Performance Evaluation of Life Insurance Corporation of India
Human life is a full of risk. The effective solution of reducing the burden of these risks / losses is insurance. Insurance occupies an important position in the financial sector of an economy. In a period of less than half a century the insurance sector in a country has come in a full circle from being an open competitive market to compete nationalisation and then back to a liberalised market. The entry of private player’s in the Indian insurance market has change the nature of competition. But LIC (Life Insurance Corporation of India) continuous to be the dominant life insurer even in the liberalised scenario of Indian insurance and it moving fact on a new growth trajectory
surpassing its own past records. Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) has been established to protect the interests of holders of insurance policy and to regulate, promote and insure growth of the insurance industry. The present research work is an attempt to study the performance of LIC after liberalization policy regime. The aim of this study is to evaluate the financial & business performance of LIC for ten years from 1996-97 to 2005-06. This study has been divided into five chapters. The first chapter is introductory in nature and explains overview of the insurance sector. The second chapter focuses on the research methodology of the study. The third chapter evaluates the financial performance of LIC. The fourth chapter analyses the business performance of LIC. While sixth chapter shows summary, findings, conclusions and suggestions for present research study

A Novel Modified P-Q Theory to Control PV-UPQC under Power Quality Issues in Distribution System
This paper deals with the design and performance analysis of a three-phase single stage solar photovoltaic integrated unified power quality conditioner (PV-UPQC). The PV-UPQC consists of a shunt and series connected voltage compensators connected back to back with common DC-link. The shunt compensator performs the dual function of extracting power from PV array apart from compensating for load current harmonics. The system incorporates clean energy generation along with power quality improvement thus increasing functionality of the system. The fundamental frequency positive sequence (FFPS) components of voltages at the point of common coupling (PCC) are extracted using generalized cascaded delay signal cancellation (GCDSC) technique which are then used in p-q theory based control to estimate reference signals for the PV-UPQC. The series compensator compensates for the grid side power quality problems such as grid voltage sags/swells. The compensator injects voltage in-phase/out of phase with point of common coupling (PCC) voltage during sag and swell conditions respectively. The proposed system combines both the benefits of clean energy generation along with improving power quality. The steady state and dynamic performance of the system are evaluated by simulating in Matlab/Simulink under various loading conditions like nonlinear load, Induction motor, sudden changes in loads connected and faults
Mattertronics for programmable manipulation and multiplex storage of pseudo-diamagnetic holes and label-free cells
Manipulating and separating single label-free cells without biomarker conjugation have attracted significant interest in the field of single-cell research, but digital circuitry control and multiplexed individual storage of single label-free cells remain a challenge. Herein, by analogy with the electrical circuitry elements and electronical holes, we develop a pseudo-diamagnetophoresis (PsD) mattertronic approach in the presence of biocompatible ferrofluids for programmable manipulation and local storage of single PsD holes and label-free cells. The PsD holes conduct along linear negative micro-magnetic patterns. Further, eclipse diode patterns similar to the electrical diode can implement directional and selective switching of different PsD holes and label-free cells based on the diode geometry. Different eclipse heights and junction gaps influence the switching efficiency of PsD holes for mattertronic circuitry manipulation and separation. Moreover, single PsD holes are stored at each potential well as in an electrical storage capacitor, preventing multiple occupancies of PsD holes in the array of individual compartments due to magnetic Coulomb-like interaction. This approach may enable the development of large programmable arrays of label-free matters with high throughput, efficiency, and reliability as multiplex cell research platforms. © 2021, The Author(s).1
Ecophysiology of pathogenic Vibrionaceae from cultured Oreochromis mossambicus (TH 111)
The present study, "Ecophysiology of Pathogenic Vibrionaceae from
cultured Oreochromis mossambicus" was conducted in pond water, sediment
and cultured tilapia for a period of 10 months from December 1997 to May 1999
at two stations to assess the species wise dis tri bution and pathogenic potential 01
Vibrionaceae and the effect of environmental paramete rs on them in aquacultu re.
10 Vibrio sp. we re isolated from both the culture ponds, V. anguilla rum, V.
parahaemolyticus, V. fischeri, V. f/uvialis, V. furnissii, V. harveyi, V. campbellii, V.
metschnikovii, V.cincinnatiensis and V. vulnificus. V. anguilla rum was the
predominant flora isolated throughout the study period. Maximum isolates of
Vibrionaceae were obtained during the pre monsoon season, while the monsoon
recorded less numbers. In the case of vibrios, at station I, significant difference
(P<0.01) between seasons was observed, whereas at Station II , no significant
difference was noted between seasons but there was significant difference
between the Vibrio spp. at 5% level.
The three motile Aeromonas sp., A. hydrophila, A. c aviae and A. sobria
were isolated th roughout the period of study with A. hydrophila being the most
predominant form. No significant difference was obtaired in the Aeromonas spp.
between seasons and between species.
The filled regression analysis betvveen V. campbellii and the 9
environmental parameters was significant (p<0.05) explaining 85.5% of the
variability and A. hydrophila was also significant (P<0.05) explaining 82.9% of the
variability. Matrices of correlation showed the influence of environmental
parameters on the species wise distribution of Vibrionaceae.
Vibrionaceae exhibited maximum resistance towards peniciltin and
ampicillin and multiple drug resi stance was very evident.
Of the 4 strains tested (V.anguillarum, V.fluvialis, A. hydropllila and A.
caviae) for their pathogenicity, V. anguilla rum and A. hydrophila exhibited high
pathogenic potential
Analysis of Evolvulus Nummularius (L.)L. Aerial Part of Plant by ICP-OES, UV-Visible and FTIR Techniques
Evolvulus nummularius(L.)L. used as a wild medicinal plant in India, which commonly known as “dwarf morning glory”.The therapeutic properties of plant were attributed to phyto-chemicals, while mineral elements important for human metabolism and regulation mechanisms. Here, to measure the inorganic mineral elements, aerialparts of Evolvulus nummularious(L.)L. were examined. UV-visible spectra of leaves showed that the presence of chlorophyll a and b at 433 nm, 664.5 nm and 465 nm, respectively.FTIR spectra attributed the presence of C-Cl and C-OH stretching at 1086.54 and 608.36 cm-1, respectively.Twenty eight essentialsand trace elements were measured through inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) technique from aerial parts of plant extract. The elements that were screened included Al, Ca, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, P, Ti, B, Ba, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Ga, Ge, Mo, Ni, Pb, V, Zn, As, Hg, Sn, Li, S and Nb. The results of the experiment confirmed that the amongthemtwenty five elements like Al, Ca, Fe, K, Mg, Mn, Na, P, Ti, B, Ba, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Mo, Ni, Pb, V, Zn, As, Hg, Sn, S and Nb present on aerial parts of Evolvulus nummularious(L.)L.with different concentrations
