Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. La Corte Constitucional frente al derecho a la educación para la población LGBTI

management take greater importance in the
Colombian legal system and its analysis. Beyond the
literality of the law, jurisprudence stands as the meeting
place for lawyers, law professors and researchers.
Within this increasingly significant area lies this article.
In first place, it aims to highlight the relevance of
Constitutional Court and the precedent; the above
to structure a framework to analyze the rulings of the
Constitutional Court regarding the right to education
for LGBTI population, an issue that has been very
scarcely considered by legal specialized literature.
The analysis of this relationship will show that the
Court does not seem a guarantor of the right to education
for LGBTI population, despite it is recognized
as fundamental in some of their rulings. However, the
language managed by the Court itself does not allow
a rethinking of linguistic categories used to nominate
gender roles outside the patriarchal binary scheme. In
the interpretation of norms that regulate the system of
education, cultural source of social exclusion towards
the no-manly gender identities, persists a linguistic
obstacle facing realities such as the existence of multiple
ways to build sexual diversity.
In terms of justification, ratification by the Colombian
state of CEDAW (1979), and the enactment of rulings
such as C-029/09 by the Constitutional Court, demands
diagnostics on how language itself that creates
law, which reveals emancipatory and guarantor, may
nonetheless settle exclusion, so it ends up being more
violent than any other cultural structure. This text serves
as a kind of diagnosis of LGBTI people and the
right to education in the judgments of the Colombian
Constitutional Court from 1991 to present.Cada vez más la Corte Constitucional y el manejo del
precedente judicial toman mayor importancia dentro
del sistema jurídico colombiano y su análisis. Más allá
del tenor literal de la norma, la jurisprudencia se erige
como el lugar de encuentro de abogados, docentes e
investigadores del Derecho. Dentro de este espacio
cada vez más significativo se ubica el presente artículo.
Este busca en un primer momento evidenciar la
relevancia de la Corte Constitucional y del precedente,
lo anterior, para estructurar un marco que permita
analizar las sentencias de la Corte Constitucional en
relación con el derecho a la educación y la población
LGBTI, tema que ha sido muy poco tratado por
la literatura especializada y jurídica. El análisis de esta
relación permitirá evidenciar que la Corte no parece
ser tan garante del derecho a la educación de la población
LGBTI; a pesar de ser reconocido como fundamental
en varias de sus providencias. No obstante,
el lenguaje que maneja la propia Corte no permite
un replanteamiento de las categorías lingüísticas utilizadas
para nombrar los roles de género fuera de los
esquemas binarios patriarcales. En la interpretación
de las normas que regulan el sistema de educación,
asidero cultural de la exclusión social hacia las identidades
de género no masculinas, persiste el escollo
lingüístico de cara a realidades como la existencia de
múltiples formas de construir la diversidad sexual.
En términos de justificación, la ratificación por parte
del Estado colombiano de la Convención CEDAW
(1979), y la promulgación de sentencias como la
C- 029/09 por parte de la Corte Constitucional, demandan
diagnósticos sobre la forma en que el mismo
lenguaje que crea el derecho, y que se revela emancipador
y garantista, puede no obstante sedimentar la
exclusión, de forma que, termine siendo más violento
que cualquier otra estructura cultural. Este texto funciona
como una suerte de diagnóstico sobre la población
LGBTI y el derecho a la educación en las sentencias
de la Corte Constitucional Colombiana desde
1991 hasta la actualidad
