    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Problems in the management of mung bean at the farmer level include low productivity. Weeds are one of the causes of decreased yield of green beans. Therefore, proper weed control is carried out so as not to cause yield losses. The purpose of this study was to determine the critical period of mung bean (Vigna radiata L.) against competition with weeds. This research was conducted at UPT Main Seed Hal Tanjung Selamat, Medan Tuntungan District, North Sumatra, from February 2022 to June 2022. This study used a non-factorial randomized block design (RBD) with 8 weeding time periods. The results showed that different weeding times on mung bean plants had a significant effect on all treatments, namely plant height 2 WAP, plant height 4 WAP, number of productive branches, number of pods per plant, pod weight per plant, pod weight per plot, seed weight. per plant, weight of 100 seeds, and weight of seeds per plot. The dominant weeds found in the research area were Cyperus rotundus weeds, Synedrella nodiflora weeds and Cynodon dactylon weeds.     Eleusine indica is an example of a weed whose presence can be found in almost all plantations or crop cultivation. The occurrence of herbicide-resistant weeds has increased over the last few decades. The presence of herbicide-resistant weeds is the result of using the same type of herbicide for years or using it repeatedly. Therefore proper weed control is carried out in order to reduce the weed population. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of using glyphosate herbicide under the recommended dosage (1080g a.e/ha), refining biotype and growth phase on refining growth. This study used a factorial randomized group design (RBD) with 3 treatment factors, namely, dose, growth phase, and biotype in order to obtain 18 combinations namely B1F1D0, B1F1D1, B1F1D2, B1F2D0, B1F2D1, B1F2D2, B1F3D0, B1F3D1, B1F3D2, B2F1D0, B2F1D1, B2F1D2, B2F2D0, B2F2D1, B2F2D2, B2F3D1, B2F3D0, B2F. The results showed that as a result of glyphosate administration, all resistant biotypes survived while none of the sensitive biotypes survived. There was an interaction between the suture biotype, growth phase, and glyphosate on the parameters of plant seed weight in the field.     Oil palm (Elaeis guinensis Jacq) is a type of plantation crop that occupies an important position in the agricultural sector. Weed control using herbicides will cause changes in weed composition. Syngonium podophyllum is one of the weeds in oil palm plants. S. Podophyllum comes from South America, namely from Mexico, known from Costa Rica and Panama. S. podophyllum belongs to the Araceae family. Herbicides can temporarily or further stop weed growth when treated at the right size. In other words, the type and level of chemical toxins of an herbicide determines the meaning of the herbicide itself. This research will be carried out in the area of PT Perkebunan Sumatra Utara, Sei Kari, North Sumatra, which will be carried out from August to October 2024 This research uses a nonfactorial group random design (RAK) method with 10 treatments and 3 replicates.     Oil palm is the main source of vegetable oil and the largest foreign exchange earner for the country, but there are growth constraints in the TBM phase due to the presence of weeds, especially Eleusine indica. One of the efforts made is using ammonium glufosinate and glyphosate herbicides, but long-term use can cause resistance in Eleusine indica. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of ammonium glufosinate herbicide against Eleusine indica around oil palm plants with glyphosate herbicide as the comparison. This research was conducted at Rambung Estate Serdang Bedagai in October 2024 to January 2025, using a non-factorial completely randomized design, consisting of 6 treatments, namely control, ammonium glufosinate (450g b.a/ha), ammonium glufosinate (450g b.a/ha + Unison 0.2%), ammonium glufosinate (580g b.a/ha), ammonium glufosinate (580g b.a/ha + unison 0.2%), glyphosate (1080g b.a/ha). The results showed that ammonium glufosinate (580g b.a/ha) and ammonium glufosinate (580g b.a/ha + Unison 0.2%) treatments had a significant effect on the level of poisoning and the percentage of Eleusine indica death.
