Exporting shrimp to United states by PT. XYZ - a comparative study in trading to three different states: California, New Jersey, and Florida
PT. XYZ is a seafood trading company located in Surabaya. It is a representative office for United States buyer in Indonesia and it only takes care seafood trading to United States. The stiff competition from other exporting countries and other seafood trading companies has influenced the fluctuation of export volume and value of PT. XYZ. In this case, California, New Jersey, and Florida are the three states that held the highest exported value from PT. XYZ in 2008. Therefore, this descriptive and quantitative research is aimed to identify the trends or phenomena happen in those three states and the influential factors behind them. The analysis will be divided into two main analyses. The first one is analyzing the shrimp order volume with price and exchange rate and the second one is analyzing the shrimp export value with beef price, pork price, chicken price, and fish price. Model analysis used is multiple regression analysis. The result shows that all order volumes in the three states are not influenced by price and exchange rate. In addition, the export values in California are influenced by beef price and chicken price negatively whereas the export values in New Jersey and Florida are influenced by beef price positively
INFLUENTIAL FACTORS IN CHOOSING HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION: A CASE STUDY OF A PRIVATE UNIVERSITY IN SURABAYA
Nowadays, tertiary education has taken more important role for Indonesian people. The growing number of tertiary education enrollment rate accompanied by the increasing number of higher education insitutions in Indonesia show that there is opportunity as well as threat for higher education insitutions in Indonesia. The purpose of this research is to know what factors influence the high school students in choosing their higher education institution. Specifically, this research wants to help one of the best private universities in Surabaya to improve its competitiveness compared to other higher education institutions. The respondents of the research are 426 students from several high schools in Surabaya. The analysis is done using descriptive statistics to find out which factors are the most significant ones. From the research, it is found out that the students’ interest, the ability to follow the courses, and the parents’ advice are the top three significant factors that influence the high school students in choosing their higher education institution. For the attributes of the institution, the reputation and the values of the institution as well as the success of its alumni are the top three factors that influence the decision in choosing the higher education institution
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Employee Satisfaction, Quality of Customer Interaction, Customer Satisfaction: Its Relationship in an Educational Context
Although there has been many researches analyzing the relationship between employee satisfaction and customer satisfaction, to the writers knowledge, there has been no research that analyzes the relationship between employee satisfaction and customer satisfaction by using the quality of customer interaction as the mediator in an educational context. This research therefore aims to investigate the relationship of these three variables whereby focusing solely on the educational context. Further, it is hypothesized that the quality of customer interaction acts as the mediator for this relationship. Subjects of this study are lecturers and students from a private university in Surabaya. 38 dyadic data were obtained and further analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling. Results of this study revealed that there is a significant indirect effect (not a mediated effect) between employee satisfaction and customer satisfaction through quality of customer interaction
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
The Impact of Product Attributes, Price, Place, Advertising, and Sales Promotion: A Case of Kids Shampoo in Indonesia
Kids shampoo has been the main driver of growth for the slow-growing baby and child hair care industry in Indonesia. Knowing this phenomenon, Company A launched Product X, a kids shampoo product, in 2016. The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of elements of marketing mix (intrinsic and extrinsic product attributes, place, price, advertising, and sales promotion) on purchase intention. There are 109 valid questionnaires were collected through online questionnaires and then analyzed using multiple linear regression and gap analysis. The result shows that intrinsic and extrinsic product attributes, sales promotion, and place influenced purchase intention significantly, while price and advertising were not significant. From the gap analysis, the perceived performance of Product X on four significant elements was lower than the expectation

The Indirect Effect of Computer Self-Efficacy of E-Commerce Users on Intention to Use
Indonesias E-commerce market has tremendous growth and is predicted to become a significant contributor to Foreign Direct Investment. Millennials, profoundly affected by technology and the Internet, are considered the drivers growth of e-commerce. Applying the modified Technology Acceptance Model (TAM)
theory, this research analyzes whether perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness mediate the impact of computer self-efficacy on e-commerce users behavior to use the Lazada platform. The study was a quantitative study with an online questionnaire. Structural Equation Modelling analyzed 200 respondents data, and the result shows that computer self-efficacy indirectly affects behavioral intention to use through perceived ease of use. Perceived usefulness and attitude towards use are not significant mediators because of their insignificance
on their intention. Computer self-efficacy significantly impacts behavioral intention mediated by perceived ease of use, but not by perceived usefulness
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
