A study on drivers perception towards speed limit enforcement in Kota Kinabalu / Azlan Arrifin Saladi and Noorsyazwani Osman
Exceeding the speed limit and driving too fast might cause road accidents and severe injuries to the victims. Speeding offense can be considered as one of the factors that might cause traffic crashes and even deaths. Drivers play an important role in this matter because of their attitude towards the speeding may influence their perception towards the speed limit enforcement. Perception of the drivers towards the speed limit enforcement, which being influenced by the attitude of the drivers who did not care about the impacts of speeding might cause loss of lives anytime and everywhere. The purpose of this study was to examine the perceptions of drivers towards the speed limit enforcement in Kota Kinabalu area, the relationship between driver's experiences towards speed limit enforcement and perceptions towards speed limit enforcement and the relationship between drivers' attitude towards speed limit enforcement and perceptions towards speed limit enforcement. This study was done using a self developed questionnaire involving 138 drivers within Kota Kinabalu. From the finding, we can conclude that there was no relationship between the drivers' experience and the perceptions of drivers towards speed limit enforcement. There was a significant relationship between driver attitude towards speed limit enforcement and drivers' perceptions towards speed limit enforcement. It means that the driver's attitude towards speed limit enforcement may influence their perception towards speed limit enforcement
Proccessing cerate-zirconate nanopowder at supercritical conditions via batch-wise reactor system / Nafisah Osman and Mohd Azlan Mohd Ishak
Protonic conductors of ceramic perovskite-type oxides (ABO3) have captured attention of researchers worldwide for technological purpose in fuel cells, batteries, steam electrolyser, etc. The best candidate amongst them is the perovskite-type oxides of Ba(Ce,Zr)03 which is known to exhibit high mechanical and chemical stability along with good conductivity. This proton conductor is the best applicant as electrolyte for solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) in the presence of hydrogen and/or water vapour at intermediate temperatures (400-750 °C) There are very limited information available regarding the durability of cells based on the cerate-zirconate, for example, Y-doped Ba(Ce,Zr)03 electrolyte. Indeed, synthesizing cerate-zirconate electrolyte especially supercritical fluid method is a critical challenge as previous report has found that only 2-3 metal element can be obtained a single perovskite phase. However, to the best of our knowledge this route has not yet been carried out to synthesize ceramics compounds with four metal elements In the presence work, high-pressure-high-temperature (HP-HT) batch-wise reactor system was used to synthesise BaCeo.54Zro.36Y01O2.95 (BCZY) perovskite powder using different parameter such as reaction pressure, reaction temperature and solvent as SCF media. Considering the advantages of Wet Chemical Method (WCMs) and SCF properties, an approach towards the combination of both synthesis routes was used in this work. BCZY was synthesise by sol-gel assisted supercritical fluid method using different heating proceses. The phase formation was studied to investigate the formation of any secondary using X-ray diffractometer (XRD)
Authorship Characteristics in Sekitar Perpustakaan 1994-2003: A Bibliometric Study
This bibliometric study attempts to explore the authorship characteristics in Sekitar Perpustakaan, one of the earliest library and information science (LIS) periodicals published by the National Library of Malaysia (PNM – Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia) since 1977. A total of 148 articles published in 20 issues of Sekitar Perpustakaan covering the period 1994-2003 were analyzed. Author characteristics such as name, gender, status, institutional affiliation, language preference of articles and authorship of articles were obtained, studied and analyzed. The findings reveals single-authored articles far outnumbered multi-authored articles at 79%; female contributors (65.74% or 71 authors) predominates male contributors (34.26% or 37 authors); middle-level professionals were the largest contributors of articles (59.3%); 83 (56%) of the articles published were in Bahasa Melayu, the national language, while 65 (44%) articles were in English; the top ranked contributor is Ding Choo Ming, Senior Research Fellow of Institute of the Malay World & Civilization, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia with nine contributions; and the most prolific institution is PNM with 41 contributing authors
A comparative study on curing characteristics, mechanical properties, swelling behavior, thermal stability, and Morphology of feldspar and silica in SMR L vulcanizates
Link to publisher's homepage at http://www.tandfonline.com/Comparison studies on effects of feldspar and silica (Vulcasil C) as a filler in (SMR L grade natural rubber) vulcanizates on curing characteristics, mechanical properties, swelling behavior, thermal analysis, and morphology were examined. The incorporation of both fillers increases the scorch time, t 2, and cure time, t 90, of SMR L vulcanizates. At a similar filler loading, feldspar exhibited longer t 2 and t 90 but lower values of maximum torque, MHR, and torque difference, MHR–ML than did silica-filled SMR L vulcanizates. For mechanical properties, both fillers were found to be effective in enhancing the tensile strength (up to 10 phr), tensile modulus, and hardness of the vulcanizates. However, feldspar-filled SMR L vulcanizates showed lower values of mechanical properties than did silica-filled SMR L vulcanizates. Swelling measurement indicates that swelling percentages of both fillers-filled SMR L vulcanizates decrease with increasing filler loading whereas silica shows a lower swelling percentage than feldspar-filled SMR L vulcanizates. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) on fracture surface of tensile samples showed poor filler–matrix adhesion for both fillers with increasing filler loading in the vulcanizates. However, feldspar-filled SMR L vulcanizates showed poorer filler–matrix adhesion than did silica-filled SMR L vulcanizates. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) results indicate that the feldspar-filled SMR L vulcanizates have higher thermal stability than do silica-filled SMR L vulcanizates
Curing characteristics, fatigue and hysteresis behaviour of feldspar filled natural rubber vulcanizates

