Cybister (s. str.) poblanus sp. n.
Type locality: Mexico, State of Puebla, environs of Puebla City (exact locality unknown).

Notes: The precise type locality of the new species cannot be given. The holotype was discovered during a review of the insect collection of the IEXA. All we know is that it was collected in the year 2001 by students of the Biology Faculty during a collecting trip in the environs of the city of Puebla. Unfortunately, the exact collecting data were not noted—a well-known problem with unexperienced students. Thus, we can be only sure that the holotype was collected near Puebla City or at least in the State of Puebla.

Material studied: Holotype: ♂, “ México, alrededores / Ciudad de Puebla. / Recolecta 2001 / Colector desconocido” [printed], “Holotipo / Cybister poblanus / Arce-Pérez y Novelo-Gutiérrez det. / 2021” [red, printed] (IEXA) (see Fig. 1c). The holotype lacks three antennomeres of each antenna as well as the claws of the left fore-leg and of the left hind-leg.
Published as part of Arce-Pérez, Roberto, Novelo-Gutiérrez, Rodolfo & Fery, Hans, 2021, Cybister (s. str.) poblanus sp. n. from Mexico and notes on other species of Cybistrinae (Coleoptera: Dytiscidae), pp. 323-339 in Zootaxa 5061 (2) on pages 324-325, DOI: 10.11646/zootaxa.5061.2.5, http://zenodo.org/record/5649596

ArcE: A GIS tool for modelling actual evapotranspiration
This paper introduces ArcE, a GIS tool for modelling actual evapotranspiration (EA) from an undefined number of meteorological stations. From daily data of precipitation and temperature, ArcE uses ArcObjects as the programming language to incorporate equations and hydrological boundary conditions, in order to calculate EA at monthly and yearly time steps. Because weather data are often missing, ArcE is programmed to use non-global models such as Hargreaves for potential evapotranspiration (EP) and Budyko for EA. In arid regions, where results from global and non-global models are expected to deviate, ArcE allows for the segregation of low-divergent areas suitable for interpolating EA from those that should be excluded for mapping the variable. In the semiarid Almanzora River basin, a heterogeneous region with contrasting climate in SE Spain, divergence in lowlands with a higher aridity index was about 15% with respect to an accurate estimate of EA from the Penman–Monteith equation. Evaluating EA is a first step for mapping the non-evaporative fraction of precipitation as the difference in P and EA.This research was funded by UE Integrated Project Contract no. 003950 (DeSurvey).

Embodiment and reflexivity: gaining insight into food lifeways through the Chili Cook-off in Ajijic, Mexico
In this chapter we focus on the embodiment of food within lived experience by taking the case of the Mexican National Chili Cook-off competition in Ajijic, Jalisco State in Mexico. Through this example we demonstrate how a food-affect-resonance becomes apparent within “food lifeways", giving expression to ways of being in the world that focus on the interactions between people and things through the medium of food. Here bodies and material things align with people’s sense of dwelling in a locality and their commitment to charitable aims through a public event
High Precision Cross Sections and Physics Models for Proton Interactions Below 20 MeV in Geant4
Purpose: Geant4 is a Monte Carlo (MC) toolkit with an increasing use in
the field of medical physics. Electromagnetic processes are well validated,
but for hadronic interactions of charged particles at energies of the order of a
few MeV, particularly for low Z materials, there are no physics models able
to reproduce the experimental data. With the default version of Geant4, the
cross sections and production of secondary particles for proton-nucleus
interactions at an energy below 20 MeV are not satisfactory. In this study, a
new physics package to simulate particles below 20 MeV has been added to
Geant4. Methods: A new Geant4 package has been developed to simulate
proton interactions below 20 MeV using the data on reaction cross sections
and production of secondary particles contained in evaluated nuclear
databases. The new package has been tested making use of the TENDL-
2009 and TENDL-2012 databases to simulate the 18O(p,x) interactions for
energies ranging from 4 MeV up to 20 MeV. For this particular reaction, we
have also included in the database the accurate data that can be found in the
IAEA medical database. Results: The obtained energy spectra of the
secondary particles produced by the 18O(p,n) and 18O(p,gamma) reactions
were compared with those calculated with the standard Geant4 physics,
QGSP_BIC_HP, and also with suitable MCNPX calculations. The neutron
and gamma production obtained with the new Geant4 package and
TENDL/IAEA-libraries are significant from 4 MeV, while with the standard
Geant4 physics there is no production of neutrons for energy below 8 MeV,
while above 8 MeV the gamma and neutron production shows a wrong
yield. Conclusion: A new high precision physics package with
corresponding cross section libraries have been successfully added to the
Geant4 MC toolkit for particle energies below 20 MeV, improving the
accuracy and production rates of different secondaries
