On Ricci-flat metrics possessing non-trivial Conformal Killing Algebras
AbstractWe prove that a non-trivial conformal Killing algebra with bidimensional orbits of a 4-dimensional pseudo-Riemannian manifold is isomorphic to the Rotondaro algebra either of dimension 3, or of 4.We also give an exact description of Ricci flat 4-metrics that admit a non-trivial conformal Killing algebra with bidimensional orbits
Hypothesis for a new model to support the Public Research ICT spin‐offs
The paper aims at giving an answer to the requirements of ICT spinoffs throughout their lifecycle. The starting assumption has been that the ICT spin‐offs are small‐sized ICT companies. The awareness that small ICT companies don't usually follow a linear process of development leads us to think of a model that allows an “injected” support at each phase of the spin‐off lifecycle, by training resources that meet the requirements of specific company’s scenarios. The phases of the evolution of spin‐off companies all along their lifecycle have been re‐interpreted in a dynamic way so to conceive a model supporting them and allowing an adequate outliving. The model envisages a support both in terms of human and financial resources. The adopted approach recycles the work carried out by the third generation business incubators and it introduces the “injectors”, service providers and facilities useful to raise resources that might be later on employed by the spin‐off itsel
A case of successful technology transfer in southern Italy, in the ICT: the Pole of Excellence in Learning and Knowledge
The authors offer a synthetic overview of some publicly funded organisations involved in actions of Research and Development (R&D) and Technology Transfer (TT) in Italy and, in particular, in the Southern areas. Some judgements
have been formulated basing on several Stakeholders’ opinions, crucial factors have been identified in the Italian TT experiences. The work illustrates a case of success in the ICT sector: the Pole in L&K, based in the Salerno province. This experience, born within a department of the University of Salerno from the intuition of a Leader and a Team of young researchers, has conveyed into the creation of a non profit, public/private Consortium (CRMPA), which has lived the phases of a SME, characterised as an oscillating system: from the Entrepreneurial Model, to a model centred on Corporate Technology Assets. A spin-off, shaped in a participatory model, has been implemented, other Consortia have derived, and the CRMPA has evolved into a network structure over the National territory. The current phase presents a virtual organisation whose core is composed of the Embryo group and some spin-off structures, and the permanent halo strictly connected to the core. The model is inspired to the SMEs lifecycle to create an ITC Business Ecosystem in Central-Southern Italy. The work ends with considerations about the desirability to use the Cases of Success model to implement TT actions, supported by both politics and concessional financing, able to improve the National Economic System competitiveness
Adaptation of buffalo calves to a new automatic milk feeder
Rational heifer management in buffalo rearing is of paramount importance. There are no studies in the literature dealing with automatic feeding in individual boxes for buffalo calves. This study aims to deepen knowledge in this area and to evaluate the ability of buffalo calves to adapt to a mobile automatic feeder through data provided by the system's monitoring software. Data were collected on 3 different groups of 15 buffalo calves in succession with each other. The data on the daily feeding quantity and volume showed that 95.67 % of the calves were fed within the first day of stall in the automatic feeder. During the first 72 h in the calf house, the calves were fed from 2.49 ± 1.21 meals per day with an average feeding rate of 0.24 ± 0.06 L/min. The average daily milk intake was 3.57 ± 0.26 L/d, while the average milk intake during the first 72 h was 10.7 ± 0.77 L. The buffalo calves, therefore, showed themselves to be able to adapt to this type of feeding, making use of its advantage
DMS2015short-2: Advanced learning technologies for eLearning in the enterprise: Design of an Educational Adventure Game to teach computer security
Emerging requirements for learning in the enterprise are developing critical reasoning
and keeping the learner engaged. Advanced didactical material that exploits gameful
design should increase engagement by creating a product that has the spirit, and not just
the mechanics, of a good game. This article presents game design guidelines for the
development of an Educational Adventure Game and how they have been applied during
the development of SIRET Security Game, a game that teaches workers the importance of
following computer security policies
A Knowledge Management strategy to identify an expert in Enterprise
The aim of this paper is to define a strategy to identify, manage and take
advantage of competences in the enterprise via figures of opportune experts, with consequent advantages for workers and users in terms of problem solving. In such a context, industrial aspects, such as resources localization, research time and accessibility to the organizational hierarchy and the work load, are also considered.
This allows to distinguish three different phases in finding the experts: Initialization, in which a score is assigned to workers on the base of competence levels; Propagation, where the search accuracy is improved using trust and closeness measures; Localization, where updates of scores are made in terms of social and geographical positions of users/enterprises and experts. The three phases allows to identify inside an enterprise the expert, who has the best competence
and is close to the resource, that is in the shortest delay possible
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
