Aprendendo a ser assessora pedagógica universitária: um estudo narrativo da experiência
Get PDFThrough an autobiographical narrative investigation, the text presents the composite meanings of a pedagogical advisor\u27s experiences in a Brazilian federal university. The main objective of the study, in line with the principles of narrative research, is to understand the construction of individual identity and, at the same time, reflect on the position of pedagogical advice in the university context. A set of stories from the experiences constituted the investigation data, and the metaphor of three-dimensional space mediated the interpretation. The composite meanings are represented by two thematic threads, whose structuring are the concepts of experiential learning, identity and formation. Among the findings emerging from the research, the following stand out: the lack of definition about the configuration and place of pedagogical advisors at the university; the role of the advisor for the qualification of follow-up and systematization of training actions; the relevance of advisory services and their professionals for the implementation of an institutional culture of decentralized training; the challenging context faced by the pedagogue, an administrative staff in education, often lacking the legitimacy to exercise his role; and also the identity implications of the negotiation process between individual and institutional narratives. Finally, the demand for more studies on the subject, still nascent in Brazil, is reiterated based on these professionals\u27 voices.El texto presenta los significados compuestos sobre las experiencias vividas por una asesora pedagógica, en una universidad federal brasileña, a través de una investigación narrativa autobiográfica. El objetivo principal del estudio, en línea con los principios de la investigación narrativa, es comprender la construcción de la identidad individual y, al mismo tiempo, reflexionar sobre la posición de la asesoría pedagógica en el contexto universitario. Un conjunto de relatos de las experiencias constituyó los datos de la investigación y la interpretación estuvo mediada por la metáfora del espacio tridimensional. Los significados compuestos están representados por dos hilos temáticos, cuya estructuración son los conceptos de aprendizaje experiencial, identidad y formación. Entre los hallazgos que emergen de la investigación, se destacan: la falta de definición sobre la configuración y lugar de los asesores pedagógicos en la universidad; el papel del asesor para la calificación del seguimiento y sistematización de las acciones formativas; la relevancia de las asesorías y sus profesionales para la implementación de una cultura institucional de formación descentralizada; el contexto desafiante que enfrenta el pedagogo, técnico administrativo en educación, muchas veces carente de legitimidad para ejercer su rol; y también las implicaciones identitarias del proceso de negociación entre narrativas individuales e institucionales. Finalmente, se reitera la demanda de más estudios sobre el tema, aún incipiente en Brasil, a partir de las voces de estos profesionales.Le texte présente les significations composites des expériences vécues par une conseiller pédagogique, dans une université fédérale brésilienne, à travers une enquête narrative autobiographique. L\u27objectif principal de l\u27étude, conformément aux principes de la recherche narrative, est de comprendre la construction de l\u27identité individuelle et, en même temps, de réfléchir sur la place du conseil pédagogique dans le contexte universitaire. Un ensemble d\u27histoires tirées des expériences a constitué les données de l\u27enquête et l\u27interprétation a été médiatisée par la métaphore de l\u27espace tridimensionnel. Les significations composites sont représentées par deux fils thématiques, dont la structuration sont les concepts d\u27apprentissage expérientiel, d\u27identité et de formation. Parmi les constats qui ressortent de la recherche, les suivants ressortent : le manque de définition quant à la configuration et à la place des conseillers pédagogiques à l\u27université ; le rôle du conseiller pour la qualification du suivi et la systématisation des actions de formation ; la pertinence des services conseils et de leurs professionnels pour la mise en place d\u27une culture institutionnelle de formation décentralisée ; le contexte difficile auquel est confronté le pédagogue, technicien administratif en éducation, souvent dépourvu de légitimité pour exercer son rôle ; et aussi les implications identitaires du processus de négociation entre récits individuels et institutionnels. Um conjunto de histórias das experiências constituiu os dados da investigação e a interpretação foi mediada pela metáfora do espaço tridimensional. Os sentidos compostos são representados por dois fios temáticos, cujas estruturantes são os conceitos de aprendizagem experiencial, de identidade e de formação. Dentre as constatações emergentes da pesquisa, destacam-se: a indefinição acerca da configuração e do lugar das assessorias pedagógicas na universidade; o papel do assessor para a qualificação do acompanhamento e sistematização das ações formativas; a relevância das assessorias e de seus profissionais para a implementação de uma cultura institucional de formação descentralizada; o contexto desafiador enfrentado pelo pedagogo, técnico administrativo em educação, muitas vezes destituído de legitimidade para exercer seu papel; e, ainda, as implicações identitárias do processo de negociação entre as narrativas individuais e institucionais. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
