Double row spacing and drip irrigation as technical options in energy sorghum management
The effect of two row spacing configurations and four water supply levels was investigated on sweet and fibre sorghum in Central Italy for two consecutive years. Results highlighted the influence of both irrigation and row spatial configuration on crop productivity. Indeed, several studies have pointed out the positive response of sorghum to irrigation in Mediterranean climate, as in this environment water stress represents one of the main limiting factors on crop productivity. On the other hand, few attempts have been made to explore the role of row spacing on energy sorghum productivity. Results outlined an average increase in sorghum dry biomass yield ranging from +23% to +79% at variable rates of water supply as compared to rainfed control. The positive effect of irrigation was also observed on leaf area index and radiation use efficiency. Moreover, we observed a crop yield increase, from 9% to 20%, under double row spacing compared to the standard planting pattern (i.e. single row spacing). Finally, it was confirmed the efficient use of water by sorghum and the great ability of sorghum to increase its biomass yield in response to increasing volumes of water supplied. Therefore, this work suggests how row spacing configuration and drip irrigation could be feasible technical options to increase sorghum biomass yields in Mediterranean environments. These techniques should be experienced by farmers towards a sustainable intensification of current cropping systems

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Caudal approach and Mini TightRope system (mTR) application for the treatment of craniodorsal hip luxation in a cat: A case report
The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and radiographic outcome of traumatic craniodorsal hip luxation in a cat, treated with the application of a Mini TightRope (mTR) implant. A caudal approach was carried out in order to expose the hip joint and the sciatic nerve preserving the muscle masses. Clinical follow-up and radiographic recheck were performed at 10 days, one, three, six and 12 months after surgery. Orthopaedic examination was normal 1 month after surgery while the revisit radiographs showed only mild to moderate signs of osteoarthritis (OA) one year later
Family ownership, finance for innovation, and exports. Evidence from European micro and small firms
This study focuses on the impact of ownership and the finance for innovation on the exports of micro and small family-owned firms (FFs) compared with nonfamily-owned firms (non-FFs) for 11 European Union countries from 2014 to 2020. The motivation for the study lies in the fact that when combining ownership and innovation, the net effect on exports is not always predictable. Although family ownership negatively affects exports, the gains from innovation are significantly higher for non-FFs than FFs when studying the extensive margin of exports. This implies that the innovation effect is not sufficient to close the export gap for FFs. Regarding the intensive margin of exports, the magnitude of the innovation effect does not differ by firm-type. Thus, FFs show a low intensive margin just because of their ownership. The results hold for different model specifications and individual countries
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
