Alternative versus conventional attitudes in higher agricultural education
From radical positions it is argued that it will take paradigmatic transformations to develop a sustainable agriculture and that values and attitudes have to be changed. To find out if teachers and students in higher agricultural education are motivated for radical changes a survey based on the Alternative-Conventional Agriculture Paradigm Scale (ACAP-scale) was conducted. The ACAP-scale shows how people relate to the alternative and conventional agricultural paradigm and it shows their overall understanding of how agriculture works and relates to the physical and social environment. This study showed that the ACAP-scale is a suitable method for quantitative assessment of attitudes to agriculture in a broader context. Among students and faculty members at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, Denmark there exists significant differences in paradigmatic positions. Students’ course choices are, to some extent, influenced by their paradigmatic position, some courses enrol followers of either the alternative or the conventional agricultural paradigm, and females and older students hold more alternative views than males and younger students. It is concluded that the wide range of values and attitudes among students and teachers calls for new teaching methods, where values and attitudes are integrated. It cannot be taken for granted that teachers and students share the radical visions of sustainability as sometimes presupposed of bodies working for sustainable development
Reservoir Considerations for Carbon-Dioxide Plume Geothermal in Depleted Gas Reservoirs
Carbon dioxide (CO2) capture and sequestration (CCS) can play a significant role in reducing anthropogenic CO2 emissions while allowing society to slowly phase out traditional energy sources. One of the main challenge in CCS is the current absence of a clear revenue model. One idea is to use the sequestered supercritical CO2 as a working fluid for geothermal energy extraction from sedimentary reservoirs (Carbon-dioxide Plume Geothermal or CPG). Due to the large variability in density and mobility of CO2 under different temperatures, reservoir heterogeneities can give a rise to a combination of convective and conductive heat transfer. In this work, qualitative and quantitative descriptionsof the effect of reservoir properties on the performance of CPG in depletedgas fields are provided using an example realistic depleted gas field. The primary focus is on the behaviour of the CO2 plume with regards to different reservoir properties such as porosity, permeability and thermal properties. The effect of large-scale reservoir structure, such as a presence of an aquifer, net-to-gross ratio and layering is also studied. In order to accurately model these effects, a thermal multi-component multiphase model based on a fugacity-activity Equation of State is built and validated for for pressures from 50-400 bar and temperatures from 35°C to 130°C. The developed thermodynamic modelis implemented into the Delft Advanced Research Terra Simulator. Numerous studies of 2D and 3D ensembles and sensitivity studies are carried out to examine the effects of isolated parameters on CPG performance. Results reveal that increased net-to-gross (N/G) ratio is associated with increased recovery factor. In addition, layering architecture becomes an important factor for the importance of conductive flux only at low N/G. Variations in the required pressure to sustain a production rate is associated with fluctuationsin production temperature and density due to expansive cooling. Varying reservoir properties and state also have a significant effect on brine upconing, which is detrimental to CPG performance. It appears that an increase in injection rate have a positive effect on the performance of CPG, but this should be studied in conjunction with a coupled wellbore and power plant model. Heterogeneous porosity-permeability realizations show a strong decrease in reservoir lifetime compared to their upscaled homogeneous counterparts, which is caused by a combination of preferential flow, reduced conductive flux and lower production BHP associated with the upscaled realizations. It was also found that reducing production rate delays the time of thermal breakthrough due to the combined effect of these factors.Petroleum Engineering and Geo-science

Half a Century of Croatian Politics (1895-1945) in the correspondence between Dominic Mandic and Jere Jareb
