Study on electron emission by a spherical object: dynamics of trapped particles
In this paper, the dynamics of electrons emitted by a spherical object when the total charge of the system is constant is studied in detail. In particular, the condition for which the total electron charge presents damped oscillations is deduced rigorously by considering a perturbation with respect to the steady-state solution. The results obtained can be of utility in simulating the expansion of a spherical plasma by separating the ion and electron time scales
A new critical exponent 'coppa' and its logarithmic counterpart 'hat coppa'
It is well known that standard hyperscaling breaks down above the upper critical dimension dc, where the critical exponents take on their Landau values. Here we show that this is because, in standard formulations in the thermodynamic limit, distance is measured on the correlation-length scale. However, the correlation-length scale and the underlying length scale of the system are not the same at or above the upper critical dimension. Above dc they are related algebraically through a new critical exponent coppa, while at dc they differ through logarithmic corrections governed by an exponent hat{coppa}. Taking proper account of these different length scales allows one to extend hyperscaling to all dimensions

Analysis of Electron Dynamics in Non-Ideal Penning Traps
In Penning traps that are used for particular applications, such as in ion pump
technology, Larmor, bouncing and diocotron frequencies can be of the same order of
magnitude. The paper deals with the dynamics of electrons confined in such devices
starting from the study of the properties of the trajectories. In cases of interest,
in which electron-neutral collision frequency is much smaller with respect to the
characteristic frequencies of the motion, suitable time averages of the trajectories are
introduced in order to simplify the analysis of the problem. In the work, time averages
have been calculated in a simple way by using an approximate r−z decoupling of the
effective potential. Results obtained with the method are presented and discussed in
both linear and nonlinear regimesPenning trap, ergodic methods, electron dynamics, time-averag
PRATICA RELIGIOSA E QUALITA' DELLA VITA IN ITALIA E INDIA. UN CONFRONTO TRA CULTURE E RELIGIONI.
Several studies highlighted that religious practice and spirituality are independent indicators of the levels of subjective well-being and quality of life. Faith, through its influence on behaviors and values, provides answers to the human need for meaning and hope, allowing for self-transcendence and openness towards a broader meaning context.
This study aims at analyzing differences and similarities in the practice of religion and its role on perceived quality of life among participants belonging to three different religious traditions: Christianity, Hinduism, Islam.
Data were collected in India among 50 participants: 20 of them were Christians, 10 Muslims and 20 Hindus. A group of 20 Christians was recruited in Italy, to be compared with the Indian Christians. Participants were administered a) Flow Questionnaire, b) Life Theme Questionnaire, c) Order/Disorder Questionnaire, d) Eudaimonic and Hedonic Happiness Investigation, and e) a questionnaire specifically designed to investigate the meaning and role of God in participants’ life, and participants’ understanding of other religions.
Results showed that faith and relationship with God played a central role in the life of participants across groups, being related to future goals, providing meaning and a positive interpretation of events and relations. These findings point to possible directions to improve interreligious dialogue
Linear transport theory for particles moving on a spherical surface
The paper deals with a linear transport model for particles moving on a spherical surface in the presence of absorption and scattering events. Starting from the analytical expression for the particle density in the case of a pure absorbing sphere, an integral equation is derived for situations in which isotropic scattering is present. The equation has been solved numerically in order to obtain the Green function of the problem. Analytical and numerical results are compared with those obtained resorting to the Monte Carlo method
A Simple model for the dynamics of the electrons in a spherical plasma irradiated by a laser pulse
The paper deals with the dynamics of the electrons in the first phase of the expansion of a spherical plasma irradiated by an ultraintense laser pulse, in which the ions can be considered as immobile. A simple model of “competitive escape” is proposed, in which the electrons leaving the ion sphere increase a potential barrier that prevents other electrons from escaping
