Gherardo Gherardi (1891-1949), journalist, theater critic, dramatist and screenwriter, played a central role in the scene of the show and, generally, in that of the culture between the two world wars. This work returns, in diplomatic edition, eleven Gherardi’s unplublished plays in italian language, that, through the entire published production of the author, convey both themes and forms already known and dormant or undervalued aspects of his dramaturgy. Three papers, they too returned in diplomatic edition, of Gherardi with Silvio d’Amico, Giulio Pacuvio and Ruggero Ruggeri, almost completely unpublished, follow the edition of the unplublished plays. A historical-critical essay introduces the philological part of the thesis. This essay, making use of documentary materials, describes the Gherardi’s biographical profile, his poetic and his dramaturgical identity, without forgetting the exegetical study of a significant, even for the troubled process of drafting, unpublished play of his dramaturgy: Diogene. A new and detailed teatrografia and a document summary of the author’s archival collection complete the work

The article following a solicitation by Gennaro Luongo, recently deceased, deals with the hagiographic dossier of Agnese. The author traces it between history and legend, literary documents and monumental evidences, iconography and devotional practices. This allows her to highlight the transformations (modifications) and continuous re-functionalizations of the character, as well as to advance some hypotheses on/regarding the reasons that presided over these continuous re-reading processes

Bank's funding costs: Do ESG factors really matter?

    No full text
This study analyzes whether environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors affect the pricing of bank bonds in the primary market. Using a unique dataset of 19,106 fixed-rate senior bonds issued by a sample of 63 EU banks between 2006 and 2021, we find that, ceteris paribus, the cost at issuance is lower for banks with higher ESG scores. Interestingly, the results are not driven by the environmental friendliness of the issuer, but rather by high corporate governance standards and ESG reporting and transparency practices. Our results shed light on the effect of ESG practices on the cost of debt funding in the banking sector, and show a positive role of “sustainable” banking governance practices in reducing the cost of debt financing
