A Note on Certain Qualitative Properties of a Second Order Linear Differential System

    No full text
In this note, two theorems are presented concerning the well known second order linear differential system ¨X +a(t)X =P(t). While the results are not new, the proofs presented simplify previous works since the Gronwall inequality is avoided which is the usual case. The technique of proof involves the integral test and examples are included to illustrate the results

Savings-Investments Relationship in an Open Economy

    No full text
This paper reviews the conceptual-theoretical framework related to the analysis of the savings-investments relationship in an open economy and reveals the main trends of the respective relationship in the consolidated market economies and emerging countries during the second part of the 20-th century and first decade of the 21-st century. In this context, the author proposes some improvements in the savings-investments relationship analysis methodology, emphasizing the role of the foreign trade balance stock on the values of discrepancy between the savings and investments and of the Feldstein-Horioka econometric model estimated parameters. The respective methodological improvements are applied in the case of Romania for the period 1990-2007. At the end of the paper some guidelines for the savings-investments relationship modeling are presented in order to avoid recession and assure the premises for a sustainable economic growth.state budget deficit, external trade balance stock, Grubel-Lloyd Index generalized form, Feldstein-Horioka model, error-correction model.

On the Qualitative Analyses of Integro-Differential Equations with Constant Time Lag

    No full text
In this article, some new investigations are done on stability, asymptotically stability and instability of the zero solution and boundedness, integrability of solutions and integrability of derivatives of solutions of certain nonlinear Volterra delayed integro- differential equations (DIDEs) by using the Lyapunov’s functional method. To fulfill the aim of this work, three meaningful Lyapunov functionals are defined as main tools. Then, five new results are given on the mentioned qualitative properties of solutions of the considered DIDEs. Our results have contributions to the relevant literature and they have sufficient conditions. They include and improve some former results that can be found in [1]

Young people in Turkey living with domestic violence: perspectives, effects and coping strategies

    No full text
The present study seeks to explore young Turkish people’s exposure to domestic violence during childhood. In doing so it examines their perspectives, the impact of domestic violence on their behaviour and psychological wellbeing, their coping strategies at the time of violence and in its immediate aftermath and it also considers their ideas about possible intervention by support agencies and protection measures. This is a qualitative study, which draws on feminist theory, which centralises gender within the power and control framework, to understand the complex nature of domestic violence. This thesis applies the concept of intersectionality to explore the impacts of intersecting social categories on young people’s experiences. In addition, social learning theory, which sees children as passive victims, and sociology of childhood perspectives, which see children as active agencies, were adopted to explore how young people develop perspectives, responses and coping mechanism. The findings from in-depth interviews revealed that young people perceived the externalizing and internalizing impacts of exposure to domestic violence on their well-being and behaviours including depression, anxiety, low self-confidence, powerlessness, worthlessness and aggression. Findings outlined that domestic violence is considered a private issue and is most likely perpetrated due to gender inequalities and male domination in a Turkish context. Domestic violence is internalised by young people as a way to discipline a wife. Findings showed that complex interaction of factors shapes coping strategies; hiding, saving siblings, calling outside help, leaving home, involvement, marrying in early ages and pretending like a male. The young people also stressed the need to develop parentfocused and child and young people focused strategies to support people of victims of domestic violence. Finally. They highlighted the importance of schools to improve awareness and develop initial support for young survivors of domestic violence and reformulating gender roles to eradicate the issue

The ›Ex-Tunc‹-Nullity of Continuing Obligations in Accordance with Section 142 (1) BGB. A Dogmatical Discussion about the Legal Consequence of Section 142 (1) BGB by Means of the Exemplary Exploration of Challenged Continuing Obligations« The methodically and dogmatically conducted exploration proves the general compatibility of the legal consequence of Section 142 (1) BGB with executed employment contracts as well as long-term commitments in general. Likewise, the author justifies a common exception with the teleological reduction of Section 142 (1) BGB in corporate law, since the appeal against executed articles of association arises technically comprehensible protection gaps of third parties’ interests

Oscillatory behavior of second-order damped differential equations with a superlinear neutral term

    No full text
. This article concerns the oscillatory behavior of solutions to second-order damped nonlinear differential equations with a superlinear neutral term. The results are obtained by a Riccati type transformation as well as by an integral criterion. Examples illustrating the results are provided and some suggestions for further research are indicated

Solution estimates and stability tests for nonlinear delay integro-differential equations

    No full text
In this article, we examine various qualitative features of solutions of a nonlinear delay integro-differential equation. We prove three new theorems which include sufficient conditions on asymptotic stability (AS), integrability, and boundedness of solutions, using a suitable Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional. We present examples that show applications of our results.Mathematic
