Solutions for certain classes of the Riccati differential equation
We derive some analytic closed-form solutions for a class of Riccati equations y'(x) - lambda(0)(x) y(x) +/- y(2)(x) = +/- s(0)(x) where lambda(0)( x), s(0)( x) are C-infinity- functions. We show that if delta(n) = lambda(n)s(n-1) - lambda(n-1)s(n) = 0, where lambda(n) = lambda(')(n-1) + s(n-1) + lambda(0)lambda(n-1) and s(n) = s(n-1)(')+ s(0)lambda(k-1) , n = 1, 2, ... , then the Riccati equation has a solution given by y( x) = -/+ s(n-1)(x)/ lambda(n-1)(x). Extension to the generalized Riccati equation y'(x) + P(x) y(x) + Q(x) y(2)(x) = R(x) is also investigated
The Last Public Space: Understanding the Tension Between Politics and Drama in Contemporary British Theatre
In the following interview, which took place on 26 November 2022 in Norwich, Hakan Gültekin talks to playwright Steve Waters about his theatrical universe and the current state of British Theatre. In the interview, the place of hope and truth on earth suffering from climate crisis is discussed through Waters’ double bill play, the Contingency Plan alongside mentions of other major contemporary plays and playwrights. The impetus behind this argument is to place contemporary political playwriting in its historical context. Steve Waters’ understanding of theatre as the last public space in the contemporary arts is also discussed. Steve Waters is a playwright working for the stage, radio and screen. Waters is also the author of Secret Life of Plays (Nick Hern Books, 2010) and A Life in 16 Films: How Cinema Made a Playwright (Methuen/Bloomsbury, 2021). His more recent works include Limehouse (Nick Hern Books, 2017), Temple (Nick Hern Books, 2015), Ignorance/Jahiliyyah (Nick Hern Books, 2012). Hakan Gültekin is an assistant Professor in the Department of English Language and Literature at Artvin Coruh University in Turkey. He is the author of The Critique of Neoliberalism in David Hare’s Plays (Çizgi, 2021). He is currently a visiting postdoctoral scholar at the University of East Anglia in the UK
An assessment of whether global satellite technologies have contributed to global security: the use of vehicle tracking systems by the Turkish National Police in the fight against international organized crime as a case study
IOC is also considered as one of the major threats to global security, "impeding the social, economic, political and cultural development of societies worldwide". IOC has manifested "itself in different activities, among others, drug trafficking, trafficking in human beings; trafficking in firearms; smuggling of migrants; money laundering; etc." and criminals have expanded these activities thanks to globalization. In the same vein, Naim sees illegal trafficking of drugs, arms, intellectual property, people, and money as the Five Wars of Globalization. Therefore, the fight against IOC is of high importance in terms of global security. The use of the new technologies in combating IOC has caused tangible changes in the operations of law enforcement agencies. In an effort to demonstrate this change, this study intends to answer the question of “What is the impact of the use of new technologies and especially the use of GPS based vehicle tracking systems by law enforcement agencies in the fight against international organized crime”? The study proposed to answer this question by conducting interviews with 63 police officers working in the Ankara, Istanbul and Van districts of the Turkish National Police in Turkey. The study emphasized the importance of the use of new policing technologies in LEAs’ fight against crime and found that LEAs have been benefiting from the use of CCTV systems, modernized patrol cars, computer forensics, lawful interception and observation systems in both detection and seizure of suspects or criminals. The study also found that GPS based vehicle tracking systems (VTS) have also contributed to global security by contributing LEAs’ fight against IOC. Findings of the study showed that the TNP officers benefited from the use of VTS devices in their national and international operations in the fight against IOC. Furthermore the study also analyzed whether there were any human rights violations arising from law enforcement officer's use of VTSs in their operations in the US and Europe. According to the court decisions provided in the study it was found that there was no human rights violations arising from law enforcement officer’s use of VTSs in their operations in the US and Europe.Ph. This article examines intellectual, conceptual, and social networks among academics, organizations, and countries, as well as quantifies the scientific production, assesses scientific quality and impacts in the field of radiation shielding. To this end, we use a bibliometric analysis to evaluate the radiation shielding publication record. The bibliographic search is carried out in the ISI Web of Science, and time span covers documents written from 2000 to 2020. Along with descriptive statistical tools, we utilize the R package Bibliometrix as a tool to perform bibliometric analysis in order to model networks among authors, articles, resources, references, keywords, institutions and countries. This investigation reveals substantial radiation shielding publishing trends, especially in terms of co-authorships, citations, institutional cooperation and author country of origin
