Activation of Grm1 expression by inducible mutated B-RAF in vitro and in vivo
No full textMelanoma is a form of skin cancer that arises from the neoplastic transformation of melanocytes. Constitutive activation of the MAPK pathway due to mutations in the serine-threonine protein kinase B-RAF or N-RAS has been reported to play important roles in melanomagenesis. Previously, our laboratory identified that ectopic expression of metabotropic glutamate receptor 1 (Grm1) in melanocytes was sufficient to induce spontaneous melanoma development in transgenic mouse models (TG-3 and EPv). We also demonstrated that Grm1 expression activates the MAPK pathway. Recently, we detected Grm1 expression by immunohistochemical staining of tumors derived from transgenic mice harboring a B-RAF (V600E) mutation on PTEN null background. Similarly, Grm1 expression was also detected in tumor samples derived from transgenic mice with an N-RAS (Q61R) mutation on INK4a null background. In addition, several stable immortalized mouse melanocytic clones with exogenous mutant B-RAF (V600E) cDNA showed Grm1 expression in vitro. Since normal mouse melanocytes acquire loss of p16INK4a in order to become immortalized, we investigate whether loss of PTEN or INK4a/ARF was required for Grm1 expression by mutated B-RAF (V600E). We made use of a transgenic mouse model (BJB), which has an inducible B-RAF (V600E) genotype only in melanocytes. Here we show that induction of B-RAF (V600E) stimulates skin hyperpigmentation, presumably from increased proliferation of melanocytes. Results showed detectable Grm1 expression in BJB skin samples, suggesting that the induction of mutated B-RAF (V600E) may be sufficient to promote activation of Grm1 expression, and that ablation of PTEN expression/function but not of INK4a may be required.M.S.Includes bibliographical referencesby Jairo L. No full textA partir del libro publicado por la ESAP en el año 2007 titulado “LA CORTE PENAL INTERNACIONAL” autor JOHN JAIRO MORALES ALZATE, más allá de su actualización, se busca la elaboración de un Manual de Derecho Penal Internacional, que bajo esquemas de mapas conceptuales, gráficas y otras ayudas didácticas, dote tanto a estudiosos como operadores judiciales, de conocimientos profundos y detallados sobre los fundamentos y antecedentes del Derecho Penal Internacional, la conformación de los Tribunales Penales Internacionales Ad – hoc, es decir, del Tribunal Penal Internacional para Yugoslavia - TPIY- y del Tribunal Penal Internacional para Ruanda, TPIR, y la Corte Penal Internacional; así como los elementos en torno a la construcción de una teoría del delito que permita la comprensión de estos tribunales en cuanto a los esquemas de atribución de responsabilidad penal internacional a partir de sus elementos objetivos o externos y subjetivos e internos. También contendrá un análisis de las principales decisiones de estos tribunales en cuanto al elemento de responsabilidad penal individual en autoría directa, couatoria (joint criminal interprise en el modelo del TPIY y el esquema diferenciado de la CPI); autoría mediata, y participación en determinación, encubrimiento, complicidad, colaboración y el nuevo amplificado del Estatuto de Roma sobre Contribución conjunta. También contendrá modelos relacionado con los esquemas de análisis de la Oficina del Fiscal de la CPI, sobre test de admisibilidad y de la Sala de Cuestiones Preliminares sobre complementariedad. Política criminal y hacinamiento carcelario: aproximaciones desde la teoría de la sociedad del riesgo de Ulrich Beck

en Colombia, es precisamente el alto porcentaje de hacinamiento que hay en las
cárceles. Esto debido al gran aumento de la criminalidad de personas adultas, las
políticas punitivas del Estado y la falta de profundización en medidas alternativas a la
privación de libertad. En este sentido, el presente artículo indaga estas situaciones
analizándolas desde la teoría de la sociedad del riesgo de Ulrich Beck. Al respecto, el
autor alemán señala que constantemente emergen conductas que generan riesgo y
obligan a la modificación de los sistemas jurídicos, entre los cuales se encuentra el

