    Organ jazz

    No full text
The Hammond Organ jazz scene was prominent in African-American communities from the early 1950s through the 1980s, approximately 75% of the jazz venues in these communities were organ rooms. There is a distinct history of this brand of music, but it omitted from jazz history books and libraries, and jazz performance programs. This thesis examines the unique characteristics and traces the history of this music, but also probes the reason for its exclusion inboth the performance and musicological branches of academia. Finally, this thesis suggests ways to rectify this situation, including a new theoretical approach to analyzing this music called jazz.M.A.Includes bibliographical referencesIncludes vitaby Radam Schwart

Projeto Radam: (Re)Descobrindo o Projeto de Sensoriamento Remoto Aplicado ao Mapeamento da Amazônia / Radam Project: (Re)Discovering the Remote Sensoring Project Applied to the Mapping of the Amazon

The first significant effort stemming from a survey performed within the Brazilian territory occurred in the middle of the military government and became known as the RADAM Project. Despite the project’s notoriety, relevance and broad-ranging, it has been scarcely discussed and researched by the academy. Thus, it is highlighted the importance of studies that contribute to the debate on the Brazilian territory, especially the Amazon. Moreover, the main objective of this work is an attempt of historical reconstruction of what the RADAM Project was, translated by experience reports and searches to primary sources. It is hoped that this research contribute to filling a gap found in the literature so far produced about the RADAM Project, while in which it was possible to describe the project, presenting its operation, report the unpublished episodes and check the scope of the project. Keywords: RADAM. Risk-Adaptive Authorization Mechanism (RAdAM) for Cloud Computing

video/mp4Cloud computing provides many advantages for both the cloud service provider and the clients. It is also infamous for being highly dynamic and for having numerous security issues. The dynamicity of cloud computing implies that dynamic security mechanisms are being employed to enforce its security, especially in regards to access decisions. However, this is surprisingly not the case. Static traditional authorization mechanisms are being used in cloud environments, leading to legitimate doubts on their ability to fulfill the security needs of the cloud. I propose a Risk-Adaptive Authorization Mechnanism (RAdAM) for a simple cloud deployment, collaboration in cloud computing and federation in cloud computing. I use a fuzzy inference system to demonstrate the practicability of RAdAM. I complement RAdAM with a Vulnerability Based Authorization Mechanism (VBAM) which is a real-time authorization model based on the average vulnerability scores of the objects present in the cloud. Finally, i demonstrate the usefulness of VBAM in a case featuring OpenStack.講演者所属: 奈良先端科学技術大学院大学情報科学研究科講演日: 平成28年4月18日講演場所: 情報科学研究科大講義室L1vide

RAdam-DA-NLSTM: A Nested LSTM-Based Time Series Prediction Method for Human–Computer Intelligent Systems

    No full text
At present, time series prediction methods are widely applied for Human–Computer Intelligent Systems in various fields such as Finance, Meteorology, and Medicine. To enhance the accuracy and stability of the prediction model, this paper proposes a time series prediction method called RAdam-Dual stage Attention mechanism-Nested Long Short-Term Memory (RAdam-DA-NLSTM). First, we design a Nested LSTM (NLSTM), which adopts a new internal LSTM unit structure as the memory cell of LSTM to guide memory forgetting and memory selection. Then, we design a self-encoder network based on the Dual stage Attention mechanism (DA-NLSTM), which uses the NLSTM encoder based on the input attention mechanism, and uses the NLSTM decoder based on the time attention mechanism. Additionally, we adopt the RAdam optimizer to solve the objective function, which dynamically selects Adam and SGD optimizers according to the variance dispersion and constructs the rectifier term to fully express the adaptive momentum. Finally, we use multiple datasets, such as PM2.5 data set, stock data set, traffic data set, and biological signals, to analyze and test this method, and the experimental results show that RAdam-DA-NLSTM has higher prediction accuracy and stability compared with other traditional methods

The clouds against progress: technoscience, environment and the U.S./Brazil “Radar in Amazon Project” (RADAM) (1970-1975)

The objective of this investigation is to contribute to a deeper understanding of the RADAM Project activities during the Brazilian civil-military regime (1964 -1985). The RADAM was a technoscientific project, created at the federal level in 1970, which intended to map Brazil’s Northeastern and Amazon territories and thus produce systematic knowledge about their natural resources, a process considered crucial for the federal government’s development plans. By analyzing original documents, we attempt to comprehend the role of the project in the authoritarian development policy set forth by the military government. We intend to demonstrate the juridical and institutional reforms that made the implementation of the project possible and then analyze how the RADAM project was effectively organized and its direct and indirect objectives. Lastly, we look into how the work of the technical agents and scientists in the social scenario of the Brazilian dictatorship.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    No full text
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
