From almost (para)-complex structures to affine structures on Lie groups
No full textLet G= H⋉ K denote a semidirect product Lie group with Lie algebra g= h⊕ k, where k is an ideal and h is a subalgebra of the same dimension as k. There exist some natural split isomorphisms S with S2= ± Id on g: given any linear isomorphism j: h→ k, we get the almost complex structure J(x, v) = (- j- 1v, jx) and the almost paracomplex structure E(x, v) = (j- 1v, jx). In this work we show that the integrability of the structures J and E above is equivalent to the existence of a left-invariant torsion-free connection ∇ on G such that ∇ J= 0 = ∇ E and also to the existence of an affine structure on H. No full textSe hace un análisis de las principales técnicas de valoración del desarrollo óseo de las áreas carpales y de la mano, o sean los procedimientos cuantitativo y de inspección cualitativa. Se puntualizan las etapas realizadas en un estudio en que se empleó el primer procedimiento, se hace referencia a las dificultades que ofrece, los medios puestos en práctica para asegurar en lo posible su eficacia y la necesidad de trabajar no sobre radiografías, sino sobre calcas de las zonas por estudiar. Se señalan los criterios fundamentales del proceso cualitativo, haciéndose observar, con datos obtenidos en la investigación de que se trata, que el método cuantitativo, a pesar de las limitaciones que ofrece, parece rendir frutos aceptables para determinado tipo de estudios, sin negar la importancia que también tiene la valoración mediante la comparación con las normas contenidas en los atlas existentes, o con las etapas evolutivas determinadas por la escuela inglesa.Christ, H. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
No full textWe conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

No full textEl uso de modelos de simulación de cultivos es una herramienta valiosa para la toma de decisiones sobre el manejo del cultivo, pues genera información sobre la producción en función de las condiciones meteorológicas, edáficas y del manejo del cultivo. Para ello, en primera instancia el modelo debe ser calibrado y más tarde
validado, siempre sobre información obtenida previamente a campo. El modelo CROPGRO-Peanut es una estructura modular del DSSAT que simula la fenología y productividad del cultivo de maní bajo condiciones ambientales y prácticas de manejo. Sin embargo, el modelo requiere no sólo información de suelo, clima y prácticas de manejo; pues también demanda información sobre coeficientes genéticos específicos de cada cultivar que definen el desarrollo y el crecimiento. Los objetivos de este trabajo fueron (i) calibrar los coeficientes genéticos de la variedad ASEM 485 INTA del modelo CROPGRO-Peanut para para fases fenológicas,

A partir de estos acontecimientos se genera un código de unidad generado bajo esquemas de supervivencia y bajo un imaginario social que propone la búsqueda de la auto representación y legitimación de propuestas y demandas. The Right to Strike under the United States Constitution: Theory, Practice, and Possible Implications for Canada
No full textAnswering critics of the Canadian Supreme Court's judgment in B.C. Health, the author argues that the Court laid the foundation for a principled and durable doctrine protecting constitutional labour rights, one that goes directly to the heart of the matter — the inequality of workers’ power in the employment relation. In the author’s view, two paths could lead from B.C. Health to the recognition of Charter protec- tion for a right to strike: one that treats the right as an accessory to col- lective bargaining, and one that upholds the right directly on the basis of the Charter values of equality and participation. The author supports the latter approach, contending that constitutional rights should be defined in relation to fundamental values, in a way that is not contingent on time-bound or fact-sensitive assessments about the role of strikes within a particular collective bargaining regime. Although a Charter right to strike may involve the courts in difficult choices about when to defer to legislative policy decisions, and courts may lack the institutional capac- ity to deal effectively with labour law issues, the author points out that judges can look to ILO standards for expert guidance. Noting that the U.S. experience in this area might be of considerable use to Canadians, the author concludes by providing an overview of American case law concerning a constitutional right to strike.Peer reviewe
