In questa puntata vogliamo raccontare una storia … speciale … per davvero, di quelle che gli stessi protagonisti hanno raccontato, forse, sottovoce … o forse non l'hanno neppure raccontata e altri si sono presi l'impegno di farlo.
Il caso dei comandanti di stazione in Nord Italia durante la vita dell’effimera Repubblica Sociale Italiana è molto interessante e il maresciallo capo dei Carabinieri Reali Osman Carugno è uno dei più noti (tra i pochi studiosi). A nostro giudizio si tratta di uno dei pochi noti ma in realtà siamo convinti che i casi analoghi siano stati molti di più … purtroppo cancellati dalla memoria collettiva nel tempo con la scomparsa dei principali protagonisti. Ecco dunque che in questa puntata possiamo ricordare lui e tanti altri.

Density based problem space search for the capacitated clustering p-median problem
No full textIn the Capacitated Clustering Problem (CCP), a given set of n weighted points is to be partitioned into p clusters such that, the total weight of the points in each cluster does not exceed a given cluster capacity. The objective is to find a set of p centers that minimises total scatter of points allocated to them. In this paper a new constructive method, a general framework to improve the performance of greedy constructive heuristics, and a problem space search procedure for the CCP are proposed. The constructive heuristic finds patterns of natural subgrouping in the input data using concept of density of points. Elements of adaptive computation and periodic construction-deconstruction concepts are implemented within the constructive heuristic to develop a general framework for building efficient heuristics. The problem-space search procedure is based on perturbations of input data for which a controlled perturbation strategy, intensification and diversification strategies are developed. The implemented algorithms are compared with existing methods on a standard set of bench-marks and on new sets of large-sized instances. Variations on the Author
No full text“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Şems Osman Efendi's Şem’-i Şebistan (Research-Review-Analysis)

plana çıkmış kıymetli bir şahsiyettir. Şairin, Dîvân’ı başta olmak üzere Âdâbu’l-
Mürîd fi-Sohbeti’l-Murâd, Mersiyye-i Cenâb-ı Seyyidü’ş-Şühedâ, Kenzü’l-Ma˘ânî ve
Şem˘-i Şebistân isminde eserleri bulunmaktadır. Bu eserlerden Dîvân, Âdâbu’l-Mürîd
fi-Sohbeti’l-Murâd ve Mersiyye-i Cenâb-ı Seyyidü’ş-Şühedâ üzerinde çeşitli
çalışmalar yapılmış Kenzü’l-Ma˘ânî’ye henüz ulaşılamamıştır. Yaptığımız araştırma
neticesinde kayıtlı tek nüshası tespit edilen Şem˘-i şebistân’a ise Konya Yazma
Eserler Kütüphanesi’nde ulaşılmıştır.Bu çalışmada öncelikle kaynaklardan hareketle Şems Osman Efendi’nin
hayatı, eserleri, edebî ve tasavvufî kişiliğine dair mevcut bilgiler verilmiş; ardından
Şem˘-i şebistân şekil ve muhteva yönünden incelenmiştir. Eserin transkripsiyonlu
metni, günümüz Türkçesi ve yazma nüshası verilerek çalışma tamamlanmıştır.
Yapılan inceleme sonucunda, daha önce üzerinde çalışılmamış olan Şem˘-i
şebistân’ın, ilahi aşkı anlatan tasavvufî bir mesnevi olduğu, şairin kendi seyr ü
sülukuna, edebî ve tasavvufî kişiliğine dair bilgiler verdiği anlaşılmıştır.Şems Osman Efendi is a precious person who lived in the 19th century and
came into prominence with his literary and mystical aspects. The poet has works
with the names of Dîvân in particular, Âdâbu'l- Mürîd fi-Sohbeti'l-Murâd, Mersiyye-i
Cenâb-ı Seyyidü'ş-Şühedâ, Kenzü'l-Ma˘ânî and Şem˘-i Şebistân. Among these works,
various studies have been carried out on Dîvân, Âdâbu'l-Mürîd fi-Sohbeti'l-Murâd
and Mersiyye-i Cenâb-ı Seyyidü'ş-Şühedâ but Kenzü'l-Ma˘ânî has not come to light
yet. As a result of our research, the only registered copy of Şem˘-i Şebistân was
found in Konya Manuscript Library.In this study, firstly, based on the sources, current information about the life,
works, literary and mystical personality of Şems Osman Efendi was mentioned; then
Şem˘-i Şebistân was examined in terms of form and content. The research has been
completed by adding the transcribed text and manuscript of the work and
contemporary Turkish version. As a result of the examination, it is understood that
Şem˘-i Şebistân, which has not been studied before, is a mystical mathnawi
describing divine love, and informs us about the poet's own divine journey and his
literary and mystical personality
Response of Mediterranean grassland to phosphate and stocking rates: biomass production and botanical composition
No full textThree rates of phosphate (0, 25, and 60 kg/ha P2O5) were applied phosphorus-deficient native grassland at Tel Hadya, in northern Syria, and biomass productivity, botanical composition and number of legume seeds in the soil were monitored for five seasons (1984/85-1988/89). The experiment was grazed at low (0.8 sheep/ha per year) and high (1.7 sheep/ha per year) stocking rates from the second to the fourth seasons of the experiment; in the fifth season, the low and high stocking rates were increased to 1.1 and 2.3 sheep/ha per year, respectively. The experimental site was typical of native grassland within the cereal zone of west Asia, where cropping is not possible because of shallow, stony soils and steep slopes.
The results showed that annual applications of phosphorus, even as low as 25 kg P2O5/ha, alleviated the deficiency in soil P and resulted in improved pasture production, even in dry years. Legume production showed the greatest response to P, increasing by 0.3-3 times the production of the control treatments. By the fifth season, legume seed mass had increased threefold and number of seeds sixfold in the P-treated plots, compared with the first season, while in the control plots there was little change. Rain-use efficiency on the P-treated plots was more than double that of the controls by the fourth and fifth seasons.
Practical application of the results depends on whether (i) legumes are as frequent in native grasslands, as a whole, as they are at Tel Hadya, (ii) the P deficiency observed at Tel Hadya is widespread, and (iii) grazing of communally owned grasslands can be controlled. It is suggested that all three criteria will often be fulfilled and, therefore, that grassland productivity in west Asia could be substantially increased. Furthermore, the results suggest that above-ground cover and soil organic matter will also increase after P application, both of which will help to reduce soil erosion and thereby increase the sustainability of livestock production in west Asia

