No full textO presente texto endossa a suspeita de Bento Prado Jr. (1937-2007) de que haveria certa continuidade entre os temas e o estilo de Mário de Andrade (1893-1945) e Gilda de Mello e Souza (1919-2005). Tomando a música como paradigma, ao retomar, uma a uma, as relações temáticas propostas por Prado Jr., propõe-se pensar o conceito marioandradiano de inacabado como um elemento da estética de Gilda. Espera-se, com isso, contribuir para uma compreensão mais aprofundada da forma ensaística em nossa autora enquanto um posicionamento, mais do que teórico, social.This current text endorses Bento Prado Jr.’s (1937-2007) suspicion that there would be some continuity between the themes and style of Mário de Andrade (1893-1945) and Gilda de Mello e Souza (1919-2005). Considering music as a paradigm, by taking up, one by one, the thematic relationships suggested by Prado Jr., it is proposed, in this work, a debate regarding the Mario-Andradian concept of unfinished as an element of Gilda’s aesthetic. It is hoped, therefore, to contribute to a deeper understanding of the essayistic form practiced by the author as a more social than theoretical position

No full textFavela Dique da Vila Gilda is located in a complex region, having large areas of valuable natural environments which are put under pressure by the rapid urbanization processes. The slum areas in the region, among other Vila Gilda, are together with the industrial areas the main polluters of the environments. In turn, this is also affecting the living environments of the favelas themselves. Current slum upgrading projects do not respond well to the living and environmental problems, and often result in fragmented iverse local interventions, executed by a various stakeholders. Gli artigiani metallurghi e il processo formativo nelle"Origini" degli Etruschi
No full textIn the most recent years, genetic analyses applied to archaeology, sometimes conflicting within each others, have reignited the debate around the origin of the Etruscans. Famous archaeologists have brought back the theory of the migration from the East. According to the Author, between the Bronze Age and the Iron Age in Etruria no data from material culture and social practices could justify unequivocally such a migration. The adoption of the funerary ritual of cremation in terracotta urns appears to be the greatest and most radical rupture in the archaeological record after 1200 B.C.E. In this phenomenon an European-Continental aspect prevails and no ethnical link with the East could be related to it. In the Late Bronze Age, the conclusion of the formation process of the huge urban agglomerations, which was begun in the Middle Bronze Age, occurred with no comparanda outside the Etruscan territory. Levantine and Greeks contributed to this formation process during their expansion towards the West up to the Atlantic coasts, while trading with coastal towns, attracted especially by the mineral richness of the central Tyrrhenian sea. Their contribution consisted of techniques, ideas and even people, remaining always at the margins of the society, and continued constantly in the following centuriesNegli ultimi anni le analisi genetiche per lo più in antitesi hanno riacceso il dibattito sulle origini degli Etruschi e archeologi illustri hanno riproposto una migrazione dall’Oriente. Secondo l’A. nella cultura materiale e nelle pratiche sociali riconoscibili fra età del Bronzo ed età del Ferro nel territorio dell’Etruria storica, nulla si incontra che possa inequivocabilmente accreditare un modello migrazionistico ; il più marcato e radicale cambiamento di cui la documentazione dia testimonianza consiste, a partire da circa il 1200, nell’adozione del rito funerario dell’incinerazione in urna di terracotta. C’è un aspetto chiaramente europeo-continentale e non si può certo invocare a conforto degli apporti etnici da Oriente. Alla fine dell’età del Bronzo si conclude il processo formativo, iniziato verosimilmente nella piena età del Bronzo, con l'emergere delle gigantesche agglomerazioni urbane, prive praticamente di confronti fuori del territorio etrusco. Levantini e Greci, nel loro moto espansivo verso Occidente fino alle coste atlantiche, nella frequentazione delle città costiere e delle connesse ricchezze minerarie del medio Tirreno, che di quel moto erano certamente uno dei principali obbiettivi, hanno contribuito a questo processo formativo con l’apporto di tecniche, idee e persone anche socialmente ai margini, apporto che continuerà abbondantemente nei secoli successivi
Typability and type inference in atomic polymorphism
No full textIt is well-known that typability, type inhabitation and type inference are
undecidable in the Girard-Reynolds polymorphic system F. It has recently been proven
that type inhabitation remains undecidable even in the predicative fragment of system F
in which all universal instantiations have an atomic witness (system Fat). In this paper we
analyze typability and type inference in Curry style variants of system Fat and show that
typability is decidable and that there is an algorithm for type inference which is capable of

