An Estimate of the Chemical and Radiative Perturbation of Stratospheric Ozone Following the Eruption of Mt. Pinatubo
Lidar observations of mesospheric sodium over Italy
We have developed a lidar system for the measurements of the mesospheric atomic sodium (Na) number density profile. The performances and the main characteristics of the system are evaluated showing the first observations: Na number density profiles can be obtained with a resolution of 300 m in altitude and of 200 s in time, the relative uncertainty is between 5% and 10%. These features also allow to discuss the capability of the system to detect the time and space Variability of Na density profiles, which is typical of the gravity wave propagation. The preliminary analysis of the sodium profile dynamics along a 7 hours measurement session, started from 19:30UT on 10 April 1997, shows the presence of wave-like perturbations with characteristics typical of propagating gravity waves
Caratterizzazione di Polar Stratospheric Clouds (PSC) Antartiche tramite osservazioni lidar ground-based e confronto con osservazioni lidar satellitari e output di modelli climatici accoppiati a modelli di chimica (CCM)
Una corretta valutazione della variazione sul lungo periodo dell'ozono stratosferico attraverso i modelli di clima (CCM) richiede una accurata validazione di questi ultimi. Per questo scopo è necessario avere a disposizione database di climatologie osservazionali in grado di caratterizzare appieno il processo. Le Polar Stratospheric Clouds (PSC) rappresentano uno dei fattori chiave nel fenomeno del buco dell'ozono. Sono state analizzate diverse climatologie di PSC ottenute tramite tecnica lidar da stazione a terra, nelle basi antartiche di McMurdo e Dome Concordia, e dal satellite CALIPSO. Tali climatologie sono state confrontate con gli output dei CCM, utilizzando delle diagnostiche di validazione che permettono di analizzare i parametri caratteristici delle PSC

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Evaluation of sustainable building design and its associated management tools in design offices : case of Iran
As the importance of sustainable development gained momentum, the extent to which it should be implemented remained a matter of concern. Among all, buildings are among the remarkable results of human activities that have a substantial impact on the environment, from construction to demolition. On the other hand, sustainable buildings provide ways to reduce the harshness of buildings’ impacts on the environment and help to promote a sustainable way of living and to achieve sustainable development targets. The fact that in each region, “Sustainable Development” needs to follow regional conditions led this research to choose a case study (Iran) to evaluate Sustainable Building Design (SBD). The thesis aims to study the Iranian design firms who have showed their will to follow SBD guidelines and to analyze the drivers justifying their interests. Regarding the aim of the research, the following questions raised: i) To what extent have SBD and its associated management techniques and tools implemented in building design firms? ii) What are the barriers and success factors in implementing sustainable building design management and its associated tools? iii) What are the influencing factors for implementing SBD? iv) How much acceptance, readiness, and willingness exist among the firms regarding Sustainable Building Design Management (SBDM) and its associated tools? v) To what extent are the issues mentioned above implemented in the case of Iran? Understanding sustainable development would help to make decisions to improve the procedure for implementing sustainability in building design. It would also suggest a way to mitigate and eliminate problems and obstacles in adopting sustainable principles through management techniques. In the thesis, first, a literature review is conducted. Secondly, a survey was built on the inspiration of the literature review. Following the survey formation, interviews conducted at thirteen sustainable building design firms in Tehran, Iran’s capital. Finally, the results showed that there were insufficiencies in the education and regulation system regarding SBD in Iran. In addition, barriers and obstacles to implementing SBD, SBD Management (SBDM), and SBD Management Tools (SBDMT) were revealed from the perspective of participating firms. The training and acceptance of SBD, SBDM, and SBDMT were evaluated among firms. Finally, the recommendations were based on literature and survey results.Günümüzde sürdürülebilir kalkınmanın önemi gittikçe artmakta, uygulanma boyutu da bu oranda daha dikkate değer hale gelmektedir. İnsan faaliyetleri içinde binalar, yapımdan yıkıma dek çevreye etkisi en yüksek faaliyetler içindedir. Öte yandan, sürdürülebilir binalar, binaların çevre üzerindeki etkilerini azaltmak ve sürdürülebilir bir yaşam biçimini teşvik etmek ve sürdürülebilir kalkınma hedeflerine ulaşmak için yollar sunmaktadır. “Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma”nın bölgesel koşulları izlemesi gerektiği gerçeği ile bu araştırmada, Sürdürülebilir Bina Tasarımını (SBT) değerlendirmek için vaka olarak İran seçilmiştir. Tez, İranlı yapı tasarım firmaları özelinde SBT uygulamalarını, bu konuda isteklerini ve uygulamada karşılaşılan engellerin analizini amaçlamaktadır. Araştırmanın soruları aşağıdaki şekilde belirlenmiştir: i) SBT ve bununla ilişkili yönetim teknik ve araçları bina tasarım firmalarında ne ölçüde uygulanmıştır? ii) Sürdürülebilir Bina Tasarım Yönetimi ve bununla ilişkili araçların uygulanmasında engeller ve başarı nedenleri nelerdir? iii) SBT'nın uygulanmasına etki eden faktörler nelerdir? iv) Firmalar arasında Sürdürülebilir Bina Tasarım Yönetimi (SBTY) ve ilgili araçları konusunda ne kadar kabul, hazır olma ve isteklilik bulunmaktadır? v) Yukarıda belirtilen hususlar İran örneğinde ne ölçüde uygulanmaktadır? Sürdürülebilir kalkınmanın anlaşılmasının, bina tasarımında sürdürülebilirliğin uygulanmasına yönelik prosedürün iyileştirilmesinde ve sürdürülebilirlik ilkeleri benimseme konusundaki sorunları azaltmada yardımcı olacağı düşünülmektedir. Tezde, öncelikli olarak sürdürülebilirlik, sürdürülebilir bina tasarımı ve yönetimi konularında literatür taraması yapılmıştır. İkinci olarak, literatür taramasından esinlenerek bir görüşme formu hazırlanmış, bunu takiben, İran'ın başkenti Tahran'da on üç sürdürülebilir bina tasarım deneyimi olan firma ile görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Sonuçlar, İran'da SBT ile ilgili eğitim ve düzenleme sisteminde yetersizliklerin olduğunu göstermiştir. Ayrıca, SBT, SBT Yönetimi (SBTY) ve SBT Yönetim Araçları'nın (SBTYA) uygulanmasında karşılaşılan engeller katılımcı firmalar açısından ortaya çıkarılmıştır.
