No full textThe article deals with the style and language of Janina Ipohorska, who was the author of Jan Kamyczek’s Demokratyczny savoir‑vivre [Democratic savoir‑vivre] – advice column printed in „Przekrόj” magazine in the second half of the 20th century. An analysis of a selection of Jan Kamyczek’s advice from the 1960 issues
enabled recognition of the idiolectic features of Ipohorska’s language and identifying her distinctive style. The study also aimed at capturing the specificity of Jan Kamyczek’s advice on courtesy appropriate for various social occasions, showing the ingenuity of replies to letters from the readers, and sketching the
author of the column’s approach to etiquette. The article is, in a way, a reminder of the journalistic phenomenon and an attempt at bringing forth Janina Ipohorska’s personality through her individual language and style emerging from Demokratyczny savoir‑vivre

Biorąc pod uwagę idealistyczne założenia kosmopolityzmu i jego późniejsza „degeneracje” w kierunku kolonialistycznego spojrzenia na „innych”, autorka szczegółowo analizuje film Biały Kieślowskiego, który ujawnia wewnętrzne sprzeczności i niejasności w idealistycznym podejściu do idei kosmopolityzmu i równości.In the article “Cosmopolitanism, migration in view of Krzysztof Kieslowski’s idealism” Janina Falkowska explores the idea of cosmopolitanism in the context of Krzysztof Kieslowski’s last films. She takes into consideration the idealistic tradition of cosmopolitanism and its later “degeneration” in the direction of the colonialist perspective; the author analyzes the film Bialy (White) which reveals internal contradictions and ambiguities in its idealistic approach to the ideas of cosmopolitanism and equality
Poetess and the Lord of the Darkness Relationship of Janina Brzostowska with Witkacy based on source material
No full textThe article is about Janina Brzostowska (born in Wadowice in 1897) and her relationship with the artist Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz called Witkacy. I started from Witkacy’s cooperation with artistic group „Czartak”. Then I described the meeting Janina Brzostowska, who was the member of the „Czartak” group, with Witkacy in his mother’s house in Zakopane. A lot of memories were sent to me by Janina’s Brzostowska’s son who lives in the USA – Witold Brostow. My article touches period of time when Janina lived in Warsaw and worked in „Skawa” magazine (1938-1939). Witkacy wrote four articles to this magazine at that time, which means they had closer cooperation. There are three portrets of Brzostowska painted by Witkacy (one from 1929 and two from 1939). Witkacy’s paintings contains special markups, which indicates what substances author was under influence of, when working on them, for example: cofeine, alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. Actually, these paintings are in Texas – in Witold Brostow’s house. Janina Brzostowska belived that Witkacy was a very inteligent and individualistic person. She appreciated him as an artist and she understood his approach to art. At the end I quoted the poem „The Lord of the Darkness” which Brzostowska wrote in memory of Witkacy in 1945

Artystyczna działalność autorki między innymi takich utworów, jak Moje życie barbarzyńcy, Pucka, Opowieści dla Abrama, Powrót do jabłek, oraz tłumaczki literatury polskiej na język duński stanowi obszar odzwierciedlający w szczególnie interesujący sposób problematykę granic języka, granicznych doświadczeń pisarki, a także jej transgranicznej czy też pogranicznej europejskiej biografii. W analizie twórczości Katz na uwagę zasługuje powiązanie problemu granic wypowiadalności losu żydowskiego everymana (na podstawie znanych scenariuszy ocaleń od Zagłady) z narracją o traumatogennych międzypokoleniowych relacjach rozpatrywanych w perspektywie postpamięci. Towarzyszą temu także interesujące opowieści o rzeczach, przedmiotach, pamiątkach rodzinnych, fotografiach, będące niejako ukrytą wersją niewyrażalnej biografii pisarki.The object of my analysis is regarding the poetic, prose and translation works of Janina Katz. Artistic activity of the author of such works as Pucka, Opowieści dla Abrama (Stories for Abram), Powrót do jabłek (Return to Apples), and translator of Polish literature into Danish, presents in a particularly interesting way issues of border of the tongue, border experience, as well as cross-border or uniquely frontier European biography of Janina Katz

No full textIn his seminal essay ‘Public Spaces, Collective Spaces,’ which was published in 1992, Spanish architect and critic Manuel de Solà-Morales suggested that the civic, architectural, urban and morphological richness of contemporary cities resides in their collective spaces that are not strictly public or private, but both simultaneously.1 De Solà-Morales described these places as ‘the ambiguous spaces where the public form of our cities is played’ and encouraged architects to resist ceding the battle over the design of shopping malls, vacation centres, parking lots and cinema complexes to commercial logic and developer standards. De Solà-Morales argued that these spaces warrant architects’ attention, even if only for their ubiquity, volume and massive use, as he pleaded for a shift – both in terms of design and research – away from the standard, safe ‘subsidized urbanity’ to more slippery, less evident and (arguably) more interesting areas.ArchitectureArchitecture and The Built Environmen

No full textNiniejszy artykuł został oparty na pracy magisterskiej M. Pacholarz (2014).The aim of this article is to present the history of publishing works of Janina Porazińska and answer the question of whether Porazińska is still a popular writer or already forgotten one. The first part introduces the charac-ter of the artist and outlines the development of her literary workshop. More-over, it presents the current state of research on the person and work of Pora-zińska. The second part contains a discussion on the history of publishing works of the writer; presents statistical data relating to new titles and their next re-leases, supplemented with a bibliological comment. The article includes an at-tempt of the periodization of the popularity of writer’s books. It also discusses the publishing institutions and illustrators involved in work with Porazińska’s books. The author portrays the literary phenomenon of the writer whose books have been on the publishing market for 103 years now.Celem niniejszego artykułu jest zaprezentowanie edytorskich losów książek Janiny Porazińskiej na rynku wydawniczym i dzięki temu udzielenie od-powiedzi na pytanie, czy Porazińska jest pisarką jeszcze popularną czy już za-pomnianą. Część pierwsza artykułu przybliża postać artystki oraz nakreśla roz-wój jej warsztatu literackiego na przestrzeni całego życia. Ponadto, zarysowuje dotychczasowy stan badań dotyczący osoby i twórczości Porazińskiej. Część druga zawiera omówienie dziejów wydawniczych książek pisarki; prezentuje sta-tystyczne dane dotyczące nowych tytułów i ich kolejnych wydań, opatrzone bbliologicznym komentarzem, jak również zawiera próbę periodyzacji popular-ności twórczości autorki Szewczyka Dratewki. Ponadto, omawia kwestie insty-tucji wydawniczych i ilustratorów zaangażowanych w pracę nad książkami Po-razińskiej.