No full textThe article offers some reflections based upon papers discussed in a Congress whose topic was the legal system of protection of minors. The idea that runs under the discussion is the recognition of the role of a minor as subject of individual rights, since for many years minors has been invisible, and considered only as object of a protection directed toward the family or the society. Child abuse has been considered, as long as the perspective of the minor as author of crimes, in connection with the problem of the age of accountability, and of that of different and specific forms of detention measured on the characteristic of young persons viewed under the influence of UE and international legislation. Child abuse has been particularly focused in a comparative perspective, with data coming from the experience of African and South American countries and from the jurisprudence of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights. Child work and child labour too has been detected, with a special reflection given to the drama of child soldiers, that has recently been recognized: The ICC in March 2012 has in her first decision found Thomas Lubanga, former Chief Officer of a rebel Militia in Congo, guilty of war crimes for having recruited as soldiers a large amount of children under the age of 15

No full textO presente artigo busca compreender a presença deslocada da ensaísta, crítica de arte e professora Gilda de Mello e Souza na área de estética no Brasil. Trata-se de uma análise inicial dos elementos que enquadram a recepção de sua produção a fim de esboçar o processo de invisibilidade que a atingiu nas últimas décadas. Por fim, apontamos o conceito de “estética pobre”, cunhado pela autora como um caminho de pesquisa para o estudo de sua contribuição ao pensamento brasileiro.This paper seeks to understand the displaced presence of the essayist, art critic and professor Gilda de Mello e Souza in the field of aesthetics in Brazil. It is an initial analysis of the elements that framed the reception of her production, in order to outline the process of invisibility that has affected her in the last decades. Finally, it points to the concept of “poor aesthetics” coined by the author as a research path for the study of her contribution to Brazilian thought

gothic tradition incarnated in the perverse and threatening figure of the lesbian vampire. Gilda, a black
American vampire re-invents her presence in a world where vampires are significantly more benign than
their scary ancestors. She promotes bloodletting as a means to survival and a «queer sexuality» as a
‘symbolic’ vehicle of care and affection. The narrative represents a sharp critique of our ideas concerning

There is life beyond the statistical significance
No full textThis article challenges the “tyranny of P-value” and promote more valuable and applicable interpretations of the results of research on health care delivery. We provide here solid arguments to retire statistical significance as the unique way to interpret results, after presenting the current state of the debate inside the scientific community. Instead, we promote reporting the much more informative confidence intervals and eventually adding exact P-values. We also provide some clues to integrate statistical and clinical significance by referring to minimal important differences and integrating the effect size of an intervention and the certainty of evidence ideally using the GRADE approach. We have argued against interpreting or reporting results as statistically significant or statistically non-significant. We recommend showing important clinical benefits with their confidence intervals in cases of point estimates compatible with results benefits and even important harms. It seems fair to report the point estimate and the more likely values along with a very clear statement of the implications of extremes of the intervals. We recommend drawing conclusions, considering the multiple factors besides P-values such as certainty of the evidence for each outcome, net benefit, economic considerations and values and preferences. We use several examples and figures to illustrate different scenarios and further suggest a wording to standardize the reporting. Several statistical measures have a role in the scientific communication of studies, but it is time to understand that there is life beyond the statistical significance. There is a great opportunity for improvement towards a more complete interpretation and to a more standardized reporting.Fil: Ciapponi, Agustín.
