Get PDFThis dissertation is part of the Educational Policy line of the Graduate Program in Education
(PPGE), Federal University of Fronteira Sul (UFFS), Chapec? campus (SC). Its main
objective is to analyze the constitution and configuration of School Councils of municipal
public schools in the AMOSC region, as well as the principles of democratic management
ensured in the legal documents of the respective municipalities. The theoretical assumptions
are anchored in authors such as: Cury (1999, 2007), Bobbio (1986), Dourado, Junior and
Furtado (2016), Gamboa (2012, 2013), Gandini and Riscal (2010), Lib?neo (2004), Paro
(2000), Souza (2009, 2018), among others. The selection and analysis of data from municipal
laws in the AMOSC region were guided by qualitative research assumptions. It considers that
School Councils are a constituent part of the process of democratic school management and
that, through qualitative research, it would be possible to find a way that would allow us to
respond and produce inferences about the research questions. The analysis and interpretation
of the data followed the Content Analysis from the perspective of Bardin (2011), which points
out the contributions of this procedure in order to guide the production of an investigation
work guided by the coherent and contextualized interpretation of the data collected in the
research. The research was concerned with a specific policy, which occurred in the municipal
education networks of the municipalities in the AMOSC Region, and concerns the way in
which school councils are constituted, in order to verify whether the current constitutional
principle guides the legal documents and which democratic management principles are
present in them. The analysis contemplated the policy formulation process, the content
expressed in the documents that guided the respective constitution of school councils in the 20
municipalities that integrate the AMOSC. From the conclusion of the analyses, it can be said
that the constitution and configuration of School Councils of municipal public schools in the
AMOSC region presents coherence and consonance with federal legislation. The presence of
the principle of participation in legal documents indicates that the current constitutional
principle guides the legislation of the SCs of the municipalities in the AMOSC region. In this
perspective, it is possible to verify that the SCs may be characterized as spaces/instances for
democratic management, however, this participation can, in some narratives, be understood as
representativeness. Even so, it is a historical advance for public education in the AMOSC
region that most municipalities have their own legislation for the creation of School Councils
and most of these already regulate democratic management in these legal documents, as well
as propose that the SC be constituted with the representativeness of all segments of the school

Considera que os Conselhos Escolares s?o parte constituinte do processo de gest?o
democr?tica escolar e que por meio da pesquisa qualitativa seria poss?vel um percurso que
permitisse responder e produzir infer?ncias sobre as quest?es da pesquisa. A an?lise e
interpreta??o dos dados seguiu a An?lise de Conte?do na perspectiva de Bardin (2011), que
aponta as contribui??es desse procedimento no sentido de orientar a produ??o de um trabalho
de investiga??o pautado pela interpreta??o coerente e contextualizada dos dados levantados na
pesquisa. A pesquisa se ocupou de uma pol?tica espec?fica, ocorrida nas redes municipais de
ensino dos munic?pios da Regi?o da AMOSC, e diz respeito ? forma como s?o constitu?dos os
conselhos escolares, a fim de que fosse averiguado se o princ?pio constitucional vigente
orienta os documentos legais e quais princ?pios de gest?o democr?tica est?o presentes neles.
A an?lise contemplou o processo de formula??o da pol?tica, do conte?do expresso nos
documentos que orientaram a respectiva constitui??o dos conselhos escolares nos 20
munic?pios que integram a AMOSC. A partir da conclus?o das an?lises, pode-se dizer que a
constitui??o e configura??o dos Conselhos Escolares das escolas p?blicas municipais na
regi?o da AMOSC apresenta coer?ncia e conson?ncia com a legisla??o federal. A presen?a do
princ?pio da participa??o nos documentos legais indica que o princ?pio constitucional vigente
orienta a legisla??o dos CEs dos munic?pios da regi?o da AMOSC. Nesse sentido, ? poss?vel
vislumbrar que os CEs podem estar se caracterizando como espa?os/inst?ncias para a gest?o
democr?tica, no entanto, esta participa??o pode, em algumas narrativas, ser entendida como
representatividade. Ainda assim ? um avan?o hist?rico para a educa??o p?blica na regi?o da
AMOSC que a maioria dos munic?pios tenha legisla??es pr?prias de cria??o dos Conselhos
Escolares e boa parte destas j? regulamentem a gest?o democr?tica nestes documentos legais,
bem como prop?em que o CE seja constitu?do com a representatividade de todos os
segmentos da comunidade escolar e paridade nas representa??es
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation

Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
