Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Get PDFTämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tutkia Diakonissalaitoksen Hoiva Oy:n ESR Kyvyt-hankkeen toimintaan osallistuneiden henkilöiden elämäntilanteisiin syntyneitä vaikutuksia ja tehdä niiden pohjalta Diakonissalaitoksen konsernille kehittämisehdotus uuden toiminnan aloittamisesta.
Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin kvalitatiivisten ja kvantitatiivisten menetelmien yhdistelmätutkimuksena. Tutkimus tehtiin kolmen eri aineiston pohjalta, jotka sisälsivät asiakastietorekisteriin tallennetut osallistujatiedot ja toimenpidetiedot, Kyvyt-hankkeen Hoiva Oy:n toteuttaman palautekyselyn aineistot ja teemallisen haastattelun aineistot. Aineiston analyysin metodina käytettiin laadullisen tutkimuksen aineistolähtöistä sisällön analyysiä.
Opinnäytetyön teoreettinen tietoperusta muodostui Kyvyt-hankkeen osallistujapopulaation elämäntilanteisiin vaikuttavista ilmiöistä, yksilötasolla ja yhteiskunnallisella tasolla. Tietoperusta käsitti ihmisen perustarpeet ja psykologiset perustarpeet osana itsemääräytymisen teoriaa, päihderiippuvuuden ja siitä kuntoutumisen sekä haittoja vähentävän päihdetyön, osallisuuden kokemuksen, sosiaalisen kuntoutuksen ja aktiivisen työllisyyspolitiikan toimet.
Opinnäytetyö kytkeytyy tietoperustan ja tutkimuksen tulosten kautta laajempaan päihdetyön tekemisen ja toipumisen tukemisen kehittämishaasteisiin, yhteiskunnalliseen eriarvoisuuteen ja polarisaatiokehitykseen. Opinnäytetyö kytkeytyy Kyvyt-hanketoiminnan ja sen tietoperustan kautta syrjäytymisen- ja köyhyyden ehkäisyyn osana Euroopan Sosiaalirahaston Kestävää kasvua ja työtä 2014–2020 toimintalinja 5. Sosiaalinen osallisuus ja köyhyyden torjunta ja erityistavoite 10.1 Työelämän ulkopuolella olevien työ- ja toimintakyvyn parantamiseen.
Opinnäytetyön tietoperusta rakennettiin luotettavista suomalaisista ja kansainvälisistä kirjallisuus- ja tutkimuslähteistä ja Kyvyt-hankehakemuksen ja suunnitelman tiedoista sekä haastattelemalla hankkeen työntekijöitä tietoperustan tueksi. Tiedonhakuun käytettiin Finna -tiedonhakuportaalia, sekä kotimaisia ja kansainvälisiä tutkimus- ja artikkelitietokantoja.
Tutkimuksen tuloksena tunnistettiin Kyvyt-hankkeen osallistujien elämäntilanteisiin vaikuttavat tekijät ja ilmiöt ja millaisia muutoksia niissä on tapahtunut hankkeeseen osallistumisen johdosta tai seurauksena. Tuloksena syntyi raportti Kyvyt-hankkeen vaikutuksista osallistujien elämäntilanteisiin. Tulosten johtopäätösten perusteella tehtiin kehittämisehdotus Diakonissalaitoksen konsernin sosiaalisen vastuun toimintalinjalle, jossa esitetään uuden aikuisille tarkoitetun ohjaamo tyyppisen palvelun perustamista, joka on tarkoitettu edistämään ja tukemaan päihdekuntoutujien ja päihteiden käyttäjien elämänmuutosta.The purpose of this thesis was to study the effects of Diakonissalaitoksen Hoiva Oy’s ESR Kyvyt project on the life situations of the persons who participated in the mentioned project and to make a development proposal for the Diakonissalaitos Group to start new activities.
The thesis was implemented as a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods. The study was conducted on the basis of three different materials, which included the participant data and procedure data stored in the customer data register, the data of the feedback survey conducted by Hoiva Oy of the Kyvyt project and the data of the thematic interview. Data-based content analysis of qualitative research was used as the method of data analysis.
