Relationships between anthropometric characteristics, block settings, and block clearance technique during the sprint start
No full textThis study aimed to identify how body dimensions interact with anteroposterior block distances to influence lower limb joint angles in the "set" position, how these angles relate to block clearance kinetic and kinematic parameters, and how these biomechanical parameters influence sprint start performance in sprinters of both sexes and of different ability levels. Seventy-eight sprinters performed six maximal-effort 10 m sprints. Joint angles in the "set" position were quantified through 2D video analysis, and the forces generated during block exit were measured by dynamometric starting blocks. Lower limb length was associated with the front block-starting line distance ([FB/SL], partial correlation [rPC] = 0.48) and was a significant predictor of FB/SL (R2 = 0.39). The FB/SL was associated with front hip angle (rPC = 0.38), which was consequently associated with numerous kinetic variables during block clearance (rPC from -0.41 to -0.61). Coaches should be encouraged to explore the interactions between individual lower limb lengths and the FB/SL distance in both male and female sprinters to manipulate the front hip angle in the "set" position in an attempt to achieve more favourable block clearance kinetics
Genome size variation in guayule and mariola: fundamental descriptors for polyploid plant taxa

https://doi.org/10.1016/j.indcrop.2013.12.052Guayule (Parthenium argentatum A. Gray) has tremendous potential as a domestic source of natural rubber production in the southwestern United States. However, genetic improvement of guayule has been slowed by its complex mode of reproduction, natural ploidy series, and lack of genetic and genomic resources. The interspecific hybridization of guayule with its closest sister taxon mariola (P. incanum Kunth) offers an opportunity to access novel genetic variation for guayule breeding programs, but mariola accessions available from the U.S. National Plant Germplasm System (NPGS) have never been evaluated for natural variation in ploidy level. In addition, the nuclear genome sizes for guayule and mariola at any ploidy level are unknown. To that end, we examined the ploidy of 10 mariola accessions, which revealed a natural polyploid series ranging from triploid (2n = 3x = 54) to pentaploid (2n = 5x = 90). In contrast, a ploidy analysis of five guayule accessions uncovered a natural polyploid series that ranged from diploid (2n = 2x = 36) to hexaploid (2n = 6x = 108). More than one ploidy level among individual plants (mixed ploidy) and instances of aneuploid plants were observed for accessions of both guayule and mariola. The nuclear genome sizes of guayule and mariola were similar at identical ploidy levels, and the genome size of diploid guayule (1624 Mb) was almost twofold smaller than the genomes of sunflower (H. annuus L. 2n = 2x = 34) and lettuce (L. sativa L.; 2n = 2x = 18), two other Compositae (Asteraceae) species that are being genome-sequenced. The article reminds his role as a personage for years creating Ukrainian culture and supporting young filmmakers. The author focuses on Mashchenko’s leading role as a national artist of Ukraine with regard to his participation in different activities, aiming to constitute Ukrainian national culture, including Ukrainian national cinema. Therefore, especially important were Mashchenko’s links with the szetidiesiatniki movement and Ukrainian poetic cinema of the 60s., because in Soviet Ukraine it was one of the most efficient artistic manifestations of national identity. Abstract
For aim of this paper and analysis of the treatment methods in question articles from Pumbed basis were used. Pumbed basis, which works under the auspices of US National Library of Medicine and National Institute of Health, helped to analyze the treatment methods for chronic condition of heel spur and plantar fascia. The analytical process was based on bibliographical descript. Results of 1204 numbers were summarized because of specialist criterion.
Heel spurs are bony growths growing out of the plantar fascia and other soft tissues lining nearby which conduct to the plantar fascia ignition. The occurrence of these is connected with burdensome feeling of pain that can be felt when making first steps after getting up in the morning. It is a serious condition that applies to more and more people. Being overweight, training sports straining feet are the reasons contributing to this condition. Yet, it is not a general rule for the risk group. Treating methods in this sphere give many opportunities for physical therapist and doctors. The best sustainable method is physical therapy supported by medical aids. However, not every case gives intended results. If the sustainable methods are not enough, the surgical treatment should be introduced. There is no doubt that any method of treatment is individually reclaimed by every patient.

