiences were constructed; and the impact on interactors. We sought, then, to
identify which practices and theories were applied in the exhibition chosen as a case study.
The methodological proposal is defined as descriptive, and was based on a bibliographic and
conceptual survey. The field research was based on the quantitative and qualitative method,
based on the case study. In which, information was collected that allowed relating concepts
such as ICTs to the process of applying them in the immersive exhibition Leonardo Da Vinci
- 500 Years of a Genius. In this study, questionnaires, interviews were applied, in addition to
the reading of expographic documents, in order to contextualize the presence of ICTs in
contemporary museums. It was concluded that MIS Experience is an example of the new
trends that have emerged in recent decades in Brazilian museum environments, which allowed
the insertion of multimedia professionals, modifying the relationship between the public and
the objects in the exhibition. We identified the exhibition's expographic elements and the
applied resources that stimulated other senses, in addition to the visual, making the interactor
a co-author. We observed that the exhibition in its cores made use of both the conventional
expository format, as well as technological devices such as the Multispectral Camera and the
SENSORY4™ system. And it was these characteristics that the work sought to understand,
through the study of aspects of musealization, virtuality and museological communication in
this sub-area of museology that we call Cybermuseology
O caso do vestido: : apontamentos sobre a construção de um cânone em Panorama do teatro brasileiro
The present text analyzes the book Panorama do teatro brasileiro (Panorama of the Brazilian theater, freely translated, 1997 [1962]), by Sábato Magaldi, considered one of the "founding fathers" of our theatrical historiography. This work became a canon of theatrical historical studies and a fundamental guide in classes of graduate and postgraduate courses in theatre and performing arts. Starting from the studies on Nelson Rodrigues’ Vestido de Noiva (Bride Dress) staging by Os Comediantes (The comedians) company in 1943, even though initially, it seeks to understand the strength games in the intellectual and artistic fields which this author worked, the strategic alliances signed, the occupied position and the disputes that led to the construction and consecration of this narrative.El texto actual analiza el libro Panorama do teatro brasileiro (Panorama del teatro brasileño, traducido libremente, 1997 [1962]), por Sábato Magaldi, considerado uno de los "padres fundadores" de nuestra historiografía teatral. Este trabajo se convirtió en un canon de estudios históricos teatrales y una guía fundamental en las clases de posgrado y posgrado en teatro y artes escénicas. The political cartoons of the Spanish transition as a pedagogical tool in the teaching of History
La transición democrática española es un período clave de nuestra historia reciente. Su aprendizaje es fundamental para la formación histórica y ciudadana de nuestro alumnado. Para su explicación, se ha desarrollado un trabajo a través de caricaturas procedentes de revistas políticas de la época, demostrando su valor como herramienta pedagógica al representar de forma visual sucesos del pasado, apoyar su mensaje en el humor y recoger el sentir y las emociones de una época. Para trabajar con estas caricaturas, se ha explicado el contexto histórico para, a continuación, poner a disposición del alumnado diferentes caricaturas políticas en las que han debido de responder a una serie de preguntas: ¿qué personajes aparecen?, ¿qué suceso representa?, ¿cómo es representada la realidad?, ¿dónde apareció publicada?, ¿quién es el autor?, ¿tiene algún componente ideológico?...A través de esta actividad, se consiguen varios objetivos: una mejor comprensión del período histórico a través de los elementos visuales, un acercamiento al sentir de esa época mediante piezas humorísticas, un conocimiento de elementos culturales del pasado de forma directa, la dinamización del proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje y una motivación, interés y compromiso del estudiante con su trabajo y proceso de (auto)aprendizaje. En definitiva, el recurso a las caricaturas políticas de la época de la Transición se muestra como una útil herramienta pedagógica para conocer la realidad histórica de dicho período.The Spanish democratic transition is a key period in our recent history. Its learning is fundamental for the historical and civic education of our students. For its explanation, a work has been developed through cartoons from political magazines of the time, demonstrating its value as a pedagogical tool by visually representing events from the past, supporting its message with humor and collecting the feelings and emotions of a time. To work with these cartoons, the historical context has been explained to then make available to the students different political cartoons in which they had to answer a series of questions: which characters appear?, what event does it represent?, how is reality represented?, where was it published?, who is the author?, does it have any ideological component?... Through this activity, several objectives are achieved: a better understanding of the historical period through visual elements, an approach to the feeling of that past era through humorous pieces, a knowledge of cultural elements of
