    [Letter from Ethel Quade to T. N. Carswell - May 7, 1970]

    No full text
A letter written to Mr. Carswell from Mrs. Glyn (Ethel) Quade, Sagerton, Texas, dated May 7, 1970. Quade expresses her wish to see him and Mrs. Carswell again and, also, expresses her appreciation for the Ideals subscription. She asks what is happening to our beautiful America, land of the free, discussing the student unrest not only on the campuses at Lawrence, Kansas where Larry attends and at the University of Texas where Lyndell attends but all over the country pointing to the war and draft as a continual dread for students. She advises that Glyn is doing fairly well, the Jack Quades are all right and asks after Mrs. Carswell

1^{1} Microwave detection of direct trans to gauche transitions in CH2DOHCH_{2}DOH. C. F. Su and C. R. Quade. (To appear in J. Mol. Spec. spring '89). 2^{2} Microwave detection of direct gauche to trans transitions in CHD2OHCHD_{2}OH. C. F. Su and C. R. Quade, J. Chem. Phys. 90, 1396(1989). 3^{3} P. Venkateswarlu and H. Gordy, J. Chem. Phys. 32, 1200(1955).Author Institution: Department of Physics, Texas Tech UniversityAn IAM theory has been developed for application in the spectral analysis of CH2DOH1CH_{2}DOH^{1} and CHD2OH2CHD_{2}OH{^{2}}. Torsion-rotation term values are calculated with first principles from the molecular structure in a3a_{3}single degree of internal freedom model. A modified V and G structure gives the best fit to the data, even improving upon the phenomonological approach reported with the spectra.1,2spectra.^{1,2} However, it is clear from the spectral fit that vibration-rotation-internal rotation interactions are also important

    1. A Serrallach, R. Mever, and Hs. H. Gunthard, J. Mol. Spec. 52, 94(1974). 2. C. R. Quade and R. D. Suenram, J. Chem. Phys. 73, 1127(1980): 81, 1054(1984).Author Institution: Department of Physics, Texas Tech UniversityThe contribution of the zeropoint energy from the 3N - 7 other vibrations to the effective potential energy for internal rotation have been calculated for eight isotopic species of methyl alcohol. The basis of the calculation is the set of force constants determined by Serrallach, Meyer, and Gunthard1Gunthard^{1} from infrared analyses. The calculated results for CH2DOHCH_{2}DOH are V1=11.93cm1V_{1}=11.93 cm^{-1} and V2=0.17cm1V_{2} =0.17 cm^{-1} with Δv3<0.05cm1\Delta v_{3} < 0.05 cm^{-1}. These values agree favorably with the experimental results as previously determined by Quade and Suenram2Suenram^{2} from analysis of the microwave torsional-rotational spectra of CH2DOHCH_{2}DOH

A quantum description of impact ionization in semiconductors

    No full text
The authors have studied impact ionization with a quantum-mechanical approach beyond the Boltzmann equation. The theoretical background is a two-band density-matrix formalism where, in an electron-hole picture, particle conservation means that only the difference of electrons and holes remains constant. A quantum Monte Carlo procedure has been extended, in the second-quantization formalism, to include variable numbers of electrons and holes. The second-order correction to the number of electrons as a function of time has been evaluated. For delta-like initial distribution functions, quantum-mechanical and semiclassical results are compared. In contrast to a semiclassical treatment, nonconserving energy transitions at short times and the intracollisional field effect influence impact ionization above and below threshold

    Blockchain: The Transformation of Accounting

    No full text
With accounting failures leading to billions of dollars lost each year, how can we combat these losses? A new technology known as blockchain transaction is revolutionizing the auditing and taxation systems to become more secure and trustworthy for the businesses involved. Ryan Quade breaks down the steps of blockchain transactions and explains the transformation this is creating in the roles of auditors as well as the potential influence on tax systems. Many executives are adopting this change in their companies. If you are not on board yet, this article will inform you of the effect blockchain is having and motivate you to implement it in your business
