Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Th e Use of Media in the Autonomous Learning of Czech as a Foreign Language by Persons with International Protection
No full textČlánek představuje výsledky šetření, které proběhlo mezi osobami s mezinárodní ochranou v České republice v letech 2020–2022 a bylo zaměřeno na otázku využívání médií při autonomním učení se češtiny jako cizího jazyka. Hlavním cílem bylo zjistit, nakolik se z pohledu osob s mezinárodní ochranou projevil nástup nových médií v autonomním, ale i řízeném rozvoji řečových dovedností v češtině jako druhém jazyku, a – pokud došlo k zásadním změnám – na které dovednosti je nutno se v integračních jazykových kurzech češtiny nově zaměřit.
Metody – V rámci šetření proběhlo celkem 27 strukturovaných rozhovorů s kvalifikováním odpovědí v dotazníku, které byly posléze interpretovány na základě fenomenologické analýzy.
Výsledky a závěry – Z šetření vyplynulo, že osoby s mezinárodní ochranou jsou dobře obeznámeny s možnostmi využití médií při autonomním učení se češtiny a že za tímto účelem cíleně využívají jak tradiční, tak nová média. Současně bylo možno vysledovat, že jsou si vědomy rozdílů v rozvoji jednotlivých řečových dovedností. Zejména rozvoj produktivních dovedností, tedy mluvení a psaní, očekávají od jazykových integračních kurzů nabízených státem.Objectives – The article presents the results of a survey that took place among persons with international protection in the Czech Republic in the years 2020–2022 and focused on the use of media in the autonomous learning of Czech as a foreign language. The primary objective was to investigate how the evolution of new media impacts the independent and regulated development of language competences in the Czech language, as perceived by individuals with international protection. Additionally, in the event of significant changes, the study aimed to identify the specificskills that should be emphasized in integration language courses of Czech as a second language.
Methods – As part of the investigation, a total of 27 structured interviews and corresponding number of survey entries were interpreted on the basis of phenomenological analysis.
Results and conclusions – The investigation showed that persons with international protection are well aware of the possibilities of using media in autonomous learning of Czech as their second language and that they use both traditional and new media for this purpose. At the same time, it was possible to trace that they are aware of the diff erences in the development of individual language competences. In particular, they expect the development of output competences, i.e. speaking and writing, from language integration courses offered by the state
Affirmation und Infragestellung des literarischen (Deutungs-) Kanons in gegenwärtigen tschechischen Theaterproduktionen – eine Fallstudie
No full textSeitdem Thomas Anz im Jahre 1998 seine Klassifizierung des Kanon-Begriffs veröffentlicht hat, gilt diese als Grundlage wissenschaftlicher Kanon-Debatten und eröffnet aktuelle Themenbereiche und Perspektiven für weitere Forschung. Betrachtet man die verschiedenen gesellschaftlichen Realisierungsformen des literarischen Kanons durch das Prisma der von Anz entworfenen Begriffspaare, dann werden Trennungslinien deutlich, die bis dahin unbemerkt geblieben sind. So werden aufgrund der von Anz entworfenen Gegenüberstellung von "materiellem Kanon" und "Deutungskanon" Fragen nach der Institutionalisierung des materiellen Kanons durch die Bildungsinstitutionen einerseits und nach der Bekräftigung oder Infragestellung des Deutungskanons durch die performative Praxis in gegenwärtigen Theaterproduktionen andererseits gestellt. Der vorliegende Beitrag geht den oben erwähnten Fragen nach, indem verschiedene Brünner Inszenierungen der Jahre 2010–2020 mit Blick auf die Affirmation oder die Infragestellung der kanonisierten Interpretation der Texte analysiert werden

With this image, he followed the tradition which began with the specific perception of Tacitus' Germania by Jakob Grimm in his famous book "Deutsche Mythologie". Guido List took over Grimm's propositions and developed them according to the propositions of the conservative völkisch movement and his own distinctive ideology. This article analyses List's strategies to make these different propositions compatible. Another aspect of that kind of glorifying German women is an attempt to utilize the witch-processes against the Catholic Church. Ein Unterrichtsansatz zu Kleists Erzählung Das Bettelweib von Locarno.. Entwurf einer Visualisierung für den Lese- und Literaturunterricht
Get PDFDer vorliegende Beitrag stellt einen Unterrichtsentwurf als Ergänzung zum traditionellen schriftorientierten Lese- und Literaturunterricht vor. In der Einleitung werden kurz die theoretischen Grundlagen der Verwendung von Visualisierungen zur Förderung des Lernens, besonders die Ansätze der Dual-Coding-Theorie, vorgestellt. Anschließend wird der Prozess der Entstehung von mentalen Bildern bei der Textwahrnehmung und deren Externalisierung erörtert, um im letzten Teil zu einem konkreten Entwurf für den Leseunterricht am Beispiel der Erzählung Das Bettelweib von Locarno von Heinrich von Kleist zu kommen. In diesem Beitrag wird angenommen, dass die Externalisierung von inneren Bildern „in den Köpfen“ der Lernenden eine effektive Ergänzung zum erfolgreichen Literaturunterricht darstellt.This paper presents a lesson design as a supplement to the traditional reading and literature lessons. The introduction briefly describes the theoretical foundations of the use of visualizations to promote learning, especially the approaches of the Dual Coding Theory. It describes the emergence of mental images during textual perception and their possible externalization. The main part of this paper introduces a concrete design for reading lessons using the example of the short story Das Bettelweib von Locarno by Heinrich von Kleist. In this paper it is assumed that the externalization of the mental imagery "in the minds" of the students is an effective complement to successful literature classes

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. The instrumentalization of the "tortured artist myth" : the birth of a legend of the völkisch writer Guido List
No full textThis article presents the legend about Guido List, an Austrian völkisch oriented writer, a typical instance of the "suffering-artist-myth". The crucial question then is: How is it possible that a thoroughly mediocre writer who under normal circumstances would have been long forgotten became a legend in the occult and right-wing movements in the 20th century, and moreover, maintains this status till nowadays? The article shows the role of List's self-portraying and focuses on the instrumentalization of "the tortured artist myth" by him, his followers, but also in the contemporary neopagan and right-wing movement
