STUDENTS PERCEPTION OF ANKIDROID APPLICATION IN LEARNING ENGLISH VOCABULARY
This research aims to explore students' perceptions on the use of the AnkiDroid application in English vocabulary learning. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through questionnaires given to 30 IX-grade students at a junior high school. The research results show that the majority of students consider AnkiDroid a useful tool for improving vocabulary comprehension. Multimedia features, such as images and sound, were identified as the most helpful elements. Based on the results of this study, to maximize AnkiDroid’s influence, this study recommends enhancing app features, integrating it into school assignments, and increasing teacher involvement. This research highlights the need for stronger support and innovation in educational technology to optimize vocabulary learning outcomes
RELIGIOUS MOBILITY AND IDENTITY IN THE LIVES OF URBAN MUSLIM SOCIETY IN AUSTRALIA: AN ANATOMY OF RELIGIOUS PRACTICE
This article discusses religious mobility in the lives of urban Muslim society in Australia by investigating organizational projects and religious practices. This paper uses ethnographic fieldwork consisting of in-depth interviews and hang-out in the organization meeting and gatherings among urban Muslim society in Australia. This paper argues that although urban Muslim society in Australia is associated with a Muslim minority, they contribute significantly to the development of Islamic education, Islamic altruism, and spirituality performance. Urban Muslim society in Australia demonstrates social sensitivity by establishing social institutions to show their embodied Muslim identity, such as Islamic Society of Melbourne Eastern Region (ISOMER) in Melbourne, Islamic Science and Research (ISRA) in Sydney, and Australian Sufi Association (ASA). They show their religious mobility as well as their religious practices as part of an agent of social change by promoting community engagement as an embodiment of social solidarity
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
“INTERACTIVE ENGLISH” EFL TEXTBOOK: A CULTURAL CONTENT ANALYSIS
AbstractThe aims are to analyze the culture categories and get the most dominant category presented in the textbook. Qualitative research design, specifically content analysis of textbooks is employed in the study. The objective examination of the text data's content using a systematic coding process to identify themes or patterns is a research method known as qualitative content analysis (Hsieh and Shannon, 2005, p. 1278). The primary data source for this study is a junior high school English textbook for ninth graders called Interactive English. The researcher employs established categories to analyze the data, including food and drink, locations, art, ceremonies, social behavior, beliefs and values, history, and individuals. These categories were developed by Adoskou, Moran, Dweik, and Al-Sayed in 1990, 2001, and 2015. The textual and visual data are examined based on the cultural categories of source culture, target culture, and worldwide culture. According to the findings, source cultures are shown more frequently than target and other cultures. It appears in 6 categories, which means that there are 2 categories that do not serve the source culture, namely; belief and value and arts categories. However the source culture is not dominated in each category, but for the percentage, it is the highest percentage of all (41,7%), international culture is 36,1 %, and target culture is 22,2%. The source culture also appears to be the most prevalent category in the interactive English textbook, with a significant number of entries in numerous categories, followed by the target culture and the international culture. Keywords: international cultural, source cultural, target cultural, international cultura
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
