    BODY COMPOSITION OF ONGOLE CROSSBRED GROWING BULL UNDER INTENSIVE FEEDING MANAGEMENT

    The objective of this study was to evaluate the correlation between age and body composition of ongole crossbred growing bull under intensive feeding management. Eight Ongole Crossbred growing bull aged 6-18 months old with initial live weight ranged at 133.5-228 kg were used in this study. They were fed Napier grass (Pennisetum purpureum) ad libitum and concentrate feeding at 2.1% of body weight (dry matter basis) which was adjusted to contain 15% protein. The grass was wilted for 7 days prior to feeding. The change of body composition was done in two methods. The first method is histological components by slaughtering animal to measure meat, bone and fat. The second method is chemical composition to determine water, protein and fat. The later body composition was measured during raising under intensive feeding regime for three months and determined by urea space method. The results showed that total meat, bone and fat were increased as cattle age increased, with correlations values between these body components and age were ranged at 0.53-0.72, or if those components were percentaged to the empty body weight, the correla-tion were 0.04, 0.40 and -0.46, for bone, fat and meat, respectively. These were suggested as a result of different growth rate of body components. In the chemical components, the EBH2O, EBPro and EBFat were ranged at 48.3-53.7% (average 51.22%), 12.5-13.8% (21.54%) and 27.0-34.18% (average 30.38%), respectively, with correlation values were ranged at 0.68-0.69. It could be concluded that during 6-18 m.o. growing period, the growth rate of bone was at the stable rate due to reaching the bone maturity. The weak correlation between age and meat and fat showed that age has small effect on the growth rate, even though fat deposition tended to start and grow in higher rates than that of meat during this age.     Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Prediction of Feed Digestibility Using Differences in NIRS Spectra between Feeds and Feces at a Determined Region of Wavelength

    Abstract A total of seventy-two pairs of feed and fecal samples collected from the digestion trials of dairy catlle were used in the study to predict dry matter digestibility (OMO). organic matter digestibility (OMO) and total digestible nutrients (TON) using near infrared reflectance spectroscopy. Calibration and prediction were made from the difference of second derivative spectra between feeds and feces. From these spectra. 31. 28 and 13 samples were separated for calibration. prediction and test. respectively. Wavelengths of 1878.2172.2278 and 2362nm were selected from determined region at 1900-.2200-.2300-and 2400-nm for developing the calibration equations for DI\10. OMO and TDN. Correlation coefficient for DMD. OMD and TDN of the calibration were 0.95, 0.92 and 0.95, respectively. while the standard error were 2.9 for the first two nutrients and 2.8 for TDN. Whereas, r values (and standard error) for the prediction equations were 0.89 (3.5). 0.92 (3.32), and 0.91 (3.16), while for the test samples, were 0.97 (1.96). 0.97 (1.88) and 0.96 (1.94). respectively. This study showed the possibility and applicability of predicting digestibil· ity and TDN using the spectra difference of feeds and feces through the wavelengths from four determined regions above 1900-nm.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Investigation of Free Moving Particles on the Breakdown Voltage in Gas Insulated Switchgears (GIS) under Different Electrical Stresses

    Although the Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) reliability has been proven for more than forty years, some failures have been reported. CIGRE report 25/23-01 mentioned the failures caused by free particles and foreign bodies represent 20% of the total distribution of defect type in GIS failures. The presence of these particles results in a local field concentration which influences the insulation medium and can result in breakdown. Under AC voltage, particles can start “moving" or "jumping" into higher electric field regions. Breakdown may occur if stressing overvoltages, e.g. AC + VFTO, DC + VFTO and AC + LI would occur at the particle get close or attached to the HV conductor In thesis the influence of free moving particles on the breakdown strength in GIS under different voltage stresses are investigated. For this purpose Different GIS test setups have been used. Particles lengths ranging between 2 to 30 mm have been investigated at 4bar gas pressure. The results have shown that the particles size of 5 mm and longer can start jumping under AC voltage, while shorter particles were tend to show only a little movements The visual observations have shown that the particles were moving towards the HV electrode and solid insulators inside the GIS. Therefore the particles as small as 5 mm are considered dangerous to the insulation system under continuous operating AC voltage. A breakdown area have been distinguished based on the particles length under AC + LI. the particles of 15 mm length and longer are critical under AC + LI. The investigation under AC + VFTO has been performed with the maximum peak 2.1 p.u. At this level, the breakdown has been observed with the 30 mm particle at 90% of the distance gap. During the experiments partial discharge measurements have been performed by means of: \u95 the conventional method (IEC 60270) \u95 the UHF method \u95 the acoustic method The PD results have shown that some defects can cause a PD level higher than 10pC.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    Asset Health Index and Risk Assessment Models for High Voltage Gas-Insulated Switchgear Operating in Tropical Environment

