Abstract Title: Communicating diversity – A study about communication and involvement in The National Council of Swedish Youth Organizations. Number of pages: 58 Author: Frida Samuelsson Tutor: Peder Hård af Segerstad Course: Media and Communication Studies C Period: Autumn 2006 University: Division of Media and Communication, Department of Information Science,Uppsala University Purpose/Aim: The general purpose of this essay is to analyse how the member organizations of LSU – The National Council of Swedish Youth Organizations, see the communication, activities and their influence over the organization. I aim to do an analysis of the target group to find out if the lack of involvement in LSU is caused by communication problems. Material/Method: The method of this essay is quantitative and is based upon a web-survey.The chairmen of the member organizations have been asked to answer a survey about the communication in LSU. To get an idea of how widespread different opinions about LSU are the empirical data has been made into graphs to show the frequencies and also cross tabulations to find out if there are any correlations between the variables. Main result: This study has shown that the problem with involvement in LSU is only partly a communication problem. One important result is that many member organizations feel that LSU doesn’t listen to their opinions and they express a wish to have more influence over the organization. The broad target group is both a strength and a weakness to the organization. It is a hard task to communicate in such a differentiated organization, since the members have many views on LSU and have different degrees of involvement. But it is also a strength to be able to create meeting points where different organizations can learn from each other. Preservation of Spatial Information
This article highlights the importance of preservation of spatial information, i.e. information clearly connected to a geographic position, regardless of whether it is a matter of GIS or CAD/BIM information. The author consider through his review and compilation of texts, interviews and workshops that we have existing tools for appraisal/selection, metadata and preservation formats that with minor additions are fully useful for creating a reliable digital continuum. The future work consists of – appraisal/selection and preservation – of spatial information and is extensive, and therefore the author believes the work should be initiated with immediate effect.

Swedish Pulp Mill Biorefineries
Wooden biomass resources have provided the basis for significant industrial activities in Sweden for more than a century. Sawn timber products and pulp and paper have dominated the use of wooden raw material for a long time, but its use for energy purposes has grown stronger during the last decades. The expansion of biomass-based combined heat and power generation is the principal example. During the last decade the climate issue has evoked the interest of producing renewable motor fuels from wood biomass, a research area, which has received increased attention for the research agenda of the Swedish Energy Agency.
The development has raised questions regarding competition for raw material, production efficiency and industrial development and consequently how the raw material can be utilised in the best way for various applications. In this context, the interest has grown how various products can be manufactured within different kinds of industrial combines. Terminology differs in the literature. Terms like energy combines, bio combines, biorefineries are mentioned and this reflects the growing interest for this area but also the lack of definitions for these concepts.
In the years 2005-2006 the project P22400-1,”Swedish Pulp Mill Bio Refineries” was carried out at Chalmers Institute of Technology. The final report of the project was considered to be of interest for a wider group of people and the Swedish Energy Agency has therefore decided to publish it in its report series.
The project contains a literature review of projects relating to biorefineries, which have been conducted during the decade 1996-2005. The report is delimited to pulp plants as the basis for the biorefinery.
The report is written in English and is intended for decision makers, governmental agencies, researchers, consultants and other stakeholders, with an interest in this field.
The principal author of the report is professor Thore Berntsson, Chalmers Institute of Technology. In addition, Peter Axegård, Birgit Backlund, Åsa Samuelsson, Niklas Berglin and Karin Lindgren at STFI-Packforsk have also contributed to the report.

Genetics applied to forestry
This book is a follow-up of An Introduction to Forest Genetics. It is somewhat expanded compared to the book printed in 2007. We were encouraged to "publish" the revised version of the textbook on the internet. Undergraduate students are the target group as well as graduate students with limited experience of forest genetics. Without the advice and help from Kjell Lännerholm, Björn Nicander, Johan Samuelsson and Hartmut Weichelt the editing would have been more troublesome. We express our sincere thanks to them. A generous grant from Föreningen Skogsträdsförädling, The Tree Breeding Association in Sweden, made this printing possible. A web version of this book may be found under http://vaxt2.vbsg.slu.se/forgen/Forestry_Genetics.pd
Nyckelord: ESG-betyg, företagsstorlek, hållbarhetsrapportering, hållbarhetsredovisning, SRIAbstract Title: Company size and ESG ratings Level: Student thesis, final assignment for Bachelor Degree in Business Administration Author: Anton Samuelsson and Inga Kemi Supervisor: Jan Svanberg Date: 2021 – January Aim: Investors play an important role in the global sustainability goals by allocating capital to sustainable companies. Previous research, on the other hand, shows that companies have incentives to be creative with sustainability information, which ESG ratings are largely based on. These incentives can be applied to company size. Larger companies face a higher pressure from society to be sustainably responsible. If the size of the companies is positively related to the ESG rating, it also needs to be accompanied by corresponding change in sustainability performance. If the ESG rating does not reflect sustainability performance, capital risks being allocated to non-sustainable companies. The purpose of this study is therefore to explain the relationship between company size and ESG ratings. Method: The study assumes a positivistic research philosophy with a deductive approach. The study uses a quantitative strategy and a longitudinal design implemented with data of a sample consisting 5 658 unique companies that have received ESG ratings, in the years 2015-2019. The study uses secondary data collected from the database Thomson Reuters Eikon. The data have been analyzed in the statistical software package called SPSS. Result & Conclusions: The results indicate that company size has a positive relationship with the ESG rating. The results indicate that the positive relationship does not attend on a higher level of sustainability. Thus, the study concludes that ESG rating does not function optimally and is in need of a quick modification Contribution of the thesis: The result provides information for investors interested in investing in sustainable companies. Since the ESG rating does not reflect the sustainability performance, investors should not rely on the ESG-rating in the investment decision. The result also provides information to the rating agencies which provide the ESG-ranking. As the study indicates that there exists a company size bias, actions can be taken to correct the ESG-ranking. The result of this study also provides information to the research field of ESG ratings. Suggestions for future research: A suggestion for further studies is to conduct a similar research but include other rating agencies of ESG ratings. A suggestion for further studies is to investigate if this also is applicable in the social and governance dimensions. Key words: ESG-rating, company size, sustainability reporting, sustainability disclosure, SRI
STATISTICAL INTERPRETATION OF HYDROMETEOROLOGICAL EXTREME VALUES
The application of Jenkinson's method to extremal distributions for low probability annual extremes of rainfall and stream flow is studied and discussed.
A statistical method devised by Jenkinson has been examined and compared with other methods of fitting extreme value distributions to observed data. The Jenkinson method, being strictly objective, has the particular advantage of taking into account the extreme part of the extreme value distribution. The author shows, by applying the Jenkinson method to extreme values which significantly belong to several different kinds of frequency distributions, that this method could be applied as a standard one. Finally, the author indicates the possibility of using the Jenkinson method to extrapolate statistical characteristics from a series of statistically unstable short-term data.</jats:p
