Streszczenie: Artykuł omawia przemiany polityczne w Europie w latach 1989-1991. Do analizy wybrane zostały trzy kraje: byłe ZSRR, Polska oraz Niemcy. Wskazano najważniejsze wydarzenia polityczne, które umożliwiły demokratyzację tego obszaru. Omówiony zostały także wpływ tych przemian na możliwości integracji europejskiej.
Abstract: The article discusses the political changes in Europe in the years 1985-1991. Three countries: the former Soviet Union, Poland and Germany were selected to the analysis. There were pointed the main political events that enabled to the democratization process of the area. Also the impact of these changes on the European integration was discussed.

Streszczenie: Celem niniejszego artykułu jest przedstawienie oceny zmian w transporcie kolejowym pasażerskim na liniach normalnotorowych w województwie wielkopolskim. Do analizy zagadnienia wykorzystano badania ankietowe przeprowadzone na 8 stacjach kolejowych regionu (Poznań Główny, Kalisz, Konin, Piła Główna, Gniezno, Leszno, Wągrowiec i Krzyż Wielkopolski). Respondenci wyrażali opinię na temat funkcjonowania transportu kolejowego, powiązania z innymi gałęziami transportu oraz wpływu na gospodarkę regionalną. W artykule przedstawione zostały również uwarunkowania historyczne przemian sieci kolejowej województwa.
Abstract: This article aims at presenting an assessment of the changes in rail passenger transport in the region Wielkopolska. For analysis of the issue there were used surveys conducted on 8 railway stations in the region (Poznań Główny, Kalisz, Konin, Piła, Gniezno, Leszno, Wągrowiec and Krzyż Wielkopolski). Respondents expressed an opinion on the functioning of railway transport, connections with other types of transport and the impact on the regional economy. The article presents the historical conditions of change of the railway network of the region.

Streszczenie: Niniejsze opracowanie związane jest z międzynarodową imprezą sportową, jaką były Mistrzostwa Europy w piłce nożnej, organizowane przez Polskę i Ukrainę w 2012 roku. Artykuł omawia stanu infrastruktury transportowej w Polsce oraz wielkości bazy noclegowej w miastach gospodarzach Mistrzostw Europy w piłce nożnej Euro 2012. Zakres pracy obejmuje jednak wyłącznie polską część Mistrzostw. Wskazano poziom realizacji przygotowań Polski do organizacji turnieju. Przestawiono też m.in. liczby udzielonych noclegów w 2012 r. w czterech miastach gospodarzach mistrzostw oraz dane statystyczne z działalności lotnisk w czasie turnieju.
Abstract: This study is associated with an international sporting event, which was UEFA European Football Championship, organized by Poland and Ukraine in 2012. The article discusses the state of transport infrastructure in Poland and the size of accommodation in the cities - hosts of the UEFA European Football Championship Euro 2012. The scope of work includes but only the Polish part of the Championship. Indicated the level of implementation of Polish preparations to host the tournament. The section also includes among other things, the number of overnight stays in2012 in four cities as well as statistical data on the activities of the airports in the tournament.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. STRESZCZENIE
Ujściowy odcinek Brdy stanowi kluczowy fragment Międzynarodowej Drogi Wodnej E-70. Łączy on rzekę Wisłę z Kanałem Bydgoskim, stanowiącym przedłużenie szlaku wodnego w kierunku dorzecza Odry. W artykule scharakteryzowano stan infrastruktury wodnej pod kątem istniejących przeszkód nawigacyjnych, warunków głębokościowych oraz zagospodarowania turystycznego. Odniesiono się ponadto do obowiązujących przepisów krajowych dla śródlądowych dróg wodnych. Umożliwiło to ocenę bezpieczeństwa analizowanej części rzeki Brdy do prowadzenia żeglugi.
ABSTRACT
The mouth of the Brda River is a key part of the International Waterway E-70. It connect the Vistula River with the Bydgoszcz Canal, which is an extension of the waterway in the direction of the Odra River Basin. The research characterized the state of the water infrastructure in terms of existing barriers of navigation, depth conditions and tourist development. Furthermore makes reference to the applicable national regulations for inland waterways. This allowed to prepare safety assessment of the analysed part of the Brda River for inland shipping.

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Get PDFWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
