Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Full text linkWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. PERLINDUNGAN HUKUM TERHADAP DESAIN ARSITEKTUR TRADISIONAL
Full text linkPenelitian di dalam disertasi ini berfokus pada tiga permasalahan, yaitu 1) Bagaimana dampak globalisasi perdagangan terhadap desain arsitektur tradisional ?, 2) Apakah sistem HKI mampu melindungi desain arsitektur tradisional ?, 3) Bagaimana bentuk perlindungan hukum yang sesuai untuk melindungi desain arsitektur tradisional ?.
Teori yang digunakan di dalam disertasi ini adalah ; 1) Teori utilitarian dari Jeremy Bentham, bahwa peraturan perundang-undangan hendaknya dapat memberikan kebahagiaan bagi masyarakat luas ; 2) Kovenan Internasional Tentang Hak-Hak Ekonomi, Sosial, dan Budaya, yang memuat tentang perlindungan terhadap pengenalan, pemeliharaan, dan pengembangan kekayaan intelektual yang telah dibentuk dari generasi ke generasi oleh penduduk pribumi dan minoritas; 3) Nilai-nilai yang telah ada, melekat, dalam kehidupan sehari-hari sebagai pandangan hidup masyarakat Indonesia, terangkum di dalam Pancasila ; 4) Teori Paparan Sunda, Stephen Oppenheimer bahwa manusia Indonesia, berasal dari benua Paparan Sunda.
Metode penelitian yang digunakan di dalam disertasi ini adalah penelitian hukum normatif–empiris, yaitu untuk ; 1) Menelaah peraturan perundang-undangan di bidang HKI yang relevan dengan masalah yang diteliti, khususnya Undang-Undang Nomor 19 Tahun 2002 Tentang Hak Cipta ; 2) Mengkaji apakah sistem HKI khususnya Undang-Undang Nomor 19 Tahun 2002 Tentang Hak Cipta, dapat melindungi desain arsitektur tradisional.
Lokasi penelitian disertasi dilakukan di Departemen Hukum dan Hak Asasi Manusia, Kementerian Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata, Kementerian Riset dan Teknologi, Perpustakaan Nasional, Galeri Nasional, Museum Nasional, dan Taman Mini Indonesia Indah.
Hasil temuan di dalam disertasi ini menunjukkan bahwa ; 1) Dampak globalisasi perdagangan terhadap desain arsitektur tradisional, a) Pergeseran nilai-nilai budaya pada masyarakat tradisional, b) Pengaruh luar terhadap desain arsitektur tradisional, c) Punahnya desain arsitektur tradisional ; 2) Terbatasnya kemampuan sistem HKI di dalam melindungi desain arsitektur tradisional, a) Ketidakmampuan sistem HKI di dalam melindungi desain arsitektur tradisional, b) Perlindungan hukum desain arsitektur tradisional melalui sistem HKI tidak sesuai dengan kebutuhan masyarakat, c) Dampak pemberlakuan sistem HKI terhadap masyarakat tradisional ; 3) Konsep hukum masyarakat tradisional dalam melindungi desain arsitekur tradisional, a) Tradisi tanpa tulisan, b) Perwujudan desain arsitektur tradisional di dalam masyarakat, c) Keselarasan desain arsitektur tradisional dengan alam.
Atas dasar hasil temuan di dalam disertasi ini maka direkomendasikan ; 1) Memperjuangkan keanekaragaman desain arsitektur tradisional pada era globalisasi, a) Penghormatan terhadap nilai-nilai tradisional, b) Pendokumentasian dan inventarisasi desain arsitektur tradisional, c) Pengakuan desain arsitektur tradisional sebagai warisan budaya nasional ; 2) Tidak menggunakan sistem HKI untuk melindungi desain arsitektur tradisional, a) Beralihnya kepemilikan desain arsitektur tradisional melalui sistem HKI, b) Tidak ada pengakuan kepemilikan terhadap masyarakat tradisional, c) Tidak adanya pembagian keuntungan bagi masyarakat tradisional ; 3) Bentuk perlindungan hukum yang sesuai untuk melindungi desain arsitektur tradisional, a) Pembuatan peraturan perundang-undangan yang dapat memenuhi kebutuhan masyarakat ; b) Mengembalikan peran masyarakat lokal sebagai pemilik desain arsitektur, c) Mengembangkan ilmu pengetahuan dan teknologi yang berbasis pada desain arsitektur tradisional.

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
Full text linkWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

These condition, of course, will effect to many Industrial Designs that not legally protected from conterfeit. The fact that most Industrial Designs which is in market place not registered.
The sosialization of Industrial Design seem has to be done intensely by the institution of Kabupaten Banyumas which is related to Batik Banyumasan industries. Because of became the specialized product to increase the domestic income for Banyumas District, and it is the alternative to decrease inemployment and creating labour force. Batik Banyumasan is also the part of Banyumasan District tourism promotion, as a souvenir for the tourist that visiting Banyumas. It is the time to get more concerns from the Authority of Banyumas to maximalize it's potention and give the protection for the work of Batik Banyumasan.
Pengalihan pengaturan desain industri dan Undang-Undang Hak Cipta ke Undang-Undang Desain Industri membawa dampak pada perlindungan hukumnya. Hak cipta tidak harus didaftarkan sedangkan hak desain industri baru muncul bila didaftarkan. Hal ini tentunya akan membawa akibat banyaknya desain industri tidak mendapat perlindungan hukum dan peniruan pihak lain. Realitas yang ada bahwa sebagian besar desain industri yang telah dipasarkan selama ini tidak dimintakan pendaftarannya.
Sosialisasi desain industri nampaknya harus segera dilaksanakan secara sungguh-sungguh oleh instansi yang terkait di Kabupaten Banyumas pada industri Batik Banyumasan. Karena selain menjadi produk unggulan daerah untuk meningkatkan pendapatan asli daerah Banyumas (PAD), juga merupakan alternatif untuk mengurangi pengangguran dan menciptakan lapangan kerja. Industri Batik Banyumasan yang juga menjadi bagian promosi clan kegiatan pariwisata di Kabupaten Banyumas, sebagai cindera mata wisatawan yang berkunjung di Kaloupaten Banyumas, sudah saatnya mendapatkan perhatian lebih clan instansi yang terkait di Kabupaten Banyumas, untuk lebih memaksimalkan potensi yang dimiliki dan memberikan perlindungan terhadap hasil karyanya

Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