Exploring Emptiness: An Investigation of MA and MU in My Sonic Composition Practice
No full textThe commentary investigates Japanese aesthetics of space, silence and emptiness - ma and mu - that informed my compositional practice during the research period 2012 - 2015. The portfolio comprises text compositions and sound installations in which forms of micro events and sustained events are employed. Throughout, the emphasis is on my personal engagement with, and manifestation of emptiness that concerns a particular model of listening and perception.
Chapter 1 discusses six primary research areas: ma and mu, material, text, form, listening and perception. Firstly, I introduce ma and mu by examining noh culture and Zeami's teaching of senu hima (where there is no-action) in the context of my personal approaches to music. The following subjects are then used to contextualise my PhD practice by means of examples from various composers and visual artists. Here, these particular and enigmatic concepts are explored through Japanese art as well as Western contemporary works by Alvin Lucier, Eliane Radigue and those of the Wandelweiser collective.
Part 2 provides contextual commentaries on selected compositions from the portfolio that mostly articulate my aesthetics in relation to the topics covered in Chapter 1. koso koso addresses my methodologies to investigate the essence of senu hima, followed by treow that discusses my approach to materials and the importance of space. I move on to grade two and grade two extended in order to examine text scores, and then, look into Espèces d'espaces 03 and 04 as examples of musical forms that I employ.
Finally, listening and perception are investigated through the compositions gnome and con.de.structuring. Throughout, I describe how my works explore emptiness as a result of my particular emphasis on listening over composing

Mevlânâ ile ilgili okumalarda ortaya çıkan seviye farklılıklarına yol açan bu nedenlerden bazıları okuyucudan kaynakla-nan ve anlama sorununun harici boyutunu teşkil eden nedenlerdir. Okuyucunun Mevlânâ'nın düşünce ve mesajlarına nüfûzunu engelleyen diğer bazı "mânia"lar daha bulunmaktadır. Mevlânâ'nın eserlerindeki tema, üslûp ve içerikten kaynaklanan bu tür dâhili mânialar, anlama sorununa zemin teşkil etmeleri bakımından bu konuda bize göre daha etkin rol oynamaktadır. Mevlânâ'nın sûfî bir düşünür olmasından kaynaklanan ve bu düşünce tarzının eserlerindeki ifadelere yansımasından neşet eden anlama sorunları ve nedenleri de makalede işlenen ko-nular arasındadır.On the Reasons of Misunderstanding Mawlana in the Frame of MasnawiThis paper is about the shortcomings observed in understanding Rumi's thoughts and messages, and why this may be the case. Causing differences of level in the interpretations about Rumi, some of these reasons arise out of the reader, which –in itself– constitutes the external aspect of the understanding problem. Certain other "obstacles" stop the reader from penetrating into the Rumi's intellect and messages. This type of internal obstacles, which stem from the theme, style, and content indigenous to Rumi's works, we believe, play a more influential role in terms of laying the ground for the abovementioned understanding problem.