    Following deregulation in the energy sector during the 1990s, which was also triggered by the ageing of infrastructure and the increasing demands from regulators and customers, many network utilities adopted the Asset Management (AM) in the hope to earn more, have better credit ratings and gain from stock prices. In line with this fact, the emergence of the AM international standard, such as the ISO 55000 series in 2014, gained rapid acceptance among network utilities around the globe. AM has its core in the asset decision-making process. This activity lies simultaneously at the strategic, tactical and operational level of AM, over the lifecycle of the asset. In such an environment, the asset managing department should not only focus on the reliability of the asset but also on balancing costs, risks and asset performance. Regarding maintenance, the money spent on every maintenance task should benefit the company’s business values. This thesis focuses on the development of decision-making tools for maintenance of high voltage AC (HVAC) gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) operating under tropical conditions. GIS has been chosen because of its critical role in the transmission network. Any GIS breakdown is usually expensive and requires an extensive outage. Moreover, under tropical conditions, this study observed GIS failure rates over twice the value reported by CIGRE’s survey of 2007. The study was conducted in this research’s case study termed the Java Bali (JABA) case study. The latter consists of 631 CB-bays of 150 kV and 500 kV GISs located in Java and Bali of Indonesia.Today’s AM decision-making tools for electrical power grids are generally based on Asset Health Index (AHI) and risk assessment (RA) models. These models assist the asset manager in answering the following questions:1. What is the condition of each GIS in the network?2. Which one is more likely to fail compared to the others?3. Which one is more critical compared to the others in terms of making a possible impact on the company’s business such that the mitigating action is prioritised?4. What optimal action(s) is/are needed to be taken?Developing the above-mentioned models requires sufficient knowledge of the characteristics of GIS operating under tropical conditions. To that purpose, both statistical analysis and forensic investigations in the JABA case study have been undertaken to find the critical condition indicators for the AHI model. The results are as follows:1. The tropical conditions have influenced both directly and indirectly the performance of GIS. Corrosions at the exposed GIS parts were seen to have a common direct influence of tropical conditions. They can trigger leakages, secondary, and lead to driving mechanism subsystems’ failures, which reduce the GIS’ performance. The intensive and frequent lightning in tropical conditions is a so-called Failure Susceptibility Indicator (FSI), indicating that a failure mode is expected to initiate more likely than for the same GIS in other environments, especially if the surge arrester fails to protect. Moreover, the GISs outdoor and from the older generation are more susceptible to breakdown under tropical conditions.2. A high amount of humidity was found in the non-CB enclosures of GIS from lower voltage class (i.e. Class 2 GIS with a voltage level of 150 kV). The origin of this humidity mainly comes from the desorption of moisture from the spacer or internal GIS surfaces during operation. 3. The critical failure modes in GIS operating under tropical conditions are as follows: dielectric insulation breakdown, loss of mechanical integrity in the primary conductor and failing to perform the requested operation due to driving mechanism failure.Following this study’s findings, laboratory tests in the HV Laboratory of TU Delft were conducted to investigate the influence of high humidity content on the spacer flashover in GIS. The results confirmed without condensation, humidity has no impact on the withstanding strength of the insulation system under AC, LI+/- and SI. Our model also showed that the breakdown voltage under LI+ due to condensation at the surface of a solid insulator is lower than that due to a 2 mm metallic particle attached on the identical solid insulator at 3000 ppmV. We applied the findings from both field investigation and laboratory tests into our models in the following ways:1. In the AHI model:a. Statistical and JABA lab case studies were performed to assess the system’s vulnerabilities and normative levels, in particular, the humidity content in GIS the non-CB enclosure as long as the value was far from the possibility of condensation.b. The likelihood of failure is determined by so-called condition scale codes reflecting the deterioration of the subsystems. c. The failure susceptibility indicators (FSI) flag deviating circumstances, such as heavy environmental conditions, operation and maintenance records and the inherent/design factor of GIS. The FSI are just an expectation that is not based on evidence as in a condition indicator. Therefore, the FSI work as warning flags for the decision-maker. 2. In the RA model:a. Risk is defined as the likelihood of failure times the consequences. The result of the AHI defines the likelihood of failure in the RA model. b. On the other hand, the consequences consist of seven business values of a transmission utility from the JABA case study, namely, safety, extra fuel cost, energy not served, equipment cost, customer satisfaction, leadership and environment. We have successfully implemented these models on a GIS example from the JABA case study. Evaluation of possible risk treatments was also done using multi-criteria analysis (MCA) to optimise three parameters: cost, time-to-finish treatment and residual risk. In practice, transmission utilities face more complex situations with more types of equipment in the network. The methodology discussed in this thesis, however, can be the cornerstone for the development of decision-making tools for other assets at the tactical level of AM as well.DC systems, Energy conversion & Storag

    The Thursday Murder Club: Launching a megabrand author - a publishing case study

    In 2020, the Christmas book charts in the UK made headlines: Barack Obama’s eagerly awaited autobiography, The Promised Land, was beaten to the top spot by The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman, a debut cosy crime novel set in a retirement village. Not only did Osman’s book beat the former US president’s expected bestseller, it also broke records, becoming the fastest-selling debut crime novel of all time. Although Osman has a certain level of fame in the UK from his TV appearances on shows such as Pointless, his celebrity status does not entirely explain the novel’s huge sales. This article tracks the acquisition, publication, and promotion journey of The Thursday Murder Club in order to understand the industry and cultural context of its success and to interrogate the role of celebrity in the creation of author brands. The findings suggest that the unexpected scale of the success of the book owed to a number of factors, including in-depth editing by the novel’s agent, editor, and author to tighten up the plot, an extensive and strategic promotional campaign, the pandemic (which drove interest in the book’s genre and themes), and the quality of the writing. We find that the book’s success was accentuated by Osman’s celebrity status rather than being entirely reliant on it. This research adds to the growing scholarship on celebrity authorship by means of an in-depth case study and provides insight into the processes behind publishing a ‘celebrity’ book and launching a megabrand author
