Carlo Curcio, Rodolfo De Mattei: parallel and converging lives. Carlo Curcio and Rodolfo De Mattei are rightly part of the so called "season of the masters". Both of them, were not only lecturers in the History of Political Doctrines and carried out an intense publicity activity, but they greatly contributed to the debate on the methodology and nature of this discipline. Animated by civil passion, they have devoted their lives as scholars to researching those ethical principles that are at the basis of politics, constitute its soul and survive beyond the contingencies of an (THEIR) era

    No full text
Rodolfo De Mattei, always faithful to his method of study and research, allows us to know a Savonarola free from “ties” of clichés, against all those who have used a myriad of epithets for the Dominican friar over the centuries. In his writings De Mattei highlights the friar’s quality of political thinker and his moral lesson. He also believes that it is necessary to frame the figure of Savonarola in Florence or better in the Italian society of the fifteenth century

Pairs of foliations and Mattei-Moussu's Theorem

International audienceWe prove a reduction of singularities for pairs of foliations by blowing-up, and then investigate the analytic classification of the reduced models. Those reduced pairs of regular foliations are well understood. The case of a regular and a singular foliation is dealt with Mattei-Moussu's Theorem for which we provide a new proof, avoiding Gronwall's inequality. We end-up announcing results recently obtained by the first author in the case of a pair of reduced foliations sharing the same separatrices

Mattei Dogan : An analysis of covariance in electoral sociology. The purpose of this analysis of covariance is to analyse the influence of the social situation on the vote, while neutralizing the effect of the religious factor. The importance of the religious factor was emphasized by the author in a previous study of 2,477 cantons. In this new analysis, the role of the working class in the determination of the communist and socialist vote, becomes more apparent. Three graphics illustrate this « awakening » of social class. Given equal religious attitudes, variations in the vote between different levels of workers is accentuated. With the introduction of the « region » as a variable, the analysis of covariance takes on its full significance. The regional context is certainly determined by religion, but it is not limited to this factor alone.

The end of his long journey of study and research, Piaget rethinks the relationship between science and philosophy, particularly that genetic epistemology which formed the core of his psychological research. Here we want to reconstruct the various steps in the field: starting from the initial observation and experimental research, up to the relationship between the natural sciences and applied sciences of the spirit in his own research. While strongly criticizing the methodological limitations of philosophical inquiry, the author does not seem that Piaget has definitely never been away from the core of philosophical research heuristic, a nucleus is always rich with meaning and significance matrix of questions and always searching for the interrogation psychological

Something new near the Sun: Nicolás Machiavelli and the plebeian republicanism of the frontier

    No full text
In recent years, a number of theorists from Latin America and the Caribbean have undertaken the exploration and conceptualization of plebeian, popular, or democratic republicanism. Despite the diverse range of approaches and perspectives, which encompass disciplines such as philosophy, political theory, and history, these scholarly endeavors share a common denominator: the presence of Nicolás Machiavelli. In fact, the corpus of the Italian author is like the Sun around which all these discussions gravitate: some texts, like the planet Mercury, are closer to the Sun, while others, like Neptune, are farther away. The aim of this article is to revisit Machiavelli's solar aspect, particularly in his Discourses on the First Decade of Titus Livius, and History of Florence, in order to map two areas of his surface that have been explored by previous readings. These areas are: I) the configuration of the notion of republic based on the presence of humors, and II) the Ciompi revolt, to examine the link with leaders and elucidate the encrypted presence of America.Fil: Mattei, Eugenia.
