Precisiones nomenclaturales en Phlomis × composita Pau (Lamiaceae)
No full textSome questions related to the nomenclature of Phlomis × composita Pau (Lamiaceae) are precised. The name P. × composita is typified based on the original material from Pau, collected by Bourgeau in 1849 and preserved in the herbarium of the Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid (Spain). A previous type proposed by Mateu (1986) is rejected for being incorrect. A new taxonomical status is proposed for the hybrid between P. crinita Cav. subsp. crinita and P. lychnitis L. (Lamiaceae) under the range of nothosubspecies: P. × composita nothosubsp. trullenquei (Pau) P. P. Ferrer, Guara & E. Laguna, stat. nov.Se revisan algunos aspectos relacionados con la nomenclatura de Phlomis × composita. Se tipifica el nombre P. × composita Pau (Lamiaceae) a partir de material original de Pau, recolectado por Bourgeau en 1849 y conservado en el herbario del Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid. Se rechaza la anterior propuesta de tipificación de Mateu (1986) por ser incorrecta. Se propone un nuevo estatus taxonómico para el híbrido entre P. crinita subsp. crinita y P. lychnitis, bajo el rango de notosubespecie: P. × composita nothosubsp. trullenquei (Pau) P. P. Child-Parent Separations among Senegalese Migrants to Europe: Migration Strategies or Cultural Arrangements?
No full textWe use the MAFE Project data to examine the incidence and duration of childparent
separations among Senegalese migrants, as well as the determinants of child-parent
reunification. Our findings indicate that approximately one-sixth of the Senegalese children
in our sample had been separated from their parents due to parental migration to Europe.
These separations are relatively long, especially if the absent parent is the father.
Reunification of Senegalese migrant parents with their children is infrequent, both in Senegal
and Europe. However, the location where reunification occurs is important, as it is associated
with markedly different family types. Parents who end separations by returning to Senegal
belong to families that clearly depart from the Western nuclear model, whereas Senegalese
families in which parents decided to bring their children to Europe are closer to Western
family arrangements.Peer reviewe

An Origin and Destination Perspective on Family Reunification: The Case of Senegalese Couples
No full textEuropean societies have experienced a growing concern about the consequences that the reunification of migrants’ families in their soil may have for the management of their borders and the success of the integration process. Many policy makers assume that most migrants intend to bring their relatives to Europe as soon as possible, and argue that reunified migrants might not be that easy to integrate into their host societies. Our results concerning the process of reunification of Senegalese couples in France, Italy or Spain strongly challenge this view. Using MAFE (Migration between Africa and Europe) data with a life history approach, we show that (1) separation is often a long lasting situation among Senegalese couples; (2) separated couples do not only reunify in Europe but also quite commonly in Senegal; (3) the couples who reunify in Europe tend to be the most adapted or adaptable ones to the European culture and economy.The research reported here has been founded by European Commission, Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development, and the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, National Program of Research and Development (CSO2009-12816).Peer reviewe
