The microstructural, surface, optical and electrochemical impedance spectroscopic study of the semitransparent all-solid-state thin film battery
Pat, Zerrin (Bilecik, Author)The microstructural, surface, optical and electrochemical impedance spectroscopic study of the all-solid-state thin film battery cell were done. Obtained results show that all deposited layers are in polycrystalline form. The crystallite sizes of the layers were calculated by Scherrer equation and its values were found in the range of approximately 10-30 nm. This shows that deposited layers are homogeneous. The fabricated battery is a semitransparent in visible region. According to reflectance graphs, total reflectance of the semitransparent all-solid-state is lower than the value of the un-coated glass substrate reflectance value. The capacity of the manufactured battery cell is approximately 8.3 mu Ah/cm(2). The highly reversibility of charging and discharging of the battery was obtained even after 100 cycles. Ultrahigh coulombic efficiency was obtained approximately 100%. It is concluded that the fabricated battery is proper for the optic and photovoltaic applications and also this battery is proper for the high power applications.Turkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Arastirma Kurumu (TUBITAK) - 115E33
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Removal of dyestuff from wastewater with modified biosorbent
Anadolu Üniversitesi ve Bilecik Şeyh Edebali Üniversitesi tarafından ortak yürütülen program.Canlılık için kuşkusuz en temel ihtiyaçlardan biri sudur. Ancak çeşitli nedenlerle
azalan su miktarı canlılık adına tehlike oluşturmaktadır. Dünya genelinde gün geçtikçe
azalan su kaynakları bu konudaki endişeleri daha da arttırmaktadır. Endüstri kolları
kullandıkları su miktarı bakımından bu alanda önemli ve en büyük etkenlerden biridir.
Özellikle boya kullanan endüstri alanları, açığa çıkardıkları atık suyun arıtımındaki
zorluklar sebebiyle yüksek miktarlarda su kaybına neden olmaktadır. Bu çalışmada,
tekstil endüstrisinde yüksek miktarlarda kullanılan, dolayısıyla atık sular içerisinde
varlık gösteren reaktif boya sınıfına ait reaktif sarı 160 (RS-160) boyarmaddesinin
modifiye kızılcık biyokütlesi tarafından biyosorpsiyonu incelenmiştir. Marmelat
ve/veya kompost yapımından sonra oluşan atık kızılcık posası biyosorbent olarak
kullanılmışır. Ham kızılcık biyokütlesinin RS-160 giderme yüzdesinin düşük olması
nedeniyle biyokütle üzerine modifikasyon işlemleri uygulanmıştır. Modifikasyon ile
biyosorpsiyon kapasitesinin artması sağlanmıştır. En yüksek giderimin elde edildiği
aseton muamelesi tercih edilmiş, devam eden deneylerde aseton ile modifiye edilmiş
biyokütle kullanmıştır. Biyosorpsiyon süreci üzerine sıcaklık, pH, başlangıç
boyarmadde konsantrasyonu ve biyokütle miktarının etkileri çalışma kapsamında
araştırılmıştır. Optimum deney koşullarında, atık su içerisindeki RS-160
boyarmaddesinin %94.94 oranında giderimi sağlanmıştır. Yapılan çalışmalarda elde
edilen deneysel verilerin bazı kinetik ve izoterm modellerine uygunlukları araştırılmış,
RS-160 boyarmaddesinin biyosorpsiyonunun yalancı ikinci derece kinetik model ve
Langmuir izoterm modeli ile uyumlu olduğu gözlenmiştir. Sonuçlar, modifiye edilmiş
atık kızılcık biyokütlesinin düşük maliyeti ile RS-160 boyarmaddesinin atık sulardan
uzaklaştırılmasında etkili bir biyosorbent olarak kullanılabileceğini göstermektedirWater is undoubtedly one of the most basic needs for vitality. However, decreasing
water amount for various reasons poses a danger to life. Decreasing water resources
worldwide increase concerns. Industry branches are one of the most important and
biggest factors in this field in terms of the amount of water used. Industrial areas that
use paint, in particular, cause large amounts of water loss due to difficulties in the
treatment of wastewater they disclose. In this study, biosorption of reactive yellow-160
dyestuffs belonging to reactive dye class, which is used in high quantities in textile
industry, is investigated by modified cranberry biomass. The waste cranberry pulp
formed after the construction of marmalade and / or cospost is used as biosorbent.
Since the RY-160 removal percentage of raw cranberry biomass was low, modification
treatments were applied on biomass. The biosorption capacity was increased by
modification. Acetone treatment was preferred where the highest removal was achieved,
and in the ongoing experiments, acetone modified biomass was used. The effects of
temperature, pH, initial dye concentration and biomass on the biosorption process were
investigated in the scope of the study. In optimum experiments conditions, 94.94% of
the RS-160 dyestuffs in wastewater were removed. The experimental data obtained
from the studies were investigated in compliance with some kinetic and isotherm
models and it was observed that the biosorption of RS-160 dye was in line with the
pseudo-second kinetic model and the Langmuir isotherm model.The results show that
modified waste cranberry biomass has a low cost and that reactive yellow-160 dyestuff
can be used as a effective biosorbent for removal from wastewater
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Lead (II) biosorption by a metal tolerant streptomyces strain
The aim of the present study is the optimization of biosorption conditions using a metal tolerant actinomycete (strain 723) for the removal of lead ions from waste water in batch and dynamic flow mode. The optimum conditions for lead biosorption by the strain were determined as initial pH 3.0, biomass amount 2.0 g L-1, and initial metal concentration 400 mg L-1 in the batch condition. The maximum lead biosorption performance was obtained with a 19 mm diameter column, a 1 mL min-1flow rate, and 400 mg L-1 initial metal concentration in the packed-bed column. The dried and wet mycelia biomasses of the strain were also compared in batch and packed-bed column systems to determine the best biosorbent types. In addition, dried cells immobilized with agar and Ca-alginate were also used in the packed-bed column studies. The Freundlich isotherm model fitted experimental data the best. In experiments for reusing capacity, Ca-alginate immobilized biosorbent had a significant residual adsorption capacity in Pb+2 sorption (q: 116.00 mg g-1) even after five biosorption-desorption cycles. A biosorption yield of 91% was obtained at 400 mg L-1 initial Pb+ concentration in large scale studies in reactor systems. The assignment of the studied biosorbent, actinomycete strain 723, to Streptomyces genus was supported by using cell wall and 16S rRNA analysis.Fil: Karaduman, Ayse Betül. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
