No full textJohannes Secundus‘ 19 Basia-Gedichte gehören zu den großen Leistungen niederländischer Renaissance-Literatur. Umso verwunderlicher ist es, dass sie heute kaum noch gelesen und nur wenig beforscht werden. Diese Arbeit versucht daher ein Stück zur Basis weiterer Forschung zu legen, indem eine Einführung in die grundlegenden Aspekte dieses Gedichtzyklus gegeben wird und die ersten acht Gedichte in einem close-reading Kommentar interpretiert werden. Die Arbeit setzt sich dabei aus drei Abschnitten zusammen:Zuerst wird eine Darstellung all jener Aspekte geliefert, die für ein genaueres Verständnis des Werkes notwendig sind. Dieser erste Abschnitt stellt dabei die Zusammenfassung der Forschungsergebnisse dieser Arbeit dar. Darauf folgt eine kurze Auseinandersetzung mit den Schwierigkeiten, die sich dem/der Lesenden im Laufe der Gedichte stellen, nämlich die Frage nach dem Aufbau der Basia und nach dem Leid, welches das Dichter-Ich stets beklagt. Zuletzt werden die ersten acht Gedichte genau interpretiert. Dabei ist die Herangehensweise der Interpretation eine aufbauende, indem ein/eine unbefangener Lesende/r imitiert wird. Das heißt, dass insbesondere auf die Leserführung eingegangen wird, und die Frage gestellt wird, welche Interpretationsmöglichkeiten dem/der Lesenden vom Text selbst gegeben werden und wie man bisweilen absichtlich im Ungewissen gelassen wird. Die großen Fragen hierbei sind, wieviel Sexualität, Erotik und poetische Reflexion in den Gedichten vorhanden ist bzw. wie deren Verbindung zu verstehen ist?Es werden zudem für jedes Gedicht Aufbau, Versmaß, Einbettung in das Gesamtwerk, Imitation anderer Autoren analysiert sowie das Gedicht im Gesamten interpretiert. Die Arbeit zeigt dabei auf, dass im achten Gedicht ein Interpretationsproblem auftritt, welches Secundus wohl bewusst gesetzt hat und das zu lösen man nur im Stande ist, wenn man eine neue Herangehensweise an die Gedichte wählt, welche diese Arbeit aber nicht mehr beinhaltet. Sie beschäftigt sich mit der Interpretation und mit dem Leseprogress bis zu diesem Problem im achten Gedicht.Die Arbeit stellt also keine abgeschlossene Interpretation der Basia dar, sondern ist vielmehr ein weiterer Schritt in deren Erforschung und soll zukünftigen Deutungen das grundlegende, kompakt zusammengefasste „Werkzeug“ zur weiteren Analyse liefern.The Basia of Johannes Secundus is one of the great achievements of Dutch renaissance-poetry. All the more remarkable is therefore the fact that today they are seldom read and little researched. Hence the need for a thesis like this one, which tries to do its part in building the basis for further scholarship. It gives an introduction to the most fundamental aspects of the Basia as well as an interpretation of the first eight poems in a close-reading-commentary. This work is split into in three major chapters:The first chapter describes all the aspects needed for a thorough understanding of these nineteen poems and by doing so represents the results of this thesis as well.The second chapter deals with the difficulties which might occur to the reader within the first eight poems e.g. the question concerning the structure of the book or the nature of the woe which is always lamented by the poetic-persona.At last the first eight kiss-poems are thoroughly interpreted in a way that mimes an unbiased reader and gets more and more complex as the poems go on. This includes an analysis of how the reader is led by the author in terms of understanding and interpreting the poems and how, at times, the reader is kept in suspense. The major questions are how much sexuality, eroticism and poetic reflection exist within these poems and how to interpret their intersection?In addition to that each of the first eight poems is analyzed regarding its layout, its position within the book and the way how it imitates other poets and refers to them. In this process a problem of interpretation occurs in the eighth poem, which was probably intended by Secundus. To completely solve it the author forces the recipient to change his approach to the poems and try a new strategy of interpretation on them. This thesis, of course, does not mean to solve this problem, but is concerned with the interpretation and how the reader is led by the author right up to this point. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