the past directly, the dynamization of the teaching-learning process and the student’s motivation, interest and commitment to their work and (self)learning process. This present study focuses on the analysis of the work After, both in its original version (Todd, 2013) and in its film adaptation (Prime Video, 2019). The book was written by Anna Todd in 2013 and later adapted after achieving great success on the publishing platform Wattpad. However, following the release of the film, numerous criticisms about the adaptation emerged. Based on these elements and the reception of the narratives, the general objective of the research was defined as a comparative analysis of the scenes and the characters from the original book and their transfer to the cinema, aiming to understand why the adaptation of a book that was so well-received is considered a failure by the reading audience. For this analysis, the qualitative methodology (Yin, 2016) was used, and the selected scenes were chosen based on an interview with the author on a website in which she mentioned the most popular scenes. As a theoretical framework, we used the adaptation theory formulated by Linda Hutcheon (2011) and the six questions proposed by the author, as well as concepts of narrative structure (Mckee, 2013; Field, 1995 [1982]; Zwier, 2012; Assis Brasil, 2019; Hutcheon, 2011). The data obtained generally reveal various flaws in the narrative structure of the adaptation, such as the omission of conflicts and scenes, and significant changes in the characters' personalities. According to the data collected, these changes, for the most part, leds to the film's unpopularity and criticism from fans of the original work on social media. However, there were also successful cases.O presente estudo possui como objeto de análise a obra After, tanto em sua versão original (Todd, 2013) quanto em sua adaptação cinematográfica (Prime Video, 2019). O livro foi escrito por Anna Todd em 2013 e adaptado, posteriormente, ao obter grande sucesso na plataforma de publicação Wattpad, contudo, após o lançamento do longa, foi possível notar diversas críticas sobre a adaptação. Partindo desses objetos e da recepção das narrativas, definiu-se, como objetivo geral da pesquisa, analisar comparativamente as cenas e os personagens do livro original e de sua transferência para o cinema com intuito de entender o motivo pelo qual a adaptação de um livro que foi tão bem recepcionado é considerada um fracasso pelo público leitor. Para essa análise, foi utilizada a metodologia qualitativa (Yin, 2016) e as cenas selecionadas foram escolhidas com base em uma entrevista da autora para um website, na qual ela citou as cenas mais populares. Como aporte teórico, utilizamos a teoria da adaptação formulada por Linda Hutcheon (2011) e as seis perguntas propostas pela autora, assim como os conceitos de estrutura narrativa (Mckee, 2013; Field, 1995 [1982]; Zwier, 2012; Assis Brasil, 2019; Hutcheon, 2011). Os dados obtidos mostram, de forma geral, diversas falhas na estrutura narrativa da adaptação, tais como apagamento de conflitos e cenas, e mudanças significativas na personalidade dos personagens. De acordo com o levantamento de dados, tais alterações, em sua maioria, geraram impopularidade para o longa e críticas dos fãs da obra original nas redes sociais, embora alguns aspectos da adaptação tenham sido bem-sucedidos.
OS (DES)CAMINHOS DA SUBALTERNIDADE E DA VIOLÊNCIA NA LITERATURA BRASILEIRA CONTEMPORÂNEA: O (NÃO) LUGAR DE "QUERÔ, UMA REPORTAGEM MALDITA", DE PLÍNIO MARCOS: THE (DIS)ROADS OF SUBALTERNITY AND VIOLENCE IN CONTEMPORARY BRAZILIAN LITERATURE: THE (NON) PLACE OF QUERÔ, QUERÔ, UMA REPORTAGEM MALDITA, BY PLÍNIO MARCOS
The aim of this reflection is to analyze the novel Querô, uma reportagem maldita (1977), by contemporary author Plínio Marcos. We draw on the theoretical assumptions of Carlos Pinto (2000), John Beverley (2004), Gayatri Spivak (2010), Benedicto Silva and Antonio Garcia de Miranda Netto (1986), Luiz Pereira (1978) on the notion of subalternity and social marginality, as well as the contributions of Émile Zola (1982), Renata Pallottini (1989), Anatol Rosenfeld (1993), Jean-Pierre Ryngaert (1996), Sábato Magaldi (2003), Antoine Compagnon (2003), Émile Zola (1982) in relation to the aspects that circumscribe the ways of structuring dramatic and narrative discourse. Also noteworthy are the studies by Hannah Arendt (2010), Ronaldo Lima Lins (1990) and Jaime Ginzburg (2012) regarding the manifestation of the sign of violence in Brazilian Literature. Writer of dramas, short stories and novels, the outsider Plínio Marcos sought to transform “real characters” into fictional characters, bringing a “fictional reality” to the reader/spectator, pondering the role of the marginalized and the subaltern in the constitution of society, highlighting, in his own way, the contradictions of the human being, as well as those of his own existence. In the work, society is represented through conflicting situations, which are (im)posed by the economic and cultural order in the context of the post-1964 brazilian military dictatorship.
O objetivo desta reflexão é analisar o romance Querô, uma reportagem maldita (1977), do autor contemporâneo Plínio Marcos. Valemo-nos dos pressupostos teóricos de Carlos Pinto (2000), John Beverley (2004), Gayatri Spivak (2010), Benedicto Silva e Antonio Garcia de Miranda Netto (1986), Luiz Pereira (1978) acerca da noção de subalternidade e marginalidade social, além de trazer à baila as contribuições de Émile Zola (1982), Renata Pallottini (1989), Anatol Rosenfeld (1993), Jean-Pierre Ryngaert (1996), Sábato Magaldi (2003), Antoine Compagnon (2003), Émile Zola (1982) no que se referem aos aspectos que circunscrevem os modos de estruturação do discurso dramático e narrativo. Destacam-se, também, os estudos de Hannah Arendt (2010), Ronaldo Lima Lins (1990) e Jaime Ginzburg (2012) no que tange à manifestação do signo da violência na Literatura Brasileira. Escritor de dramas, contos e romances, o outsider Plínio Marcos procurou transformar “personagens reais” em personagens de ficção, trazendo para o(a) leitor(a)/espectador(a) uma “realidade ficcional”, ponderando sobre o papel dos marginais e dos subalternos na constituição da sociedade; evidenciando, a seu modo, as contradições do ser humano, bem como as de sua própria existência. Na obra, a sociedade é representada por meio de situações conflituosas, as quais são (im)postas pela ordem econômica e cultural no contexto da ditadura militar brasileira pós-1964
