A Profile of Fatherhood Among Young Men: Moving Away from Their Birth Family and Closer to Their Child.
Have things changed all that much in terms of how fatherhood is conceptualized and exercised in daily life? That is the question underlying this article. The author compares the findings of a recent analysis on certain aspects of the lived experiences of young fathers (under 25 years of age) with the results of studies undertaken over the past ten years, and replies in the affirmative. First of all, when considering the representations held of fathers or mothers, most of these young fathers believe that their role is a multi-faceted one, and that it is often identical to that of their spouse. According to young fathers, fatherhood is a dual experience that requires them to be present on a daily basis while also casting their eye on the future. This is an experience that is constructed out of affectionate moments, child-care duties, education in the literal sense, and especially out of shared experiences with their spouse. In addition, they question the degree to which involvement in a career should take precedence over involvement in their child's life. In other words, the former 'competes' with their ability to be present in their child's daily life, which denotes a change from the attitudes of previous generations.Fatherhood, Young Fathers, Representation, Paternal Identity, Qualitative Research
Use of unreduced gametes of diploid potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) for true potato seed [TPS] production through 4x-2x crosses
The thesis describes the genetic bases of 2n-pollen formation. A comparison was made of the frequencies of 2n-pollen production in a different environment using the progeny of diallel crosses between five well-known diploid clones and three clones of Solanum phureja. It was evident that this character has a complex type of inheritance; through repeated cycles of selection for 2n-pollen a four-fold increase could be achieved at population level. Through proper selection of diploid male parents it was established that 2n-pollen genotypes can be effective for transferring useful characters, like bacterial wilt resistance, in 4x-2x crosses. The progenies derived from 4x-2x, 4x-4x and 4x-selfings were compared to find the optimal breeding approach for the production of TPS varieties. There were clear indications that it was possible to breed TPS varieties directly by 4x-2x crosses. This means that the advantages of breeding at diploid level and the effective transfer of desirable Units by 2n-gametes can be used in the TPS breeding
Neuropeptide Y is an essential in vivo developmental regulator of cardiac I-Ca,I-L
Cell culture studies demonstrate an increase in cardiac L-type Ca2+ current (I-Ca,I-L) density on sympathetic innervation in vitro and suggest the effect depends on neurally released neuropeptide Y (NPY). To determine if a similar mechanism contributes to the postnatal increase in I-Ca,I-L in vivo, we prepared isolated ventricular myocytes from neonatal and adult mice with targeted deletion of the NPY gene (Npy(-/-)) and matched controls (Npy(+/+)). Whole-cell voltage clamp demonstrates I-Ca,I-L density increases postnatally in Npy(+/+) (by 56%), but is unchanged in Npy(-/-). Both I-Ca,I-L density and action potential duration are significantly greater in adult Npy(+/+) than Npy(-/-) myocytes, whereas I-Ca,I-L density is equivalent in neonatal Npy(+/+) and Npy(-/-) myocytes. These data indicate NPY does not influence ICa,L prenatally, but the postnatal increase in I-Ca,I-L density is entirely NPY-dependent. In contrast, there is a similar postnatal negative voltage shift in the I-V relation in Npy(+/+) and Npy(-/-), indicating NPY does not influence the developmental change in I-Ca,I-L voltage-dependence. Immunoblot analyses and measurements of maximally activated I-Ca,I-L (in presence of forskolin or BayK 8644) show that the differences in current density between Npy(+/+) and Npy(-/-) cannot be attributed to altered Ca2+ channel alpha(1C) subunit protein expression. Rather, these results suggest that the in vivo NPY-dependent postnatal increase in I-Ca,I-L density in cardiac myocytes results from regulation I-Ca,I-L properties by NPY
destas atividades como metodologia did?tica no ensino m?dio.
As atividades l?dicas utilizadas

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Mapping Atlas of Shenzhen - Urban Villages
This publication is in response to the call of 2017 Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism\Architecture (Shenzhen) (UABB) “Cities, Grow in Difference”, from the perspective of urbanism: the synthesis of factors that collectively determine the spatial use of the city. This atlas is based on master graduation theses of Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) from 2013 to 2017. Since 2012, TU Delft collaborated with INTI (International New Town Institute in the Netherlands) for research and education programmes on the development of Shenzhen. In the past 4 years, more than 10 students did their master theses on urban villages in Shenzhen. Materials shown in this atlas are chosen mapping work from these master theses, which visualize the socio-economic and spatial conditions of urban villages in Shenzhen, covering areas from the central urban districts (such as Baishizhou) to the peripheral districts (such as Dalang) and new towns (such as Guangming New Town).Spatial Planning and Strateg
Finite-time distributed energy-to-peak control for uncertain multiagent systems
This paper investigates the finite-time distributed L2-L∞ consensus control problem of multiagent systems with parameter uncertainties. The relative states of neighboring agents are used to construct the control law and some agents know their own states. By substituting the control input into multiagent systems, an augmented closed-loop system is obtained. Then, we analyze its finite-time boundedness (FTB) and finite-time L2-L∞ performance. A sufficient condition for the existence of the designed controller is given with the form of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Finally, simulation results are described. © 2014 Qu Chenggang et al