Reading culture of the 5th grade students from Łódź primary schools
No full textW artykule zaprezentowano i omówiono wyniki badań autorki przeprowadzonych w roku szk. 2012/13, dotyczące kultury czytelniczej piątoklasistów szkół łódzkich. Poddani badaniom ankietowym uczniowie wypowiadali się m.in. na temat: swojego stosunku do czytania, zainteresowań czytelniczych, księgozbiorów domowych, ale również udziału rodziców i innych osób w kształtowaniu ich kultury czytelniczej. Te same pytania, w nieco zmienionej formie, zostały zadane dzieciom i ich rodzicom.
Celem przedsięwzięcia było poznanie i opisanie kultury czytelniczej wybranej grupy wiekowej nastolatków, porównanie deklaracji uczniów z wiedzą rodziców na temat kultury czytelniczej potomstwa oraz ocena skali zarejestrowanych różnic. Wyniki zostały porównane z analogicznymi, przeprowadzonymi w roku szk. 2011/12 na mniejszej próbie badawczej.The survey aimed at description and verification of the reading culture of the group of teenagers (11 and 12 years old Łódź inhabitants), including evaluation of its scale, and comparison of opinions expressed by the youth and their parents. No full textIn the age of globalisation the changes of social life are characterised by a dynamic aspiration for democracy understood as a political system enabling individual citizens and all societies to participate in creating and respecting the common good. On the other hand they are characterised by a deep anthropological crisis. This crisis leads to a rapid people migration. Such migration change culture of the societies involved. Facing these facts we should ask a question about directions of upbringing and education which prepares young generations to live an active and responsible life in society. The author of this article presents experience of the Focolare Movement concerning its involvement in common good in the diverse cultural environments of different parts of the world. The crucial in this experience is the role of community either in forming prosocial attitude or in acting. On the basis of this experience the Movement of has developed a pedagogy of unity which is standing on the ground of relational and transcendental dimension of a human being and of the value of community as an upbringing environment. This pedagogy as well as prosocial activities of the Movement promotes the culture of relationship which underlines pedagogical value of dialogue, mutual respect and transcending ourselves in search to find good, truth and beauty in each human being. Pedagogy of unity as well as the experience of the Movement can be a valuable source of inspiration not only for Polish pedagogy but also for each personalistically oriented style of upbringing.

Przemiany życia społecznego epoki globalizacyjnej charakteryzuje z jednej strony dynamiczne dążenie do demokracji, którą postrzega się jako system polityczny umożliwiający aktywne uczestnictwo poszczególnych obywateli i całych społeczeństw w tworzeniu i poszanowaniu dobra wspólnego, a z drugiej – głęboki kryzys antropologiczny, który prowadzi do gwałtownych migracji ludów, co przemienia kulturowo całe społeczeństwa. Wobec takiej rzeczywistości istotnym jawi się pytanie o kierunek wychowania przygotowującego do aktywnego i odpowiedzialnego życia w społeczeństwie. Autorka prezentuje doświadczenie Ruchu Focolari dotyczące jego zaangażowania na rzecz dobra wspólnego w różnych kręgach kulturowych na całym świecie. Kluczowa w tym doświadczeniu jest rola wspólnoty zarówno w działaniu, jak i formowaniu prospołecznych postaw u młodych pokoleń. W wypracowanej w Ruchu, na fundamencie tego doświadczenia, pedagogii jedności, podkreśla się relacyjny i transcendentny wymiar osoby ludzkiej oraz wartość wspólnoty jako środowiska wychowawczego. Promowana przez tę pedagogię oraz działania prospołeczne Ruchu „kultura relacji” wydobywa wychowawczą wartość dialogu, wzajemnego szacunku oraz transcendowania siebie w wysiłku poszukiwania dobra, prawdy i piękna w każdym człowieku. Students’ attitude towards taking up physical activities apart from university classes
Streszczenie
Celem badania było odpowiedź na pytania: Od jakich czynników zależy podejmowanie aktywności fizycznej przez studentów poza uczelnia? Od czego zależy długość trwania ćwiczeń i w jakim okresie studiów jest on największy? Zbadano 301 studentów używając autorski kwestionariusz. Analiza polegała na wykonaniu statystyk opisowych oraz analizy wariancji ANOVA. Analiza wykazała zależność istotnie statystyczną pomiędzy płcią a podejmowaniem aktywności fizycznej. Mężczyźni częściej ćwiczą. Brak jest zależności pomiędzy częstością uprawiania sportu a płcią.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to answer the following questions: What are the reasons that determine the physical activity of students outside of their university? What determines the duration of exercises and during what year the students exercise the most ? 301 students were tested using an original questionnaire. The analysis consisted of descriptive statistics and performed analysis ANOVA. Analysis showed a significant relationship between sex and physical activity. Men are more likely to exercise. However, there is no relationship between the frequency of physical activity and gender.

Streszczenie
Celem badania było określenie związków między podejmowaniem pracy zawodowej a poziomem aktywności fizycznej wśród studentów uczelni wyższych. Zbadano 245 osób za pomocą autorskiej ankiety oraz kwestionariusza aktywności fizycznej SEWL. Analiza statystyczna polegała na wykonaniu statystyk opisowych. Porównań dokonano za pomocą analizy wariancji ANOVA. Kobiety częściej podejmują pracę zawodową podczas studiów. Przeważająca część studentów deklaruje podejmowanie aktywności fizycznej, jednakże mężczyźni częściej zajmowali się sportem na profesjonalnym poziomie.

Abstract
The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between the taking of work and the level of physical activity among college students. 245 students were tested using an original questionnaire and SEWL questionnaire. The analysis consisted of descriptive statistics and performed analysis ANOVA. Women are more likely to work during study. The majority of students declare physical activity, but men often participate in the sport at a professional level.

No full textThe main subject of the article is the relationship between the creative method of Roman Polanski and Alfred Hitchcock and the attitude of the Polish director to genre cinema. The author of the text, critically analyzing the earlier diagnoses of Polish monographers of Polanski’s work (Grażyna Stachówna, Mariola Dopartowa), prove that these problems are difficult to reduce to the MacGuffin issue today, because they “loop” at many levels and in various interpretative concepts, consistently eluding easy generalizations.The main subject of the article is the relationship between the creative method of Roman Polanski and Alfred Hitchcock and the attitude of the Polish director to genre cinema.
