    The author suggests that the reading τὸ Ὠρικὸν ἔθνος in Julian’s Panegyric in Honour of the Empress Eusebia 3, 103B is not genuine. In fact, even though it is accepted by all the editors, Julian’s usus scribendi and several grammatical problems make the syntagm Ὠρικὸν ἔθνος impossible to maintain. Accordingly, the author proposes to put ἔθνος between cruces, or to expunge it

    The paper contains the first critical edition of six Greek fragments of Severus of Antioch, from the exegetical catenae to the prophets Isaiah, Ezechiel, and Daniel. These fragments were indicated by Michael von Faulhaber at the end of 20thcentury, but were still unpublish­ed. The author tries to contextualize these fragments in the extant production of Severus, which is mainly preserved in Syriac translation

    In Κατὰ τῶν Πλήθωνος ἀπωριῶν ἐπ 'Ἀριστοτέλει, 38, 31-37, George Scholarios cites a sentence from Augustine’s Contra adversarium Legis et Prophetarum, in order to demonstrate that the Platonic demiurge did not create the world, but simply modeled the pre-existing matter. The author of this short note demonstrates that Scholarios drew this quotation from the Greek translation of Thomas Aquinas’ Summa theologiae, realized by Demetrius Cydones, and analyses the way Scholarios and Aquinas interpreted Augustine’s quotation in their treatises

    Oltre ad aver raccontato l’arte e gli artisti del secondo Novecento attraverso la documentazione di cinquant’anni di mostre, studi e grandi manifestazioni pubbliche in Italia, Enrico Cattaneo (Milano, 1933-2019) ha sviluppato una personalissima ricerca visuale sui modi, i soggetti e i materiali della fotografia. Questi due aspetti della sua attività, inseparabili fra loro come le due facce di una medaglia, si ricompongono nella fisionomia unitaria di un autore capace di mettere in questione i presupposti tecnici e concettuali del linguaggio fotografico. Come lui stesso ha scritto: “L’opera d’arte contemporanea è spesso una cosa più un’idea... Difficile fotografare un’idea”.In addition to having chronicled art and artists of the second half of the 20th century by documenting fifty years of exhibitions, art research, and major public events in Italy, Enrico Cattaneo (Milan, 1933–2019) developed a highly personal visual investigation on the modes, languages, and materials of photography. These two facets of his activity, indissolubly linked like the two sides of a coin, are recomposed in the overall profile of an author capable of questioning the technical and conceptual foundations of photography. As he himself has written: ‘The contemporary work of art is often made up of a tangible thing and an idea ... It is difficult to capture an idea on film.

    The author demonstrates that a passage of a Greek letter written by Demetrius Chalcondylas to the famous scholar and editor Marcus Musurus, which was considered corrupted by the editor, is actually genuine, and it contains an allusion to Homer, Iliad, 2.298. Analysing the manuscript which preserves this letter (Par. gr. 2966), he restores the correct reading, and explains the meaning of the sentence in this context.

First of all, the author discusses the date of this sermon, and analyses its literary background. Then, he focuses on the manuscript witnesses of each fragment, and tackles the issue of their authorship. As three of the fragments were not included in the last edition by Maurice Brière and Francois Graffin (PO 38/2), the author finally offers the first critical edition of all the extant fragments, provided with an Italian translation

    Un appunto sul manoscritto Vat. Ott. gr. 92 (Menologio di febbraio): Cervini, Sirleto e la traduzione latina di Gentien Hervet

    This brief article deals with the history of the manuscript Città del Vaticano, Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, Ottobonianus gr. 92, which contains a premetaphrastical menologion of Febraury and was copied in the 16th century from the manuscript Wien, Österreichischen Nationalbibliothek, historicus gr. 3. The author shows that Ottobonianus gr. 92 was produced for the library of cardinal Marcello Cervini (1501-1555) and later it appeared in the catalogue of the Greek manuscripts (Vat. lat. 6163) owned by cardinal Guglielmo Sirleto (1514-1585). Moreover, he demonstrates that this manuscript was used by Gentien Hervet (1499-1584) for his Latin translation of the first part of the menologion, which was published in Venice in 1556. Finally, considering the history of both manuscripts, he suggests that Ottobonianus gr. 92 was copied from Vindobonensis historicus gr. 3 between 1548 and 1553
