De l'éthopoiesis à l'éthopolitique
In this essay, the author links the criticism by Foucault to the classical categories of political philosophy, counteropposing biopolitics and governmentality to sovereignty and political authority, meanwhile introduces the notion of ethopolitics in Foucault’s thought when the last understresses the aesthetics of existence as a way of life either ethical or political

Thermodynamics of memory erasure via a spin reservoir
Thermodynamics with multiple-conserved quantities offers a promising direction for designing novel devices. For example, Vaccaro and Barnett’s [J. A. Vaccaro and S. M. Barnett, Proc. R. Soc. A 467, 1770 (2011); S. M. Barnett and J. A. Vaccaro, Entropy 15, 4956 (2013)] proposed information erasure scheme, where the cost of erasure is solely in terms of a conserved quantity other than energy, allows for new kinds of heat engines. In recent work, we studied the discrete fluctuations and average bounds of the erasure cost in spin angular momentum. Here we clarify the costs in terms of the spin equivalent of work, called spinlabor, and the spin equivalent of heat, called spintherm. We show that the previously-found bound on the erasure cost of γ −1 ln 2 can be violated by the spinlabor cost, and only applies to the spintherm cost. We obtain three bounds for spinlabor for different erasure protocols and determine the one that provides the tightest bound. For completeness, we derive a generalized Jarzynski equality and probability of violation which shows that for particular protocols the probability of violation can be surprisingly large. We also derive an integral fluctuation theorem and use it to analyze the cost of information erasure using a spin reservoir.Full Tex

Multidisciplinary approach for the sustainable utilization of medium-low temperature geothermal resources
A growing interest in the applications of the medium-low temperature geothermal resources can be observed, but often a reference frame in this field does not exist. Different backgrounds are involved in the design and optimization of geothermal projects: Earth Sciences, Engineering, Economics, Environmental Impact. In the practice one aspect often tends to take priority on the others. In this work firstly the elements for a methodological interdisciplinary framework for geothermal projects analysis are given. A clear frame of the state of the art and possible technical-scientific developments are illustrated.
The necessity of an "integrated" interdisciplinary approach is underlined, with reference to several case studies. The geothermal potential evaluation tasks and methods are illustrated, and some outlines for an assessment oriented to the resource utilization are described. The sustainability of geothermal projects is analysed under different perspectives and criteria.
The main technological issues of geothermal binary cycle power plants are discussed (mainly for small power size), together with technological solutions. The concept of upper limit to the extraction rate is introduced, with reference to an equilibrium point between power production and resource depletion. Direct heat uses are also briefly described and the common issues related to environmental impact and resource durability are then discussed, with a particular focus on the scaling phenomena and the reinjection strategy. An innovative solution for geothermal power production (SBES) is described: the application of the heat pipe principle, in the CLTPT concept, for power production purposes is proposed.
The numerical simulation of geothermal reservoirs is an important instrument for the synthesis between the different backgrounds involved in the geothermal energy study. General aspects and its potentialities (historical data matching and forecast of future utilization scenarios) are illustrated. Several numerical models from scientific literature are reviewed (about 21 geothermal fields and related 24 numerical models). The reservoir models of Momotombo (Nicaragua) and Sabalan (Iran) have been realised from literature data and widely discussed. One original model, Monterotondo Marittimo - Torrente Milia (Italy) has been realised in a very multidisciplinary framework and it is also presented. Different utilization scenarios for the case studies are analysed and their sustainability level is discussed.
A purely economic approach is considered to be counter-productive for geothermal utilizations, so the thermoeconomic analysis is here applied to geothermal power plants. Momotombo case study and other small size power plants are analysed in order to estimate their thermoeconomic sustainability (exergy balances and cost items are evaluated). The current Italian geothermal energy market situation is briefly described, in relation to the ORC technology diffusion. The small size plants technological and environmental issues treated in this work are then linked to the current way of diffusion in the Italian market.
The outlines coming from the global work of analysis are organised in order to give the main features of the proposed methodological approach. The multidisciplinary perspective is reviewed and extended in order to optimize the sustainability of the projects (environmental impact reduction, resource durability)
The urban and environmental building code as implementation tool
The frame within which the work is placed refers to the actions necessary to achieve the objectives of the coverage of the consumption of energy from renewable sources compared to the gross final consumption, posed to Regions by 2020, and that can be implemented through various actions involving local gov-ernments including the revision of the Building Regulations municipalities in a sustainable view. Theseactions are increasingly being recognized as energy plan-ning tools for the territories where administrations have committed to the Euro-pean project Covenant of Mayors. The discussion shows how the adoption by the Regions of Guidelines for sustainable Municipal Building Regulations can be a practical tool for raising the energy performance of buildings and the achievement of common goals of sustainability at regional scale. The work also aims at showing a concrete example of the definition of guidelines for the revision of the municipal Building Regulations for cities within the Sicilian Region
Smart city: casi studio
Following passage through the oviduct, the coelomic envelope of Discoglossus pictus (Amphibia) acquires fertilizability upon reorganization, conversion of gp 42 to gp 40, extensive glycosylation and the formation of a specific layer
This paper describes the morphological and biochemical changes in Discoglossus pictus coelomic oocyte envelope (CE) following passage through the oviduct. As in other anurans, in this species, the transformation of the envelope into vitelline envelope (VE) leads to the acquisition of fertilizability and involves the cleavage of a glycoprotein. In addition, several features, typical of Discoglossus pictus, were observed. A new layer, VE-D, forms underneath the VE region facing the site of sperm entrance, the dimple. In the VE, arrowhead-like bundles of fibrils are perpendicularly oriented toward the dimple. Ultrastructural observations and staining with UEA-I suggested that VE-D might have a role in supporting sperm penetration into the dimple by orienting VE bundles and exposing sugar residues such as fucose. In 'in vitro' tests, VE binding of sperm occurs only if sperm are exposed to A23187, in agreement with previous data (Campanella et al., 1997: Mol Reprod Dev 47:323-333). Sperm binding occurs all over the VE. Accordingly, extracts of the VE covering the animal or the vegetal hemisphere have the same affinity to lectins (DBA, DSA, GNA, MAA, SBA, SNA, UEA-I, WGA). The CE contains six main glycoproteins. Peptide mapping indicated that during CE transformation into VE, gp 42 shifts to an apparent M(r) of 40 and gp 61 is converted to an apparent M(r) of 63 kDa. Lectin blot analyses showed extensive changes in cross-reactivity of most glycoproteins during the CE-->VE transition. The fact that DBA and UEA-I stain gp 63 rather than gp 61 and that this change is related only to gp 63, suggested that O-glycosylation and terminal fucose might be acquired by gp 63 in preparation of fertilization. Gp 63 has recently been cloned (Vaccaro et al., submitted) and shown to exhibit high homology to Xenopus gp 69/64, a VE sperm ligand (Tian et al., 1997a: J. Cell Biol. 136: 1099-1108; Tian et al., 1997b: Dev Biol 187:143-153), and to ZP2 of mammals
