Correlation between species composition and soil properties in the pastures of Plana de Vic (Catalonia, Spain)
The correlation between the species composition of pasture communities and soil properties in Plana de Vic has been studied using two multivariate methods, Correspondence Analysis (CA) for the vegetation data and Principal Component Analysis (PCA) for the soil data. To analyse the pastures, we took 144 vegetation relevés (comprising 201 species) that have been classified into 10 phytocoenological communities elsewhere. Most of these communities are almost entirely built up by perennials, ranging from xerophilous, clearly Mediterranean, to mesophilous, related to medium-European pastures, but a few occurring in shallow soils are dominated by therophytes. As for the soil properties, we analysed texture, pH, depth, bulk density, organic matter, C/N ratio and the carbonates content of 25 samples, corresponding
to representative relevés of the communities studied

The nature and the extent of technological change are analysed from a comparative
Spanish and European view, establishing the interrelationships between its components
and its final effects. The relationship between technological change and the industrial
organisation is studied from the permeability of the factory system to small and medium
size firms. This fact made possible the development of a flexible industrial structure
which was shaped in the making of a capable wooUen textile district in the Valles, and
finally strengthened the competitive advantages of those firms in relation to the pioneer
big firms. Last, induced changes on the labour force structure are considered.Publicad
Enabling lighter and faster simulations with repeated matrix blocks
When pushing towards lighter and faster Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations, the contribution and construction of every component should be considered. The sparse matrix-vector product (SpMV) is the most expensive kernel among all operations. In some situations, e.g, with spatial reflection symmetries, the sparse matrices have some repeated blocks that could be exploited for better performance. By transferring the repeated blocks only once, the amount of data to transfer is reduced, and thus, the memory footprint of the simulation will be reduced. Moreover, with this framework, the SpMV is transformed into a sparse matrix-matrix product (SpMM), reducing the memory footprint and speeding-up the simulation. The method is tested in a differentially heated cavity in order to test the performance gains with the use of the SpMM compared to the use of a SpMV.The work presented in this abstract is supported by the Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad, SIMEX project (PID2022-142174OB-I00). The dataset associated with the study ""Grain Boundaries and the Photoresponse of Epitaxial LaFeO3 films"" show that grain boundary engineering in narrow band-gap oxide thin films is a suited strategy to enhance their photoresponse.
Motivation
Centrosymmetric LaFeO3 (LFO) shows photovoltaic effect when sandwiched between asymmetric electrodes, which stems from the built-in potential induced by the different work functions of the top and bottom electrodes, interfacial polar discontinuity or even flexoelectric fields. However, the complex microstructure of epitaxial LFO film contributes to its photoresponse differently depending on the crystallographic domain landscape and the nature of the grain boundaries originating between them.
Dataset Content and Structure
The dataset includes the following categories of data:
Photoresponse measurements – J/V curves.
High resolution HAADF-STEM images.
4D-STEM for the study of the cristallographic domains within the thin films.
EELS measurements.
AFM images.
XRD measurements - Reciprocal Space Maps.Raw data for all FiguresN
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