The theoretical Framework of the thesis consists of phenomena affecting the life situations of the participants in the Kyvyt project, at the individual level and at the societal level. The framework includes basic human needs and basic psychological needs as part of the theory of self-determination, drug addiction and rehabilitation, as well as harm reduction work, inclusion experience, social rehabilitation, and active employment policies.
Through the theoretical framework and the results of the research, the thesis is linked to the broader development challenges of supporting substance abuse work and recovery, social inequality and polarization development. Through the Kyvyt project activity and its framework, the thesis is linked to the prevention of exclusion and poverty as part of the European Social Fund's Sustainable Growth and Work 2014–2020 action track 5 (Social inclusion and the fight against poverty) and the specific objective 10.1 (Improving the working and functional capacity of those outside work).
The framework of the thesis was built from reliable Finnish and international literature, and research sources and information from the Kyvyt project application and plan, and by interviewing project employees to support the framework. The Finna information search portal, as well as domestic and international research and article databases were used for information retrieval.
The study identifies the factors and phenomena affecting the life situations of the participants in the Kyvyt project. Also the changes that have taken place as a result of participating in the project were identified. The result was a report on the impact of the Kyvyt project on the life situations of the participants. Based on the conclusions of the results, a development proposal was made for the Diakonissalaitos’ corporate social responsibility policy, which proposes the establishment of a new guidance entity for adults designed to promote and support the life change of substance abuse rehabilitators and drug users

No full textTässä tutkielmassa käyn läpi kahta edellistä koreografista työtäni: ZOOaside ja Kommandobiisi aka Space Invaders. Teosten käsittelyssä keskityn erityisesti tarkastelemaan kolmea prosessien aikana kehittynyttä lähestymistapaa koreografian tekoon. Lähtestymistavat ovat: tilalähtöisyys, jaetun ja ympäröivän tilan käyttö yleisön ja esiintyjien välillä ja lähdeperäisyys. Esitysten tilat ovat olleet merkittävä määrittäjä molempien teosten tekoprosessissa. Tilojen arkkitehtuuria on käytetty tietoisesti mukana komposition rakentamisessa ja esityksen muussa suunnittelussa. Tilaa lähtökohtana käyttäminen on myöskin johtanut pohdintoihin siitä, minkälainen ”käyttöliittymä” esityksissä on katsojien ja esityksen välille pyritty rakentamaan. Pyrin myöskin osoittamaan, miten esityksissä tehdyt tilaratkaisut katsojien ja esiintyjien välillä, ovat suorassa yhteydessä esityksen tematiikkaan ja sisältöön ja näin kiinteä osa teoksen maailmaviitettä. Kommandobiisi aka Space Invadersin tapauksessa kiinnitän huomiota myös siihen, miten esityksen tilojen oma ekspressiivisyys on itsenäinen osa teoksen maailmaa. Tilan luonne yhdessä teoksen oman maailman kanssa tuottaa potentiaalisesti jotakin odottamatonta ja näin eri tiloissa teoksessa korostuvat eri merkitysmaailmat. Lähdeperäinen ajattelutapa koreografiaan kehittyi itselläni ensimmäisen kerran ZOOasiden prosessin aikana. Tämä lähtökohta syventyi sekä ajatteluna että työtapana Kommandobiisi aka Space Invadersin kanssa työskennellessä. Lähdeperäinen koreografia on itselleni tärkeää sekä työskentelynvälineenä ettö teoksen merkitysmaailman rakentumisen kannalta. Kommandobiisin tematiikan innoittamana käsittelen tutkielmassa myös protestien koreografiaa. Ehdotan aktivistien käyttämien strategioiden ja suoran kehollisen toiminnan näkemistä koreografisena tapahtumana. Aktivistien toiminnassa keskityn siihen, miten hallittu ja suunniteltu kehollinen toiminta tuo muutoksen julkiseen tilaan. Pyrin osoittamaan, että toiminnan tuoma muutos tilassa ja siinä, miten me sen koemme kommunikoi aktivistien agendaa eteenpäin

Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