Two different types of natural rubber, SMR L and ENR 50 having 0 and 50 mol% of epoxide groups were used. The feldspar filled natural rubber vulcanizates were compared at similar filler loading which were used at 0, 10, 20, and 30 phr of filler loading. The curing characteristics such as scorch time (t2) and cure time (t90) slightly increased with increasing feldspar loading for both rubber vulcanizates. Besides t2 and t90, maximum torque (MHR) significantly increased for bothrubbers with increasing feldspar loading. The fatigue test showed that fatigue life decreased with increasing extension ratio, strain energy and filler loading. As the filler loading increased, the poor wetting of the feldspar by the rubber matrix gave rise to poor interfacial adhesion between filler and rubber matrix. Results also indicate that the vulcanizates with the highest feldspar loading exhibited the highest hysteresis. The feldspar filled SMR L vulcanizates showed higher fatiguelife and lower hysteresis compare to feldspar filled ENR 50 vulcanizates

Two different types of natural rubber, SMR L and ENR 50 having 0 and 50 mol% of epoxide groups and semi-efficient vulcanization were used. The scorch time, (t2) and cure time, (t90) of both rubber vulcanizates slightly increased with increasing feldspar loading. At a similar feldspar loading, the ENR 50 vulcanizates showed shorter t2 and t90 than SMR L vulcanizates. Besides t2 and t90, maximum torque, (MHR) and torque difference (MHR - ML) were also investigated. Results indicate that MHR and MHR - ML increase for both rubbers with increasing feldsparloading. Swelling test results showed a reduction in the swelling percentage for both rubbers with increasing feldspar loading. At a similar filler loading, SMR L vulcanizates showed lower swelling percentage than ENR 50 vulcanizates. The mechanical properties such as tensile strength (up to certain filler loading), tensile modulus and hardness increased with increasing feld-spar loading for both rubbers. However, at a similar feldspar loading, the mechanical properties of SMR L vulcanizates are higher than ENR 50 vulcanizates
Characterization of La0.6Sr0.4CoO3-α cathode powder prepared by a combined citrate-EDTA method / Abdullah Abdul Samat, Mohd Azlan Mohd Ishak and Nafisah Osman
The La0.6Sr0.4CoO3-α (LSCO) cathode powder was prepared by a combined citrate-EDTA method using nitrate based chemicals. Citric (CA) and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) were used as chelating agents and ethylene glycol (EG) as a polymerizing agent. The formation of metal complexes of LSCO was analyzed using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Various organic compounds such as carbonyl and carbonate groups were observed in FTIR spectra. The as-synthesized LSCO powder analyzed by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) showed there were three stages of weight losses with a drastic weight loss observed between 150-550 ºC. A complete decomposition of intermediate compounds was observed at 800 ºC indicating the formation of metal oxide was formed. This result was further confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis which revealed the calcined LSCO powders at 800 ºC and 900 C formed a single perovskite phase. LSCO cathode slurry was prepared by adding polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) as binder. This slurry was painted on pellet surfaces of BaCe0.54Zr0.36Y0.1O2.95 (BCZY) electrolyte. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) results showed the LSCO cathode was well adhered on BCZY electrolyte. It is apparent that the binder plays an important role in making a good contact between the obtained high purity LSCO cathode and BCZY electrolyte

This project paper is done with the intention of gaining an insight into the practical aspect of budgeting applied by the management of a Production House for its productions. The study was deemed essential as there were many grouses about the film industry being not so financially lucrative. There were a number of failed financial ventures into this glamourous industry. The creative and artistic elements of this business field have been discussed many a time in various media and sometimes with a touch of nostalgia. However, only a few have touched on the financial and management aspects. Thus the author would like to gain an insight into a component of that important but least studied aspect of the business, that is budgeting and how it is practised in this highly creative and artistic business in Malaysia
Memorandum Persefahaman (MoU) dimeterai antara Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) dan Zai Music World / Nor Azlan Othman and Nor Aziyah Bakhari
Satu Majlis Menandatangani perjanjian Memorandum Persefahaman (MoU) antara Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) dan Zai Music World telah diadakan di ibu pejabat Zai Music World yang terletak di Kota Tun Fatimah, MITC, Ayer Keroh Melaka. Tujuan utama termeterainya perjanjian MoU ini adalah bagi memperkukuhkan lagi kerjasama strategik di antara kedua-dua pihak. Turut hadir bersama memeriahkan majlis ini adalah wakil daripada Akademi Seni Budaya dan Warisan Kebangsaan (ASWARA) dan MARA Negeri Melaka. Majlis ini telah dijalankan secara tertutup dengan mematuhi segala prosedur operasi standard (SOP) ketat yang dikeluarkan oleh Majlis Keselamatan Negara (MKN). UiTM diwakili oleh Ybhg. Prof. Ts. Dr. Salmiah Kasolang, Rektor UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang disaksikan oleh YBrs. Prof. Madya ChM Dr. Nor Aziyah Bakhari, Timbalan Rektor Bahagian Penyelidikan, Jaringan Industri, Masyarakat & Alumni UiTMCPP manakala Zai Music World pula diwakili oleh YBrs. Organization can practices any techniques or styles of management. It depends on the type of industry, the nature of business and the condition of the market and environment. MBO has been debated for more than 25 years either it work or not. TQM was popular in lately 80 's and early 90 'so Some company had proven successful after applied this concept and plan. UiTM is undergone of TQM and is still under process. The author trying to suggest how these concepts will be implemented without lessens each other. The suggestion and proposal will work in university environment