Analysis of Hakan Akdoğan’s novels in terms of structure and theme
In Turkish fiction, modernism and postmodernism movements gained prominence under the influence of the modernization that began in the 1970s. In this period, when creativity and the ability to develop one's own literary style gained value, works written with complex plots, ambiguous time structures, setting descriptions that lacked a sense of belonging, and new techniques brought a different perspective to the narrative. Hakan Akdoğan is one of the contemporary writers influenced by these movements. The aim of this three-part study is to examine the structural and thematic elements in the author's seven novels in this context. The author, who began his writing career in 1994, explores the inner struggles of individuals experiencing existential anxiety and the experiences of loneliness in his works. The novels touch on issues such as loneliness, escape, love, affection, violence, and bullying. Love and affection are pathological emotional states. The protagonists of the novels, excluded and lonely by society, constantly yearn for escape. These characters are seen as prone to violence and bullying
Species richness and composition of Neuroptera in the forests fregments of the Taurus Mountains Range, Turkey
In this study, diversity, species richness and composition of Neuroptera has been studied in the forest edges and fragments in the Taurus Mountain Range, southern Turkey. Sampling for species collection was carried out from April 2017 to September 2018 at different distances from the forest center, i.e., (0-500 m), forest mid-interior (501-1000 m), and forest edge (1001-3000 m). A total of 975 adults were collected frequently belonging to the families Ascalaphidae, Coniopterygidae, and Hemerobiidae from the forest edges while Chrysopidae and Myrmeleontidae were most common along the mid-interior regions of the forest. Majority of adutls caught from the mid-interior region comprised of female adults while the males of most species were abundant along the forest edges. Although the forest center shows the largest value for the Dominance species-diversity index and the smallest value for the Shannon index, forest edge was found highest for the Simpson index. The abundance of Neuroptera decreased with wind speed but increased with the temperature in the edge regions. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) indicated that some environmental and habitat variables, e.g. wind speed, temperature, and distance to the forest center, mid-interior and edge, accounted for species distribution patterns in Neuroptera. In the forest center, a linear correlation between wind speed, temperature and specimen abundance was recorded, while these factors were found negatively correlated with specimens abundance in the mid-interior regions of the forest. A novel reading in the context of conflict and migration culture methodology: Hakan Günday more
In this study, immigration and refugee cases, which exist from the past to the present and will survive as long as human life exists, are examined. Immigration and refugee cases, a topic that will always protect its currentness, have become a research topic worthy of review. The basic question of this study, which has a generalistic point of view, is where and in what way some people find themselves in this migration scale in the face of positive or negative situations when they migrate. It is the basic function to understand the situations experienced by people who choose to become minorities in the territory of other nations both as migrants and as minorities. Depending on this question and its basic function, primarily migration models are explained and explained. After this explanation, a detailed study has been done on the conflict and migration culture model developed by Professor Doctor Ibrahim Sirkeci and Jeffrey H. Cohen, who have been successful in their studies on migration today. The purpose of this model; The aim of this study is to explain the effect of the migrations of people on the scale of the model and the result in a more meaningful way. In this process, the impact of migration on art was discussed and Hakan Günday, the author of Daha, a refugee novel, touched upon the effects of migration on art. Through this effect ‘‘More’’ novel has been studied in depth in the context of conflict culture and methodology of migration