Preparing the publication of Jareb's book titled Half a Century of Croatian Politics (1895-1945) - on the Occasion of Macek's autobiography, which was based on the synthesis and the elaboration of the same work published in three parts in Hrvatska revija (Croatian Review), the author, as he emphasized in the book's preface, trying to depict this turbulent period of Croatian history as objectively as possible, asked several people for a more critical opinion, among whom the historian Fr. Dominik Mandic. There were four letters in the saved correspondence, which testified about the polemics between the two historians, especially regarding the Yugoslav national and state idea, and the position of the Catholic Movement and the Croatian People's Party on this issue. Although Mandic's critical review appeared with a relatively satisfactory time distance when it comes to a historical analysis of disputable issues, especially given the HPS situation, which disappeared from the political scene in 1929, or the beginning of the Croatian Catholic Movement. However, it can be concluded from Jareb's presented counterarguments that he recognized in Mandic's review a dose of non-objectivism when it comes to defending former political orientations
SOME FORMS OF REPRESSION OF CATHOLIC CHURCH IN HERZEGOVINA RIGHT AFTER THE SECOND WORLD WAR
U članku je prikazan položaj Katoličke crkve u Hercegovini u razdoblju
nakon Drugoga svjetskog rata do 60-ih godina prošloga stoljeća. Autorica
najprije govori o općem stanju u kojem se našla Katolička crkva u
spomenutome razdoblju te prati faze i represivne mjere koje je komunistička
vlast sukladno svojoj ideologiji poduzimala prema ovoj vjerskoj
zajednici oduzimanjem materijalnih dobara, ukidanjem vjerskih škola
i vjeronaučne pouke te zakonima o braku i matičnim knjigama, čime
su Crkvi ne samo oduzete matične knjige nego joj je uskraćeno i pravo
izdavanja javnih isprava. The paper gives an overview of the Catholic Church position in Herzegovina
in the period after the Second World War till 1960s. The author
speaks about the general state of the Catholic Church in the mentioned
period. She also follows phases and repressive measures undertaken by
the communist authorities in accordance to their ideology. They were
taking over their material properties, abolishing religious schools, religious
instructions, laws on marriage and register books, what denied the
right of Church to issue public identification papers

We are mock'd with art: theatricalizing devices in performances of Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale
Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras/Inglês e Literatura Correspondente, Florianópolis, 2011This dissertation discusses the use of theatricalizing devices in four stage productions of William Shakespeare's The Winter's Tale. The selected performances were staged by the Royal Shakespeare Company (England, 1992), Théâtre de la Complicité (England, 1992), Folger Theatre (United States, 2009), and Companhia Atores de Laura (Brazil, 2004-2005). The discussion is structured following the notion of "performance text", proposed by Marco de Marinis (1993), which testifies to the importance of analyzing a performance in terms of its stage elements and also its contextual circumstances. Hence, the notion of "theatricalizing devices" is proposed in the present study as a tool to look at those devices employed on stage that can, simultaneously, comment on the theatrical medium and its conventions and help a production address themes and concerns related to the world outside the theater building. Additionally, the referred devices have to do with further fictionalizing the already fictional stage reality, without losing sight of the fact that those making and attending any given performance are inserted in an outside context.
The Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law Learning Environment: Spring 2017 Evaluation Report
abstract: This is an evaluation of the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law learning environment project which involved 120 participants (32 faculty and 88 students). In 2016, the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law moved their main building to the newly built Beus Center for Law and Society building at the downtown Phoenix campus in order to bring the law students and faculty closer to the legal community that is present in downtown Phoenix. Prior to this move surveys regarding the Tempe campus were administered to the law students and faculty along with classroom observations and focus groups in order to conduct an evaluation of the environment. This evaluation examines the following six areas about the Tempe campus: the physical classroom environment; the instructional strategies used by instructors in the classroom; technology utilized in the classroom; frequency of technical difficulties by the instructor; and interactions between faculty, students, and the legal community. This evaluation only analyzed the quantitative data that was provided from the survey questions and not the qualitative data from classroom observations and focus groups. Within this evaluation is an explanation of the project that was conducted in part with the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law and an overview of the participants involved in this evaluation. Additionally, this report will describe the methodology that was used to conduct the evaluation. Lastly, this evaluation includes the findings based off of the survey given to the evaluation participants and the recommendation for the new Beus Center for Law and Society based on the findings of the evaluation
