Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. Évaluation d'une formation initiale interprofessionnelle des internes de MG et étudiants en PO visant à développer leur compétence de collaboration : Effets sur la satisfaction, la motivation à modifier ses pratiques et le transfert des apprentissages
International audienceCONTEXTELes collaborations interprofessionnelles sont au cœur des soins de premier recours. La formation interprofessionnelle en santé a pour but d’amener les étudiants à développer cette pratique collaborative. A l’Université Clermont Auvergne (UCA), la formation interprofessionnelle en santé existe depuis 2008. Depuis 2022, les internes en médecine générale (MG) et les étudiants en pharmacie d’officine (PO) en dernière année participent à 2 journées au cours desquelles ils sont amenés à développer leur compétence de collaboration interprofessionnelle dans plusieurs dimensions.OBJECTIF(S) / QUESTION(S)Évaluer la satisfaction, la motivation à modifier ses pratiques et le transfert des apprentissages des internes de médecine générale et des étudiants en pharmacie d’officine en dernière année à l’UCA ayant suivi une formation initiale interprofessionnelle hors stage.MÉTHODEUn recueil mixte a été réalisé. Un questionnaire évaluait la satisfaction des apprenants. Des entretiens semi-dirigés exploraient la motivation à modifier ses pratiques, la transférabilité des apprentissages, le vécu et le ressenti des étudiants ainsi que leur satisfaction globale. Un focus group avec l'équipe enseignante explorait leurs réactions aux premier résultats issus des recueils auprès des étudiants, et les pistes d'amélioration. L’analyse quantitative a consisté en une description des réponses. L'analyse thématique a été menée sur les 2 questions ouvertes. L’analyse qualitative s’est inspirée de la théorisation ancrée : analyses ouverte, axiale puis intégrative.RÉSULTATSLa satisfaction des participants était bonne sur le contenu et l’animation. Certains éléments pouvant être clarifiés ont été soulevés. L’analyse qualitative a mis en évidence les représentations des apprenants. Elle a aussi permis de relever les déterminants à la mise en place de l’interprofessionnalité et les effets positifs del’apprentissage expérientiel dans ce domaine. Les effets perçus par les apprenants de l’interprofessionnalité sur les patients, les professionnels et sur eux-mêmes ont aussi été analysés.DISCUSSION (Limites, forces et perspectives)L'analyse qualitative a été la plus informative, permettant d'évaluer en profondeur les représentations des apprenants et leur évolution. La formation interprofessionnelle proposée a été appréciée des étudiants et a eu un effet positif sur leur motivation à développer les collaborations interprofessionnelles dans leur pratique clinique. Afin de renforcer sa dimension expérientielle et de favoriser le transfert des apprentissages, des modalités de formation complémentaires en stage sont à développer
Stratégie d'accompagnement des internes en difficulté : étude qualitative auprès des tuteurs du département de médecine générale de Clermont-Ferrand
CONTEXTE Les internes de médecine générale rencontrent différents types de difficultés et sont particulièrement exposés aux risques psycho-sociaux. Les tuteurs sont les référents pédagogiques les plus proches des internes. OBJECTIF Analyser les stratégies et les attentes des tuteurs face aux internes en difficulté.MÉTHODE Étude qualitative par 7 entretiens semi-dirigés et 2 focus group auprès des tuteurs du Département de médecine générale de Clermont-Ferrand. Après retranscription intégrale, les verbatims ont été analysé selon une méthode dérivée de la théorisation ancrée : codage longitudinal, analyse thématique puis catégorisation, codage axial, intégration. Triangulation des chercheurs et validation des résultats par les participants.RÉSULTATS Les tuteurs avaient une stratégie d'accompagnement en 3 étapes.La première étape était le repérage des difficultés à partir des groupes d’échanges de pratique, des entretiens de tutorat, des traces écrites d’apprentissage, et des évaluations de stage. Des signes d’alerte permettaient aux tuteurs de dépister l’interne en difficulté.La deuxième étape était l'exploration par des échanges entre le tuteur et l'étudiant d’une part, et/ou avec les encadrants en stage ou d’autres tuteurs d’autre part. La troisième étape était la recherche de solutions en faisant appel de façon graduelle aux ressources personnelles de l'interne et du tuteur, puis à des ressources externes (pairs de l’interne, autre tuteur, DMG, Université, soignants). CONCLUSION Les entretiens ont permis d’aboutir à un schéma intégratif modélisant les stratégies des tuteurs pour accompagner un interne en difficulté. Ce schéma pourra servir d’outil pour aider d’autres tuteurs

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