Rent-sharing, hold-up, and manufacturing wages in Cote d'Ivoire
Get PDFLabor costs in Francophone Africa are considered high by the standards of low-income countries, at least in the formal sector. Are they a brake on industrialization, or the result of successful enterprise development? Are they imposed on firms by powerful unions, or government regulations, or a by-product of good firm performance? The authors empirically analyze what determines manufacturing wages in Cote d'Ivoire, using an unbalanced panel of individual wages that allows them to control for observable firm-specific effects. They test the rent-sharing, and hold-up theories of wage determination, as well as some aspects of efficiency-wage theories. Deep spectroscopic luminosity function of Abell 85 : no evidence for a steep upturn of the faint-end slope
Get PDFIA, AD and ALS acknowledge partial support from the INFN grant InDark and from the grant Progetti di Ateneo TO Call 2012 0011 ‘Marco Polo’ of the University of Torino.We present a new deep determination of the spectroscopic luminosity function (LF) within the virial radius of the nearby and massive Abell 85 (A85) cluster down to the dwarf regime (M* + 6) using Very Large Telescope/Visible Multi-Object Spectrograph (VLT/VIMOS) spectra for ∼2000 galaxies with mr ≤ 21 mag and 〈μe,r〉 ≤ 24 mag arcsec−2. The resulting LF from 438 cluster members is best modelled by a double Schechter function due to the presence of a statistically significant upturn at the faint end. The amplitude of this upturn (αf ~ -1.58+0.19-0.15), however, is much smaller than that of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) composite photometric cluster LF by Popesso et al., αf ∼ −2. The faint-end slope of the LF in A85 is consistent, within the uncertainties, with that of the field. The red galaxy population dominates the LF at low luminosities, and is the main factor responsible for the upturn. The fact that the slopes of the spectroscopic LFs in the field and in a cluster as massive as A85 are similar suggests that the cluster environment does not play a major role in determining the abundance of low-mass galaxies.Peer reviewe

No full textDigitalLos innumerables retos en los que se encuentran las organizaciones suponen una gran dificultad para lograr ser auto sostenibles en el tiempo. Por ende, es fundamental analizar las variables que establezcan relación de causalidad, que puedan afectar a la salud mental de los trabajadores y, por tanto, la dificultad de las compañías en alcanzar los altos niveles competitivos requeridos en un mundo globalizado.
Entre innumerables variables que afectan a la salud mental de los trabajadores y a las organizaciones, se determinó realizar el análisis de los factores de riesgos psicosociales a los que pueden estar expuestos los trabajadores del Restaurante AUTOR. Asimismo, el análisis se centrará fundamentalmente en los componentes intralaborales, extralaborales y de condiciones de estrés, mediante la aplicación de distintas pruebas que permitirán obtener resultados cuantitativos a fin de establecer el grado de afectación que puedan tener en su salud mental y que pueden dificultar el cumplimiento de los objetivos organizacionales.
Finalmente, fue posible determinar resultados en el análisis de factores de riesgo psicosociales tales como: carga y ritmo del trabajo, relaciones interpersonales, estrés laboral, participación y control, relaciones interpersonales, características de vivienda y entorno, desplazamiento a vivienda y viceversa, situación económica y relaciones familiares, entre otras.1. Therefore, it is essential to analyze the variables that establish a causal relationship, which may affect the mental health of workers and, therefore, the difficulty of companies in achieving the high competitive levels required in a globalized world.
Among countless variables that affect the mental health of workers and organizations, it was determined to carry out an analysis of the psychosocial risk factors to which workers at the AUTOR Restaurant may be exposed. Likewise, the analysis will fundamentally focus on the intra-work, non-work and stress conditions components, through the application of different tests that will allow quantitative results to be obtained in order to establish the degree of impact that they may have on their mental health and that may make it difficult to compliance with organizational objectives.

An Assessment of How Urban Crime and Victimization Affects Life Satisfaction
Get PDFWe assess the effect of the homicide rate, individual´s perception of security in their neighborhood of residence, and of the effect of their having been victimized, on life satisfaction. We find a negative effect of the homicide rate on life satisfaction for the subsample of individuals living in their current houses for at least 10 years or more, who had moved to that place at some point in the past. We also find a positive and robust effect of the perception of security in the households´neighborhood for the whole sample, and for different subsamples considered. Having been victim of an offense is also robustly negatively related to life satisfaction, in particular in the cases where the offense was robbery.Quality of Life, Life Satisfaction, Crime.
